Matthew 15
1 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,
അതിനുശേഷം ജെറുശലേമിൽനിന്ന് ചില പരീശന്മാരും വേദജ്ഞരും യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന്,
2 “Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”
“അങ്ങയുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ പൂർവികരുടെ പാരമ്പര്യം ലംഘിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്? അവർ ആഹാരം കഴിക്കുന്നതിനുമുമ്പ് കൈ കഴുകുന്നില്ലല്ലോ!” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
3 He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?
അതിന് യേശു ചോദിച്ച മറുചോദ്യം: “നിങ്ങളുടെ പാരമ്പര്യം അനുവർത്തിക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടി നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവകൽപ്പന ലംഘിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്?
4 For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’
‘നിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ ബഹുമാനിക്കണം’ എന്നും ‘പിതാവിനെയോ മാതാവിനെയോ ശപിക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തിക്ക് വധശിക്ഷനൽകണം’ എന്നും ദൈവം കൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
5 But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,”
എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ: ‘ഒരാൾ തന്റെ പിതാവിനോടോ മാതാവിനോടോ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നൽകേണ്ട സഹായം ദൈവത്തിനുള്ള വഴിപാടായി നേർന്നുപോയല്ലോ’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാൽ, അയാൾ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ സംരക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതില്ല എന്നല്ലേ.
6 he shall not honor his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.
ഇങ്ങനെയായാൽ അയാൾ പിന്നെ ‘മാതാപിതാക്കളെ ആദരിക്കേണ്ടതില്ല’ എന്നും നിങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നു. ഈ വിധത്തിൽ, നിങ്ങളുടെ പരമ്പരാഗതമായ സമ്പ്രദായങ്ങളിലൂടെ നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവകൽപ്പന അസാധുവാക്കുകയല്ലേ?
7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
കപടഭക്തരേ, യെശയ്യാവ് നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു പ്രവചിച്ചത് എത്ര കൃത്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു:
8 ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
“‘ഈ ജനം അധരങ്ങളാൽ എന്നെ ആദരിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ ഹൃദയമോ എന്നിൽനിന്ന് അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
9 And they worship me in vain, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’”
അവർ എന്നെ വ്യർഥമായി ആരാധിക്കുന്നു; അവർ മനുഷ്യരുടെ നിയമങ്ങൾ പ്രമാണങ്ങളായി ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു.’”
10 He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.
പിന്നെ യേശു ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തെ തന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കു വിളിച്ച് അവരോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “ശ്രദ്ധാപൂർവം കേട്ടു മനസ്സിലാക്കുക.
11 That which enters into the mouth does not defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”
മനുഷ്യന്റെ വായിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുന്നതല്ല, പിന്നെയോ വായിൽനിന്ന് പുറപ്പെടുന്നതാണ് ആ വ്യക്തിയെ ‘അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നത്.’”
12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
അപ്പോൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സമീപിച്ച്, “ഈ വചനം പരീശന്മാരെ പ്രകോപിതരാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അങ്ങ് അറിയുന്നോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
13 But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.
യേശു അതിനുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞത്: “എന്റെ സ്വർഗസ്ഥപിതാവു നട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത എല്ലാ തൈയും വേരോടെ പിഴുതുനീക്കപ്പെടും.
14 Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”
അവരെ ഗൗനിക്കേണ്ടതില്ല; അവർ അന്ധരായ വഴികാട്ടികൾ ആകുന്നു. ഒരന്ധൻ മറ്റൊരന്ധനെ നയിച്ചാൽ ഇരുവരും കുഴിയിൽ വീഴും.”
15 Peter answered him, “Explain the parable to us.”
“ആ സാദൃശ്യകഥ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വിശദീകരിച്ചു തരണമേ,” പത്രോസ് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
16 So Jesus said, “Do you also still not understand?
“നിങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോഴും ഇത്ര ബുദ്ധിഹീനരോ?” യേശു അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു.
17 Do not you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly and then out of the body?
“വായിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുന്നതെന്തും വയറ്റിൽ എത്തിയതിനുശേഷം ശരീരത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുറത്തുപോകുന്നെന്ന് അറിയാമല്ലോ.
18 But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.
എന്നാൽ, വായിൽനിന്ന് വരുന്നവയാകട്ടെ, ഹൃദയത്തിൽനിന്ന് വരുന്നവയാകുന്നു; അവയാണ് ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നത്.
19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.
വഷളവിചാരങ്ങൾ, കൊലപാതകം, വ്യഭിചാരം, ലൈംഗികാധർമം, മോഷണം, കള്ളസാക്ഷ്യം, അന്യരെ നിന്ദിക്കൽ എന്നിവ ഹൃദയത്തിൽനിന്നു വരുന്നു;
20 These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.”
ഇവയെല്ലാമാണ് ഒരു വ്യക്തിയെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നത്; എന്നാൽ കഴുകാത്ത കൈകൊണ്ട് ആഹാരം ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നത് ഒരു വ്യക്തിയെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുകയില്ല.”
21 Jesus went out from there and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.
യേശു ആ സ്ഥലംവിട്ടു സോർ, സീദോൻ എന്നീ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
22 Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David! My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!”
