Matthew 15
1 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,
それから，ファリサイ人たちと律法学者たちが，エルサレムからイエスのところにやって来て，こう言った。
2 “Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”
「あなたの弟子たちが年長者たちの伝統を破るのはなぜか。彼らはパンを食べる時に自分の手を洗っていないのだ」。
3 He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?
彼は彼らに答えた，「あなた方も自分たちの伝統のゆえに神のおきてを破るのはなぜか。
4 For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’
というのは，神は，『あなたの父と母を敬え』，そして，『父や母を悪く言う者は死刑に処せられるべきだ』と命じられたからだ。
5 But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,”
ところがあなた方はこう言う。『自分の父や母に向かって，「あなたがわたしから得られたはずの役に立つものはみな，神に献納された供え物です」と言うのがだれでも，
6 he shall not honor his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.
その者は自分の父や母を敬ってはならない』と。あなた方は自分たちの伝統のゆえに神の言葉を無効にしている。
7 You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
偽善者たち！ イザヤは，あなた方偽善者たちについてみごとに預言した。こう言われていた。
8 ‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
『この民は口でわたしに近づき，唇でわたしを敬うが，その心はわたしから遠く離れている。
9 And they worship me in vain, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’”
彼らがわたしを崇拝するのは無駄なことだ，人間の作った規則を教理として教えているからだ』」 。
10 He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.
群衆を呼び寄せて，彼らに言った，「聞いて，理解しなさい。
11 That which enters into the mouth does not defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”
口から入って来るものは人を汚さない。口から出て行くものが人を汚すのだ」 。
12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
その時，弟子たちが近寄って来て，彼に言った，「今の言葉を聞いて，ファリサイ人たちが不快になったのをご存じですか」。
13 But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.
しかし彼は答えた，「わたしの天の父が植えられたのではない植物は，すべて根こそぎにされるだろう。
14 Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”
彼らをそのままにしておきなさい。彼らは盲人のための盲目の案内人だ。盲人が盲人を導くなら，両方とも穴に落ちてしまうだろう」 。
15 Peter answered him, “Explain the parable to us.”
ペトロが彼に答えた，「あのたとえをわたしたちに説明してください」。
16 So Jesus said, “Do you also still not understand?
するとイエスは言った，「あなた方もまだ理解していないのか。
17 Do not you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly and then out of the body?
すべて口から入るものは，腹の中を通って，それから体の外に出て行くということが分からないのか。
18 But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.
だが，口から出て来るものは心から出て来るのであり，それがその人を汚す。
19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.
というのは，心の中から，悪い考え，殺人，姦淫，淫行，盗み，偽りの証言，冒とくが出て来るからだ。
20 These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.”
これらのものが人を汚すのだ。だが，洗っていない手で食事をすることが人を汚すことはない」 。
21 Jesus went out from there and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.
イエスはそこから出発し，テュロスとシドンの地方へ去って行った。
22 Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David! My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!”
見よ，その地方出身のカナナイ人の女が出て来て，叫んで言った，「主よ，ダビデの子よ，わたしをあわれんでください！ わたしの娘がひどく悪霊につかれています！」
23 But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.”
しかし彼は彼女に一言も答えなかった。 弟子たちが近寄って来て，彼に願ってこう言った。「彼女を追い払ってください。わたしたちの後ろで叫んでいますから」。
24 But he answered, “I was not sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
しかし彼は答えた，「わたしはイスラエルの家の失われた羊のほかにはだれのところにも遣わされなかった」 。
25 But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”
しかし彼女は来て，彼を拝んで言った，「主よ，わたしをお助けください」。
26 But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
しかし彼は答えた，「子供たちのパンを取って犬たちに投げ与えるのはふさわしくない」 。
27 But she said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
しかし彼女は言った，「そうです，主よ。でも，犬たちでさえ，その主人たちの食卓から落ちたパンくずを食べるのです」。
28 Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.
それで彼は彼女に答えた，「女よ，あなたの信仰は偉大だ。あなたの望むとおりのことが起きるように」 。すると，彼女の娘はその時刻にいやされた。
29 Jesus departed from there and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up on the mountain and sat there.
イエスはそこを去って，ガリラヤの海の近くにやって来た。そして山の中に上って行き，そこに座った。
30 Great multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,
大群衆が，足の不自由な人，目の見えない人，体の不自由な人，その他大勢の人を連れて，彼のもとにやって来た。そして彼らを彼の足もとに置いた。彼は彼らをいやした。
31 so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, the injured healed, the lame walking, and the blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.
そのため群衆は，口のきけない人がものを言い，傷を負った人が健康になり，足の不自由な人が歩き，目の見えない人が見えるようになったのを目にして驚き，イスラエルの神に栄光をささげた。
32 Jesus summoned his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have continued with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way.”
イエスは弟子たちを呼び寄せて言った，「わたしは群衆に対して哀れみを抱く。彼らはもう三日もわたしと共にいるのに，食べる物を何も持っていないからだ。 わたしは彼らを空腹のままで去らせたくはない。そんなことをすれば，彼らは途中で気を失ってしまうかも知れない」 。
33 The disciples said to him, “Where could we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a multitude?”
弟子たちは彼に言った，「この寂しい場所で，これほどの大群衆を満足させるほど多くのパンをどこから手に入れるのですか」。
34 Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”
イエスは彼らに言った，「あなた方はパンを幾つ持っているのか」 。 彼らは言った，「七つです。それに小さな魚が少し」。
35 He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;
彼は地面に座るよう群衆に命じ，
36 and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.
七つのパンと魚を取った。感謝をささげてからそれを裂き，弟子たちに与え，弟子たちが群衆に与えた。
37 They all ate and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.
人々は食べて満ち足りた。彼らは余ったパン切れを七つのかごいっぱいに拾い集めた。
38 Those who ate were four thousand men, in addition to women and children.
食べたのは，女と子供を除いて，四千人の男たちであった。
39 Then he sent away the multitudes, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.
それから彼は群衆を去らせ，舟に乗り，マグダラ地方に入った。
