Job 26
1 Then Job answered,
Porém Job respondeu e disse:
2 “How have you helped him who is without power! How have you saved the arm that has no strength!
Como ajudaste aquele que não tinha força? e sustentaste o braço que não tinha vigor?
3 How have you counseled him who has no wisdom, and plentifully declared sound knowledge!
Como aconselhaste aquele que não tinha sabedoria, e plenamente lhe fizeste saber a causa, assim como era?
4 To whom have you uttered words? Whose spirit came out of you?
A quem proferiste palavras? e cujo é o espírito que saiu de ti?
5 “The departed spirits tremble, those beneath the waters and all that live in them.
Os mortos tremem debaixo das águas, com os seus moradores delas.
O inferno está nu perante ele, e não há coberta para a perdição. (Sheol h7585)
7 He stretches out the north over empty space, and hangs the earth on nothing.
O norte estende sobre o vazio: a terra pendura sobre o nada.
8 He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not burst under them.
Prende as águas nas suas nuvens, todavia a nuvem não se rasga debaixo delas.
9 He encloses the face of his throne, and spreads his cloud on it.
Encobre a face do seu trono, e sobre ela estende a sua nuvem.
10 He has described a boundary on the surface of the waters, and to the confines of light and darkness.
Assinalou limite sobre a superfície das águas ao redor delas, até que se acabem a luz e as trevas.
11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his rebuke.
As colunas do céu tremem, e se espantam da sua ameaça.
12 He stirs up the sea with his power, and by his understanding he strikes through Rahab.
Com a sua força fende o mar, e com o seu entendimento abate a sua soberba.
13 By his Spirit the heavens are garnished. His hand has pierced the swift serpent.
Pelo seu espírito ornou os céus: a sua mão formou a serpente enroscadiça.
14 Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways. How small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?”
Eis que isto são só as bordas dos seus caminhos; e quão pouco é o que temos ouvido dele! Quem pois entenderia o trovão do seu poder?
