John 16

1 “I have said these things to you so that you would not be caused to stumble.

“Os he dicho esto para que no os escandalicéis.

2 They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.

Os excluirán de las sinagogas; y aun vendrá tiempo en que cualquiera que os quite la vida, creerá hacer un obsequio a Dios.

3 They will do these things because they have not known the Father nor me.

Y os harán esto, porque no han conocido al Padre, ni a Mí.

4 But I have told you these things so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I did not tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.

Os he dicho esto, para que, cuando el tiempo venga, os acordéis que Yo os lo había dicho. No os lo dije desde el comienzo, porque Yo estaba con vosotros.

5 But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’

Y ahora Yo me voy al que me envió, y ninguno de vosotros me pregunta: ¿Adónde vas?

6 But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.

sino que la tristeza ha ocupado vuestros corazones porque os he dicho esto.

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

Sin embargo, os lo digo en verdad: Os conviene que me vaya; porque, si Yo no me voy, el Intercesor no vendrá a vosotros; mas si me voy, os lo enviaré.

8 When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;

Y cuando Él venga, presentará querella al mundo, por capítulo de pecado, por capítulo de justicia, y por capítulo de juicio:

9 about sin, because they do not believe in me;

por capítulo de pecado, porque no han creído en Mí;

10 about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you will not see me any more;

por capítulo de justicia, porque Yo me voy a mi Padre, y vosotros no me veréis más;

11 about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.

por capítulo de juicio, porque el príncipe de este mundo está juzgado.

12 “I still have many things to tell you, but you cannot bear them now.

Tengo todavía mucho que deciros, pero no podéis soportarlo ahora.

13 However, when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.

Cuando venga Aquel, el Espíritu de verdad, Él os conducirá a toda la verdad; porque Él no hablará por Sí mismo, sino que dirá lo que habrá oído, y os anunciará las cosas por venir.

14 He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine and will declare it to you.

Él me glorificará, porque tomará de lo mío, y os ( lo ) declarará. Todo cuanto tiene el Padre es mío;

15 All things that the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine and will declare it to you.

por eso dije que Él tomará de lo mío, y os ( lo ) declarará”.

16 “A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me.”

“Un poco de tiempo y ya no me veréis: y de nuevo un poco, y me volveréis a ver, porque me voy al Padre”.

17 Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;’ and, ‘Because I go to the Father’?”

Entonces algunos de sus discípulos se dijeron unos a otros: “¿Qué es esto que nos dice: «Un poco, y ya no me veréis; y de nuevo un poco, y me volveréis a ver» y: «Me voy al Padre?»”

18 They said therefore, “What is this that he says, ‘A little while’? We do not know what he is saying.”

Y decían: “¿Qué es este «poco» de que habla? No sabemos lo que quiere decir”.

19 Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, “Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’?

Mas Jesús conoció que tenían deseo de interrogarlo, y les dijo: “Os preguntáis entre vosotros que significa lo que acabo de decir: «Un poco, y ya no me veréis, y de nuevo un poco, y me volveréis a ver».

20 Most certainly I tell you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.

En verdad, en verdad, os digo, vosotros vais a llorar y gemir, mientras que el mundo se va a regocijar. Estaréis contristados, pero vuestra tristeza se convertirá en gozo.

21 A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she does not remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.

La mujer, en el momento de dar a luz, tiene tristeza, porque su hora ha llegado; pero, cuando su hijo ha nacido, no se acuerda más de su dolor, por el gozo de que ha nacido un hombre al mundo.

22 Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

Así también vosotros, tenéis ahora tristeza, pero Yo volveré a veros, y entonces vuestro corazón se alegrará y nadie os podrá quitar vuestro gozo.

23 “In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.

En aquel día no me preguntaréis más sobre nada. En verdad, en verdad, os digo, lo que pidiereis al Padre, Él os lo dará en mi nombre.

24 Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.

Hasta ahora no habéis pedido nada en mi nombre. Pedid, y recibiréis, para que vuestro gozo sea colmado”.

25 “I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father.

“Os he dicho estas cosas en parábolas; viene la hora en que no os hablaré más en parábolas, sino que abiertamente os daré noticia del Padre.

26 In that day you will ask in my name; and I do not say to you that I will pray to the Father for you,

En aquel día pediréis en mi nombre, y no digo que Yo rogaré al Padre por vosotros,

27 for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came from God.

pues el Padre os ama Él mismo, porque vosotros me habéis amado, y habéis creído que Yo vine de Dios.

28 I came from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.”

Salí del Padre, y vine al mundo; otra vez dejo el mundo, y retorno al Padre”.

29 His disciples said to him, “Behold, now you are speaking plainly, and using no figures of speech.

Dijéronle los discípulos: “He aquí que ahora nos hablas claramente y sin parábolas.

30 Now we know that you know all things, and do not need for anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came from God.”

Ahora sabemos que conoces todo, y no necesitas que nadie te interrogue. Por esto creemos que has venido de Dios”.

31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?

Pero Jesús les respondió: “¿Creéis ya ahora?

32 Behold, the time is coming, yes, and has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

Pues he aquí que viene la hora, y ya ha llegado, en que os dispersaréis cada uno por su lado, dejándome enteramente solo. Pero, Yo no estoy solo, porque el Padre está conmigo.

33 I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”

Os he dicho estas cosas, para que halléis paz en Mí. En el mundo pasáis apreturas, pero tened confianza: Yo he vencido al mundo”.
