< Judges 6 >

1 The children of Israel did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, so the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì túnṣe ohun tí ó burú ní ojú Olúwa, Ó sì fi wọ́n lé àwọn ará Midiani lọ́wọ́ fún ọdún méje.
2 The hand of Midian prevailed against Israel; and because of Midian the children of Israel made themselves the dens which are in the mountains, the caves, and the strongholds.
Agbára àwọn ará Midiani sì pọ̀ púpọ̀ lórí àwọn Israẹli, wọ́n sì hùwà ipá sí wọn, nítorí ìdí èyí, àwọn Israẹli sálọ sí àwọn orí òkè, wọ́n sì kọ́ àgọ́ fún ara wọn nínú ihò àpáta, àti nínú ọ̀gbun àti ní ibi agbára nínú àpáta.
3 So it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites, the Amalekites, and the children of the east came up against them.
Ní ìgbàkúgbà tí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli bá ti gbin ọ̀gbìn wọn, àwọn ará Midiani, àwọn ará Amaleki àti àwọn ará ìlà-oòrùn mìíràn yóò wá láti bá wọn jà.
4 They encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, until you come to Gaza. They left no sustenance in Israel, and no sheep, ox, or donkey.
Wọn yóò tẹ̀dó sí orí ilẹ̀ náà, wọn a sì bá irúgbìn wọ̀nyí jẹ́ títí dé Gasa, wọn kì í sì í fi ohun alààyè kankan sílẹ̀ fún àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, kì bá à ṣe àgùntàn, màlúù tàbí kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́.
5 For they came up with their livestock and their tents. They came in as locusts for multitude. Both they and their camels were without number; and they came into the land to destroy it.
Wọn a máa wá pẹ̀lú ohun ọ̀sìn wọn àti àwọn àgọ́ wọn, wọn a sì dàbí eṣú nítorí i púpọ̀ wọn. Ènìyàn kò sì lè ka iye àwọn ènìyàn náà bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ìbákasẹ, wọ́n pọ̀ dé bi pé wọn kò ṣe é kà ní iye, wọn a bo ilẹ̀ náà wọn a sì jẹ ẹ́ run.
6 Israel was brought very low because of Midian; and the children of Israel cried to the LORD.

7 When the children of Israel cried to the LORD because of Midian,
Nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ké pe Olúwa nítorí àwọn ará Midiani.
8 The LORD sent a prophet to the children of Israel; and he said to them, “The LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you out of the house of bondage.
Olúwa fi etí sí igbe wọn, ó sì rán wòlíì kan sí wọn, ẹni tí ó wí pé, “Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli wí: mo mú yín gòkè ti Ejibiti wá, láti oko ẹrú.

Mo wí fún un yín pé, ‘Èmi ni Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín; ẹ má ṣe sin àwọn òrìṣà àwọn ará Amori, ní ilẹ̀ ẹni tí ẹ̀yin ń gbé.’ Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin kò gbọ́rọ̀ sí ohun tí mo sọ.”
11 The LORD’s angel came and sat under the oak which was in Ophrah, that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite. His son Gideon was beating out wheat in the wine press, to hide it from the Midianites.
Ní ọjọ́ kan angẹli Olúwa wá, ó sì jókòó ní abẹ́ igi óákù Ofira èyí ti ṣe ti Joaṣi ará Abieseri, níbi tí Gideoni ọmọ rẹ̀ ti ń lu ọkà jéró, níbi ìpọntí wáìnì láti fi pamọ́ kúrò níwájú àwọn ará Midiani.
12 The LORD’s angel appeared to him, and said to him, “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!”
Nígbà tí angẹli Olúwa fi ara han Gideoni, ó wí fún un pé, “Olúwa wà pẹ̀lú rẹ, akọni ológun.”
13 Gideon said to him, “Oh, my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? Where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian.”
Gideoni dáhùn pé, “Alàgbà, bí Olúwa bá wà pẹ̀lú wa, kí ló dé tí gbogbo ìwọ̀nyí fi ń ṣẹlẹ̀ sí wa? Níbi gbogbo àwọn iṣẹ́ ìyanu rẹ tí àwọn baba wa ròyìn rẹ̀ fún wa nígbà tí wọ́n wí pé, ‘Olúwa kò ha mú wa gòkè láti ilẹ̀ Ejibiti wá?’ Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí Olúwa ti kọ̀ wá sílẹ̀, ó sì ti fi wá lé àwọn ará Midiani lọ́wọ́.”
14 The LORD looked at him, and said, “Go in this your might, and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have not I sent you?”
Olúwa sì yípadà sí i, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Lọ nínú agbára tí o ní yìí, kí o sì gba àwọn ará Israẹli sílẹ̀ kúrò lọ́wọ́ àwọn ará Midiani. Èmi ni ó ń rán ọ lọ.”
15 He said to him, “O Lord, how shall I save Israel? Behold, my family is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”
Gideoni sì dáhùn pé, “Yéè olúwa mi, ọ̀nà wo ni èmi yóò fi gba Israẹli là? Ìdílé mi ni ó jẹ́ aláìlera jù ní Manase, àti pé èmi ni ó sì kéré jù ní ìdílé baba mi.”
16 The LORD said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.”
Olúwa sì dáhùn pé, “Èmi yóò wà pẹ̀lú rẹ, ìwọ yóò sì pa gbogbo àwọn ará Midiani láì ku ẹnìkankan.”
17 He said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, then show me a sign that it is you who talk with me.
Gideoni sì dáhùn pé, nísinsin yìí tí mo bá bá ojúrere rẹ pàdé, fún mi ní àmì pé ìwọ ni ń bá mi sọ̀rọ̀.
18 Please do not go away until I come to you, and bring out my present, and lay it before you.” He said, “I will wait until you come back.”

