< Job 1 >

1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turned away from evil.
Ọkùnrin kan wà ní ilẹ̀ Usi, orúkọ ẹni tí í jẹ́ Jobu; ọkùnrin náà sì ṣe olóòtítọ́, ó dúró ṣinṣin, ẹni tí ó bẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run, tí ó kórìíra ìwà búburú.
2 There were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
A sì bi ọmọkùnrin méje àti ọmọbìnrin mẹ́ta fún un.
3 His possessions also were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the children of the east.
Ohun ọ̀sìn rẹ̀ sì jẹ́ ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbàárin àgùntàn, àti ẹgbẹ̀rún mẹ́ta ìbákasẹ, àti ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀ta àjàgà ọ̀dá màlúù, àti ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀ta abo kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́, ó sì pọ̀; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọkùnrin yìí sì pọ̀jù gbogbo àwọn ará ìlà-oòrùn lọ.
4 His sons went and held a feast in the house of each one on his birthday; and they sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
Àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ a sì máa lọ í jẹun àsè nínú ilé ara wọn, olúkúlùkù ní ọjọ́ rẹ̀; wọn a sì máa ránṣẹ́ pé arábìnrin wọn mẹ́tẹ̀ẹ̀ta láti jẹun àti láti pẹ̀lú wọn.
5 It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.
Ó sì ṣe, nígbà tí ọjọ́ àsè wọn pé yíká, ni Jobu ránṣẹ́ lọ í yà wọ́n sí mímọ́, ó sì dìde ní kùtùkùtù òwúrọ̀, ó sì rú ẹbọ sísun níwọ̀n iye gbogbo wọn; nítorí tí Jobu wí pé: bóyá àwọn ọmọ mi ti ṣẹ̀, wọn kò sì ṣọpẹ́ fún Ọlọ́run lọ́kàn wọn. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ní Jobu máa ń ṣe nígbà gbogbo.
6 Now on the day when God’s sons came to present themselves before the LORD, Satan also came among them.
Ǹjẹ́ ó di ọjọ́ kan, nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ Ọlọ́run wá í pé níwájú Olúwa, Satani sì wá pẹ̀lú wọn.
7 The LORD said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, “From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.”
Olúwa sì bi Satani wí pé, “Níbo ni ìwọ ti wá?” Nígbà náà ní Satani dá Olúwa lóhùn wí pé, “Ní ìlọsíwá-sẹ́yìn lórí ilẹ̀ ayé, àti ní ìrìnkèrindò nínú rẹ̀.”
8 The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is no one like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil.”
Olúwa sì sọ fún Satani pé, “Ìwọ ha kíyèsi Jobu ìránṣẹ́ mi, pé kò sí ẹni tí ó dàbí rẹ̀ ní ayé, ọkùnrin tí í ṣe olóòtítọ́, tí ó sì dúró ṣinṣin, ẹni tí ó bẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run, ti ó sì kórìíra ìwà búburú.”
9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing?
Nígbà náà ni Satani dá Olúwa lóhùn wí pé, “Jobu ha bẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run ní asán bí?”
10 Have not you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
“Ìwọ kò ha ti ṣọgbà yìí ká, àti yí ilé rẹ̀ àti yí ohun tí ó ní ká, ní ìhà gbogbo? Ìwọ bùsi iṣẹ́ ọwọ́ rẹ̀, ohun ọ̀sìn rẹ̀ sì ń pọ̀ si ní ilẹ̀.
11 But stretch out your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will renounce you to your face.”
Ǹjẹ́, nawọ́ rẹ nísinsin yìí, kí ó sì fi tọ́ ohun gbogbo tí ó ni; bí kì yóò sì bọ́hùn ni ojú rẹ.”
12 The LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
Olúwa sì dá Satani lóhùn wí pé, “Kíyèsi i, ohun gbogbo tí ó ní ń bẹ ní ìkáwọ́ rẹ, kìkì òun tìkára rẹ̀ ni ìwọ kò gbọdọ̀ fi ọwọ́ rẹ kàn.” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Satani jáde lọ kúrò níwájú Olúwa.
13 It fell on a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,
Ó sì di ọjọ́ kan nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ ọkùnrin àti obìnrin, tí wọ́n mu ọtí wáìnì nínú ilé ẹ̀gbọ́n wọn ọkùnrin,

oníṣẹ́ kan sì tọ Jobu wá wí pé, “Àwọn ọ̀dá màlúù ń tulẹ̀, àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ sì ń jẹ ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ wọn,
15 and the Sabeans attacked, and took them away. Yes, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
àwọn ará Sabeani sì kọlù wọ́n, wọ́n sì ń kó wọn lọ pẹ̀lú, wọ́n ti fi idà sá àwọn ìránṣẹ́ pa, èmi nìkan ṣoṣo ní ó sá àsálà láti ròyìn fún ọ.”
16 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God has fallen from the sky, and has burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
Bí ó ti ń sọ ní ẹnu; ẹnìkan dé pẹ̀lú tí ó sì wí pé, “Iná ńlá Ọlọ́run ti ọ̀run bọ́ sí ilẹ̀, ó sì jó àwọn àgùntàn àti àwọn ìránṣẹ́; èmi nìkan ṣoṣo ní ó sálà láti ròyìn fún ọ.”
17 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans made three bands, and swept down on the camels, and have taken them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
Bí ó sì ti ń sọ ní ẹnu, ẹnìkan sì dé pẹ̀lú tí ó wí pé, “Àwọn ará Kaldea píngun sí ọ̀nà mẹ́ta, wọ́n sì kọlù àwọn ìbákasẹ, wọ́n sì kó wọn lọ, pẹ̀lúpẹ̀lú wọ́n sì fi idà sá àwọn ìránṣẹ́ pa; èmi nìkan ṣoṣo ni ó sá àsálà láti ròyìn fún ọ!”
18 While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, “Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,
Bí ó ti ń sọ ní ẹnu, ẹnìkan dé pẹ̀lú tí ó sì wí pé àwọn ọmọ rẹ ọkùnrin àti obìnrin ń jẹ, wọ́n ń mu ọtí wáìnì nínú ilé ẹ̀gbọ́n.
19 and behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you.”
Sì kíyèsi i, ẹ̀fúùfù ńlá ńlá ti ìhà ijù fẹ́ wá kọlu igun mẹ́rẹ̀ẹ̀rin ilé, ó sì wó lu àwọn ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin náà, wọ́n sì kú, èmi nìkan ṣoṣo ni ó yọ láti ròyìn fún ọ.
20 Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshiped.
Nígbà náà ni Jobu dìde, ó sì fa aṣọ ìgúnwà rẹ̀ ya, ó sì fá orí rẹ̀ ó wólẹ̀ ó sì gbàdúrà
21 He said, “Naked I came out of my mother’s womb, and naked will I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the LORD’s name.”
wí pé, “Ní ìhòhò ní mo ti inú ìyá mi jáde wá, ni ìhòhò ní èmi yóò sì tún padà lọ. Olúwa fi fún ni, Olúwa sì gbà á lọ, ìbùkún ni fún orúkọ Olúwa.”
22 In all this, Job did not sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.
Nínú gbogbo èyí Jobu kò ṣẹ̀, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kò sì fi òmùgọ̀ pe Ọlọ́run lẹ́jọ́.
