Matthew 15
1 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,
そのころ、パリサイ人や律法学者たちが、エルサレムからイエスのところに来て、言った。
2 “Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”
「あなたの弟子たちは、なぜ昔の先祖たちの言い伝えを犯すのですか。パンを食べるときに手を洗っていないではありませんか。」
3 He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?
そこで、イエスは彼らに答えて言われた。「なぜ、あなたがたも、自分たちの言い伝えのために神の戒めを犯すのですか。
4 For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’
神は『あなたの父と母を敬え。』また『父や母をののしる者は、死刑に処せられる。』と言われたのです。
5 But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,”
それなのに、あなたがたは、『だれでも、父や母に向かって、私からあなたのために差し上げられる物は、供え物になりましたと言う者は、
6 he shall not honor his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.
その物をもって父や母を尊んではならない。』と言っています。こうしてあなたがたは、自分たちの言い伝えのために、神のことばを無にしてしまいました。
7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
偽善者たち。イザヤはあなたがたについて預言しているが、まさにそのとおりです。
8 ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
『この民は、口先ではわたしを敬うが、 その心は、わたしから遠く離れている。
9 And they worship me in vain, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’”
彼らが、わたしを拝んでも、むだなことである。 人間の教えを、教えとして教えるだけだから。』」
10 He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.
イエスは群衆を呼び寄せて言われた。「聞いて悟りなさい。
11 That which enters into the mouth does not defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”
口にはいる物は人を汚しません。しかし、口から出るもの、これが人を汚します。」
12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
そのとき、弟子たちが、近寄って来て、イエスに言った。「パリサイ人が、みことばを聞いて、腹を立てたのをご存じですか。」
13 But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.
しかし、イエスは答えて言われた。「わたしの天の父がお植えにならなかった木は、みな根こそぎにされます。
14 Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”
彼らのことは放っておきなさい。彼らは盲人を手引きする盲人です。もし、盲人が盲人を手引きするなら、ふたりとも穴に落ち込むのです。」
15 Peter answered him, “Explain the parable to us.”
そこで、ペテロは、イエスに答えて言った。「私たちに、そのたとえを説明してください。」
16 So Jesus said, “Do you also still not understand?
イエスは言われた。「あなたがたも、まだわからないのですか。
17 Do not you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly and then out of the body?
口にはいる物はみな、腹にはいり、かわやに捨てられることを知らないのですか。
18 But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.
しかし、口から出るものは、心から出て来ます。それは人を汚します。
19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.
悪い考え、殺人、姦淫、不品行、盗み、偽証、ののしりは心から出て来るからです。
20 These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.”
これらは、人を汚すものです。しかし、洗わない手で食べることは人を汚しません。」
21 Jesus went out from there and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.
それから、イエスはそこを去って、ツロとシドンの地方に立ちのかれた。
22 Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David! My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!”
すると、その地方のカナン人の女が出て来て、叫び声をあげて言った。「主よ。ダビデの子よ。私をあわれんでください。娘が、ひどく悪霊に取りつかれているのです。」
23 But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.”
しかし、イエスは彼女に一言もお答えにならなかった。そこで、弟子たちはみもとに来て、「あの女を帰してやってください。叫びながらあとについて来るのです。」と言ってイエスに願った。
24 But he answered, “I was not sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
しかし、イエスは答えて、「わたしは、イスラエルの家の滅びた羊以外のところには遣わされていません。」と言われた。
25 But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”
しかし、その女は来て、イエスの前にひれ伏して、「主よ。私をお助けください。」と言った。
26 But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
すると、イエスは答えて、「子どもたちのパンを取り上げて、小犬に投げてやるのはよくないことです。」と言われた。
27 But she said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
しかし、女は言った。「主よ。そのとおりです。ただ、小犬でも主人の食卓から落ちるパンくずはいただきます。」
28 Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.
そのとき、イエスは彼女に答えて言われた。「ああ、あなたの信仰はりっぱです。その願いどおりになるように。」すると、彼女の娘はその時から直った。
29 Jesus departed from there and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up on the mountain and sat there.
それから、イエスはそこを去って、ガリラヤ湖の岸を行き、山に登って、そこにすわっておられた。
30 Great multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,
すると、大ぜいの人の群れが、足なえ、不具者、盲人、おしの人、そのほかたくさんの人をみもとに連れて来た。そして、彼らをイエスの足もとに置いたので、イエスは彼らをおいやしになった。
31 so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, the injured healed, the lame walking, and the blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.
それで、群衆は、おしがものを言い、不具者が直り、足なえが歩き、盲人が見えるようになったのを見て、驚いた。そして、彼らはイスラエルの神をあがめた。
32 Jesus summoned his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have continued with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way.”
イエスは弟子たちを呼び寄せて言われた。「かわいそうに、この群衆はもう三日間もわたしといっしょにいて、食べる物を持っていないのです。彼らを空腹のままで帰らせたくありません。途中で動けなくなるといけないから。」
33 The disciples said to him, “Where could we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a multitude?”
そこで弟子たちは言った。「このへんぴな所で、こんなに大ぜいの人に、十分食べさせるほどたくさんのパンが、どこから手にはいるでしょう。」
34 Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”
すると、イエスは彼らに言われた。「どれぐらいパンがありますか。」彼らは言った。「七つです。それに、小さい魚が少しあります。」
35 He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;
すると、イエスは群衆に、地面にすわるように命じられた。
36 and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.
それから、七つのパンと魚とを取り、感謝をささげてからそれを裂き、弟子たちに与えられた。そして、弟子たちは群衆に配った。
37 They all ate and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.
人々はみな、食べて満腹した。そして、パン切れの余りを取り集めると、七つのかごにいっぱいあった。
38 Those who ate were four thousand men, in addition to women and children.
食べた者は、女と子どもを除いて、男四千人であった。
39 Then he sent away the multitudes, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.
それから、イエスは群衆を解散させて舟に乗り、マガダン地方に行かれた。
