1 “Do not judge, so that you will not be judged.
यथा यूयं दोषीकृता न भवथ, तत्कृतेऽन्यं दोषिणं मा कुरुत।
2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.
यतो यादृशेन दोषेण यूयं परान् दोषिणः कुरुथ, तादृशेन दोषेण यूयमपि दोषीकृता भविष्यथ, अन्यञ्च येन परिमाणेन युष्माभिः परिमीयते, तेनैव परिमाणेन युष्मत्कृते परिमायिष्यते।
3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the beam that is in your own eye?
अपरञ्च निजनयने या नासा विद्यते, ताम् अनालोच्य तव सहजस्य लोचने यत् तृणम् आस्ते, तदेव कुतो वीक्षसे?
4 Or how will you tell your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye,’ and behold, the beam is in your own eye?
तव निजलोचने नासायां विद्यमानायां, हे भ्रातः, तव नयनात् तृणं बहिष्यर्तुं अनुजानीहि, कथामेतां निजसहजाय कथं कथयितुं शक्नोषि?
5 You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother’s eye.
हे कपटिन्, आदौ निजनयनात् नासां बहिष्कुरु ततो निजदृष्टौ सुप्रसन्नायां तव भ्रातृ र्लोचनात् तृणं बहिष्कर्तुं शक्ष्यसि।
6 “Do not give that which is holy to the dogs, neither throw your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
अन्यञ्च सारमेयेभ्यः पवित्रवस्तूनि मा वितरत, वराहाणां समक्षञ्च मुक्ता मा निक्षिपत; निक्षेपणात् ते ताः सर्व्वाः पदै र्दलयिष्यन्ति, परावृत्य युष्मानपि विदारयिष्यन्ति।
7 “Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you.
याचध्वं ततो युष्मभ्यं दायिष्यते; मृगयध्वं तत उद्देशं लप्स्यध्वे; द्वारम् आहत, ततो युष्मत्कृते मुक्तं भविष्यति।
8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.
यस्माद् येन याच्यते, तेन लभ्यते; येन मृग्यते तेनोद्देशः प्राप्यते; येन च द्वारम् आहन्यते, तत्कृते द्वारं मोच्यते।
9 Or who is there among you who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
आत्मजेन पूपे प्रार्थिते तस्मै पाषाणं विश्राणयति,
10 Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent?
मीने याचिते च तस्मै भुजगं वितरति, एतादृशः पिता युष्माकं मध्ये क आस्ते?
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
तस्माद् यूयम् अभद्राः सन्तोऽपि यदि निजबालकेभ्य उत्तमं द्रव्यं दातुं जानीथ, तर्हि युष्माकं स्वर्गस्थः पिता स्वीययाचकेभ्यः किमुत्तमानि वस्तूनि न दास्यति?
12 Therefore, whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
यूष्मान् प्रतीतरेषां यादृशो व्यवहारो युष्माकं प्रियः, यूयं तान् प्रति तादृशानेव व्यवहारान् विधत्त; यस्माद् व्यवस्थाभविष्यद्वादिनां वचनानाम् इति सारम्।
13 “Enter in by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in by it.
सङ्कीर्णद्वारेण प्रविशत; यतो नरकगमनाय यद् द्वारं तद् विस्तीर्णं यच्च वर्त्म तद् बृहत् तेन बहवः प्रविशन्ति।
14 How narrow is the gate and the way is restricted that leads to life! There are few who find it.
अपरं स्वर्गगमनाय यद् द्वारं तत् कीदृक् संकीर्णं। यच्च वर्त्म तत् कीदृग् दुर्गमम्। तदुद्देष्टारः कियन्तोऽल्पाः।
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.
अपरञ्च ये जना मेषवेशेन युष्माकं समीपम् आगच्छन्ति, किन्त्वन्तर्दुरन्ता वृका एतादृशेभ्यो भविष्यद्वादिभ्यः सावधाना भवत, यूयं फलेन तान् परिचेतुं शक्नुथ।
16 By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles?
मनुजाः किं कण्टकिनो वृक्षाद् द्राक्षाफलानि शृगालकोलितश्च उडुम्बरफलानि शातयन्ति?
17 Even so, every good tree produces good fruit, but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit.
तद्वद् उत्तम एव पादप उत्तमफलानि जनयति, अधमपादपएवाधमफलानि जनयति।
18 A good tree cannot produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit.
किन्तूत्तमपादपः कदाप्यधमफलानि जनयितुं न शक्नोति, तथाधमोपि पादप उत्तमफलानि जनयितुं न शक्नोति।
19 Every tree that does not grow good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
अपरं ये ये पादपा अधमफलानि जनयन्ति, ते कृत्ता वह्नौ क्षिप्यन्ते।
20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
अतएव यूयं फलेन तान् परिचेष्यथ।
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
ये जना मां प्रभुं वदन्ति, ते सर्व्वे स्वर्गराज्यं प्रवेक्ष्यन्ति तन्न, किन्तु यो मानवो मम स्वर्गस्थस्य पितुरिष्टं कर्म्म करोति स एव प्रवेक्ष्यति।
22 Many will tell me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did not we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?’
तद् दिने बहवो मां वदिष्यन्ति, हे प्रभो हे प्रभो, तव नाम्ना किमस्मामि र्भविष्यद्वाक्यं न व्याहृतं? तव नाम्ना भूताः किं न त्याजिताः? तव नाम्ना किं नानाद्भुतानि कर्म्माणि न कृतानि?
23 Then I will tell them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.’
तदाहं वदिष्यामि, हे कुकर्म्मकारिणो युष्मान् अहं न वेद्मि, यूयं मत्समीपाद् दूरीभवत।
24 “Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock.
यः कश्चित् ममैताः कथाः श्रुत्वा पालयति, स पाषाणोपरि गृहनिर्म्मात्रा ज्ञानिना सह मयोपमीयते।
25 The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
यतो वृष्टौ सत्याम् आप्लाव आगते वायौ वाते च तेषु तद्गेहं लग्नेषु पाषाणोपरि तस्य भित्तेस्तन्न पतति
26 Everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
किन्तु यः कश्चित् ममैताः कथाः श्रुत्वा न पालयति स सैकते गेहनिर्म्मात्रा ऽज्ञानिना उपमीयते।
27 The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell—and its fall was great.”
यतो जलवृष्टौ सत्याम् आप्लाव आगते पवने वाते च तै र्गृहे समाघाते तत् पतति तत्पतनं महद् भवति।
28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the multitudes were astonished at his teaching,
यीशुनैतेषु वाक्येषु समापितेषु मानवास्तदीयोपदेशम् आश्चर्य्यं मेनिरे।
29 for he taught them with authority, and not like the scribes.
यस्मात् स उपाध्याया इव तान् नोपदिदेश किन्तु समर्थपुरुषइव समुपदिदेश।