19 Gideon went in and prepared a young goat and unleavened cakes of an ephah of meal. He put the meat in a basket and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out to him under the oak, and presented it.
Gideoni sì yára wọ ilé lọ, ó sì pa ọ̀dọ́ ewúrẹ́ kan, wọ́n sì sè é, ó sì mú ìyẹ̀fun efa kan, ó fi ṣe àkàrà aláìwú. Ó gbé ẹran náà sínú agbọ̀n, ṣùgbọ́n ó fi ọbẹ̀ rẹ̀ sínú ìkòkò, ó gbé wọn jáde tọ angẹli náà wá bí ọrẹ lábẹ́ igi óákù.
20 The angel of God said to him, “Take the meat and the unleavened cakes, and lay them on this rock, and pour out the broth.” He did so.
Angẹli Ọlọ́run náà sì wí fún un pé, “Gbé ẹran náà àti àkàrà àìwú náà, sí orí àpáta yìí, kí o sì da omi ọbẹ̀ rẹ̀ sí orí rẹ̀.” Gideoni sì ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀.
21 Then the LORD’s angel stretched out the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the meat and the unleavened cakes; and fire went up out of the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened cakes. Then the LORD’s angel departed out of his sight.
Angẹli Olúwa sì fi orí ọ̀pá tí ó wà ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀ kan ẹran àti àkàrà àìwú náà. Iná sì jáde láti inú àpáta, ó sì jó ẹran àti àkàrà náà, kò sì rí angẹli náà mọ́.
22 Gideon saw that he was the LORD’s angel; and Gideon said, “Alas, Lord GOD! Because I have seen the LORD’s angel face to face!”
Nígbà tí Gideoni sì ti mọ̀ dájúdájú pé angẹli Olúwa ni, ó ké wí pé, “Háà! Olúwa Olódùmarè! Mo ti rí angẹli Olúwa ní ojúkorojú!”
23 The LORD said to him, “Peace be to you! Do not be afraid. You shall not die.”
Ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa wí fún un pé, “Àlàáfíà! Má ṣe bẹ̀rù, ìwọ kì yóò kùú.”
24 Then Gideon built an altar there to the LORD, and called it “The LORD is Peace.” To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
Báyìí ni Gideoni mọ pẹpẹ kan fún Olúwa níbẹ̀, ó sì pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní “Àlàáfíà ni Olúwa.” Ó sì wà ní Ofira ti Abieseri títí di òní.
25 That same night, the LORD said to him, “Take your father’s bull, even the second bull seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the Asherah that is by it.
Ní òru ọjọ́ náà Olúwa wí fún un pé, mú akọ màlúù baba rẹ, àní akọ màlúù kejì ọlọ́dún méje. Wó pẹpẹ Baali baba rẹ lulẹ̀, kí o sì bẹ́ igi ère òrìṣà Aṣerah tí ó wà ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ rẹ̀ lulẹ̀.
26 Then build an altar to the LORD your God on the top of this stronghold, in an orderly way, and take the second bull, and offer a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah which you shall cut down.”
Lẹ́yìn èyí kí o wá mọ pẹpẹ èyí tí ó yẹ fún Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ lórí òkè yìí. Kí o sì mú akọ màlúù kejì, kí o sì mú igi ère òrìṣà Aṣerah tí ìwọ bẹ́ lulẹ̀ rú ẹbọ sísun sí Olúwa.
27 Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had spoken to him. Because he feared his father’s household and the men of the city, he could not do it by day, but he did it by night.
Gideoni mú mẹ́wàá nínú àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀, ó sì ṣe bí Olúwa ti pàṣẹ fún un ṣùgbọ́n, nítorí ó bẹ̀rù àwọn ará ilé baba rẹ̀ àti àwọn ènìyàn ìlú náà kò ṣe é ní ọ̀sán, òru ni ó ṣe.
28 When the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was broken down, and the Asherah was cut down that was by it, and the second bull was offered on the altar that was built.
Nígbà tí ilẹ̀ ọjọ́ kejì mọ́, tí àwọn ènìyàn ìlú náà jí, wọ́n rí i pé àti fọ́ pẹpẹ Baali àti pé a ti bẹ́ igi ère òrìṣà Aṣerah tí ó wà ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ rẹ̀, a sì ti fi akọ màlúù kejì rú ẹbọ lórí pẹpẹ tí a ṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀ mọ.
29 They said to one another, “Who has done this thing?” When they inquired and asked, they said, “Gideon the son of Joash has done this thing.”
Àwọn ènìyàn ìlú náà bi ara wọn wí pé, “Ta ni ó ṣe èyí?” Lẹ́yìn tí wọn fi ara balẹ̀ ṣe ìwádìí, wọ́n gbọ́ wí pé, “Gideoni ọmọ Joaṣi ni ó ṣe é.”
30 Then the men of the city said to Joash, “Bring out your son, that he may die, because he has broken down the altar of Baal, and because he has cut down the Asherah that was by it.”
Àwọn ọkùnrin ìlú náà sì wí fún Joaṣi wí pé, “Mú ọmọ rẹ jáde wá. Ó ní láti kú nítorí pé ó ti wó pẹpẹ Baali lulẹ̀ ó sì ti ké ère òrìṣà Aṣerah tí ó wà ní ẹ̀bá rẹ̀ lulẹ̀.”
31 Joash said to all who stood against him, “Will you contend for Baal? Or will you save him? He who will contend for him, let him be put to death by morning! If he is a god, let him contend for himself, because someone has broken down his altar!”
Ṣùgbọ́n Joaṣi bi àwọn èrò tí wọ́n fi ìbínú dúró tì í wí pé, “Ẹ̀yin yóò ha gbìjà Baali bí? Ẹ̀yin yóò ha gbà á sílẹ̀ bí? Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá gbìjà rẹ̀ kíkú ni olúwa rẹ̀ yóò kú ní òwúrọ̀. Bí Baali bá ṣe Ọlọ́run nítòótọ́ yóò jà fún ara rẹ̀ bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá wó pẹpẹ rẹ̀ lulẹ̀.”
32 Therefore on that day he named him Jerub-Baal, saying, “Let Baal contend against him, because he has broken down his altar.”
Fún ìdí èyí ní ọjọ́ náà wọ́n pe Gideoni ní “Jerubbaali” wí pé, “Jẹ́ kí Baali bá a jà,” nítorí pé ó ti wó pẹpẹ Baali.
33 Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east assembled themselves together; and they passed over, and encamped in the valley of Jezreel.
Láìpẹ́ jọjọ, àwọn ogun àwọn Midiani, ti àwọn Amaleki àti ti àwọn ènìyàn ìhà ìlà-oòrùn yòókù kó ara wọn jọ pọ̀ ní ìṣọ̀kan, wọ́n sì kọjá Jordani wọ́n sì tẹ̀dó sí àfonífojì Jesreeli.
34 But the LORD’s Spirit came on Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abiezer was gathered together to follow him.
Ẹ̀mí Olúwa sì bà lé Gideoni, ó sì fun fèrè ìpè, láti pe àwọn ará Abieseri láti tẹ̀lé òun.
35 He sent messengers throughout all Manasseh, and they also were gathered together to follow him. He sent messengers to Asher, to Zebulun, and to Naphtali; and they came up to meet them.