അപ്പോൾ അവിടെനിന്നുള്ള കനാൻ നിവാസിയായ ഒരു സ്ത്രീ വന്ന് നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, “കർത്താവേ, ദാവീദുപുത്രാ, എന്നോട് കരുണയുണ്ടാകണമേ! ഒരു ഭൂതം എന്റെ മകളെ ബാധിച്ച് അവളെ അതികഠിനമായി പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
23 But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.”
യേശു ഒരു വാക്കും ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ട് ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന്, “നമുക്ക് പിന്നാലെ നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു വരുന്ന അവളെ പറഞ്ഞയയ്ക്കണമേ” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
24 But he answered, “I was not sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
“ഇസ്രായേലിലെ കാണാതെപോയ ആടുകളുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കുമാത്രമാണ് എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്,” എന്ന് യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
25 But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”
എന്നാൽ, ആ സ്ത്രീ വന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമുമ്പിൽ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണ്, “കർത്താവേ, എന്നെ സഹായിക്കണമേ” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
26 But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
അതിന് യേശു, “മക്കളുടെ അപ്പം എടുത്ത് നായ്ക്കുട്ടികൾക്ക് എറിഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കുന്നത് അനുയോജ്യമല്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27 But she said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
“ശരിയാണ് കർത്താവേ,” അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു. “എങ്കിലും നായ്ക്കുട്ടികളും അവയുടെ യജമാനരുടെ മേശയിൽനിന്ന് വീഴുന്ന അപ്പനുറുക്കുകൾ തിന്നുന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ.”
28 Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.
അപ്പോൾ യേശു, “സ്ത്രീയേ, നിന്റെ വിശ്വാസം വലിയത്! നീ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിനക്ക് ഭവിക്കട്ടെ” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. ആ നിമിഷംതന്നെ അവളുടെ മകൾക്ക് സൗഖ്യം ലഭിച്ചു.
29 Jesus departed from there and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up on the mountain and sat there.
യേശു അവിടംവിട്ട് ഗലീലാതടാകതീരത്തുകൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ച് ഒരു മലമുകളിൽ കയറി, അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു.
30 Great multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,
ഒരു വലിയ ജനക്കൂട്ടം; മുടന്തർ, അന്ധർ, വികലാംഗർ, ഊമകൾ എന്നിങ്ങനെ പലതരം രോഗികളെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കാൽക്കൽ കിടത്തി. യേശു അവർക്കെല്ലാം സൗഖ്യം നൽകി.
31 so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, the injured healed, the lame walking, and the blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.
ഊമകൾ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതും വികലാംഗർ സൗഖ്യമാകുന്നതും മുടന്തർ നടക്കുന്നതും അന്ധർ കാഴ്ചയുള്ളവരായിത്തീരുന്നതും കണ്ട് ജനം ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു. അവർ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവത്തെ പുകഴ്ത്തി.
32 Jesus summoned his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have continued with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way.”
യേശു ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ അടുക്കൽ വിളിച്ച് അവരോട്, “എനിക്ക് ഈ ജനത്തോട് സഹതാപം തോന്നുന്നു. ഇവർ എന്നോടൊപ്പമായിട്ട് മൂന്നുദിവസമായി; ഇവർക്കു ഭക്ഷിക്കാൻ ഒന്നുംതന്നെ ഇല്ല. ഇവരെ വിശപ്പോടെ പറഞ്ഞയയ്ക്കാൻ എനിക്ക് താത്പര്യമില്ല; അവർ വഴിയിൽ തളർന്നുവീഴും.”
33 The disciples said to him, “Where could we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a multitude?”
അതിനു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ, “ഈ വലിയ ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തിനു ആവശ്യമുള്ളത്ര ഭക്ഷണം ഈ വിജനപ്രദേശത്ത് നമുക്ക് എവിടെനിന്നു ലഭിക്കും?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
34 Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”
യേശു അവരോട്, “നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈയിൽ എത്ര അപ്പം ഉണ്ട്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “ഏഴ്, കുറച്ചു ചെറിയ മീനും ഉണ്ട്,” അവർ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
35 He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;
യേശു ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തോട് തറയിലിരിക്കാൻ കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
36 and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.
പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം ആ ഏഴ് അപ്പവും മീനും എടുത്ത് ദൈവത്തിന് സ്തോത്രംചെയ്ത് നുറുക്കി ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ ഏൽപ്പിക്കുകയും അവർ അത് ജനത്തിന് കൊടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
37 They all ate and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.
എല്ലാവരും ഭക്ഷിച്ചു തൃപ്തരായി. ശേഷിച്ച നുറുക്കുകൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ ഏഴു കുട്ട നിറയെ ശേഖരിച്ചു.
38 Those who ate were four thousand men, in addition to women and children.
ഭക്ഷിച്ചവർ സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയുംകൂടാതെ നാലായിരം പുരുഷന്മാർ ആയിരുന്നു.
39 Then he sent away the multitudes, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.
ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തെ യാത്രയയച്ചശേഷം യേശു വള്ളത്തിൽ കയറി മഗദാ ദേശത്തേക്കു പോയി.