36 Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand, as you have spoken,
Gideoni wí fún Ọlọ́run pé, “Bí ìwọ yóò bá gba Israẹli là nípasẹ̀ mi bí ìwọ ti ṣe ìlérí—

38 It was so; for he rose up early on the next day, and pressed the fleece together, and wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.
Èyí ni ó sì ṣẹlẹ̀. Nígbà tí Gideoni jí ní òwúrọ̀ ọjọ́ kejì, ó sì fún irun àgùntàn náà, ọpọ́n omi kan sì kún.
39 Gideon said to God, “Do not let your anger be kindled against me, and I will speak but this once. Please let me make a trial just this once with the fleece. Let it now be dry only on the fleece, and on all the ground let there be dew.”
Gideoni sì tún wí fún Ọlọ́run pé, “Jọ̀wọ́ má ṣe bínú sí mi, ṣùgbọ́n jẹ́ kí n tún wá ìdánilójú kan sí i, èmi bẹ̀ ọ́ jẹ́ kí n fi awọ irun yìí ṣe ìdánwò kan sí i. Ní àsìkò yìí, jẹ́ kí awọ irun yìí gbẹ kí gbogbo ilẹ̀ sì tutù pẹ̀lú ìrì.”
40 God did so that night; for it was dry on the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.
Ní òru náà Ọlọ́run ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀, awọ irun àgùntàn nìkan ni ó gbẹ; gbogbo ilẹ̀ yòókù sì tutù nítorí ìrì.
