< Jeremiah 49 >

1 Of the children of Ammon. The LORD says: “Has Israel no sons? Has he no heir? Why then does Malcam possess Gad, and his people dwell in its cities?
Ammon kaminawk kawng pongah, Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; Israel loe capa tawn ai maw? Qawktoepkung tawn ai ah maw a oh? To tih nahaeloe tipongah nihcae ih siangpahrang mah Gad acaeng to qawk ah lak moe, anih ih kaminawk vangpui thungah khosak o loe?
2 Therefore behold, the days come,” says the LORD, “that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and it will become a desolate heap, and her daughters will be burned with fire; then Israel will possess those who possessed him,” says the LORD.
To pongah khenah, Ammon kaminawk ohhaih Rabbah ah misa angtukhaih lok thaihaih atue to pha tih; to ahmuen loe tapop cuu ih ahmuen kamro ah om ueloe, a canunawk to hmai hoiah thlaek o tih, tiah Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih; to naah Ammon mah toep han koi hmuen to Israel mah toep tih boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
3 “Wail, Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste! Cry, you daughters of Rabbah! Clothe yourself in sackcloth. Lament, and run back and forth among the fences; for Malcam will go into captivity, his priests and his princes together.
Aw Heshbon hang ah, Ai loe amro boeh! Nangcae Rabbah canunawk, kazii to angzaeng oh; qah oh loe sipae taengah ahnuk ahmaa cawn oh, nihcae ih siangpahrang loe angmah ih qaimanawk, angraengnawk hoi nawnto misong ah caeh tih boeh.
4 Why do you boast in the valleys, your flowing valley, backsliding daughter? You trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come to me?’
Kai tuk hanah mi maw angzo tih, tiah kathui, a tawnh o ih hmuenmae oephaih hoiah hnukbang ah amlaem canunawk, tipongah athii longhaih ah kaom azawn to nam oek o haih loe?
5 Behold, I will bring a terror on you,” says the Lord, GOD of Armies, “from all who are around you. All of you will be driven completely out, and there will be no one to gather together the fugitives.
Khenah, na nuiah tasoehhaih phaksak hanah, na taengah kaom kaminawk to kang patoeh han, tiah misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng mah thuih; nangcae to na haek o boih tih, mi mah doeh kamhet kaminawk to tacuu let mak ai.
6 “But afterward I will reverse the captivity of the children of Ammon,” says the LORD.
To pacoengah ni, Ammon kaminawk to misong thung hoiah ka zaeh let han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
7 Of Edom, the LORD of Armies says: “Is wisdom no more in Teman? Has counsel perished from the prudent? Has their wisdom vanished?
Edom kawng pongah, misatuh kaminawk ih Angraeng Sithaw mah hae tiah thuih; Teman ah palunghahaih om ai boeh maw? Palungha kaminawk mah paek ih poekhaih loe anghmat boeh maw?
8 Flee! Turn back! Dwell in the depths, inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau on him when I visit him.
Nangcae Dedan ah kaom kaminawk, hnuk angqoi oh, cawn oh loe, kathuk ahmuen ah anghawk oh; Esau thuitaekhaih ni, amrohaih to na nuiah ka phaksak han.
9 If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? If thieves came by night, would not they steal until they had enough?
Misurthaih pakhrik kaminawk mah athaih pakhrik han ih nangcae khaeah angzoh o naah, misurthaih pakhrik boih ai ah zetta anghmat o sak na ai maw? Paquk hanah aqum ah kamqu angzoh naah doeh a koeh ih hmuen khue na ai maw paquk?
10 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he will not be able to hide himself. His offspring is destroyed, with his brothers and his neighbors; and he is no more.
Toe Esau ih khukbuen to ka khram pae han; anih anghawkhaih ahmuen to kam tuengsak han, anih loe anghawk thai mak ai; a caanawk, angmah ih nawkamyanawk hoi a imtaeng kaminawk to amro o ueloe, angmah to doeh anghmaa angtaa tih.
11 Leave your fatherless children. I will preserve them alive. Let your widows trust in me.”
Amno ampa tawn ai nawktanawk to caehtaak ah; nihcae to ka khetzawn han; nangcae khae kaom lamhmainawk mah kai hae oep o nasoe.
12 For the LORD says: “Behold, they to whom it did not pertain to drink of the cup will certainly drink; and are you he who will altogether go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, but you will surely drink.
13 For I have sworn by myself,” says the LORD, “that Bozrah will become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse. All its cities will be perpetual wastes.”
Bozrah prae loe amrohaih, kasaethuihaih, pong suthaih hoi tangoenghaih ah om tih; vangpuinawk doeh dungzan khoek to amro poe hanah, lokkamhaih to ka sak boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
14 I have heard news from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, “Gather yourselves together! Come against her! Rise up to the battle!”
Angraeng hanghaih lok to ka thaih boeh; Nawnto angpop oh, Edom tuk hanah angzo oh loe misatuk hanah angthawk oh! tiah a thuih.
15 “For, behold, I have made you small among the nations, and despised among men.
Khenah, nang loe Sithaw panoek ai kaminawk salakah kathoeng kae acaeng kami hoi kami mah patoek ih kami ah kang ohsak han.
16 As for your terror, the pride of your heart has deceived you, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill, though you should make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there,” says the LORD.
Thlung salakah kaom kaminawk hoi maesang ah kaom kaminawk, zit kaom khosakhaih hoi palung thung ih nam oek o haih mah, ang ling o boeh; tahmu baktiah sang parai ah tabu na boh o langlacadoeh, to ahmuen hoiah kang pakhrak o tathuk han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
17 “Edom will become an astonishment. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, and will hiss at all its plagues.
Edom loe amrohaih ah om tih; anih taengah caeh kaminawk boih dawnrai o tih; a tongh ih raihaihnawk boih pongah minawk mah kasae thui o tih.
18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and its neighbor cities,” says the LORD, “no man will dwell there, neither will any son of man live therein.
Anih loe Sodom hoi Gomorrah, a taeng ih kamro vangpuinawk baktiah oh pongah, to ah kami om mak ai, mi kawbaktih doeh a thungah om mak ai, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
19 “Behold, he will come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation; for I will suddenly make them run away from it, and whoever is chosen, I will appoint him over it. For who is like me? Who will appoint me a time? Who is the shepherd who will stand before me?”
Khenah, kaipui mah rawkcak pakronghaih ahmuen ah phak hanah, Jordan vapui ih taw thung hoiah angzoh baktih toengah, misa angzoh naah, kaimah Edom to a ohhaih ahmuen hoiah ka cawnsak ving han; Edom nuiah suek han qoih ih kami loe mi aa? Kai baktih mi maw kaom? Mi mah maw kai han atue khaek pae thai tih? Kawbaktih tuutoep kami maw ka hmaa ah angdoe thaih? tiah a thuih.
20 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he has taken against Edom, and his purposes that he has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely they will drag them away, the little ones of the flock. Surely he will make their habitation desolate over them.
To pongah Angraeng mah Edom tuk han atimhaih hoi Teman ah kaom kaminawk tuk han poekhaih to tahngai oh; anih mah thacak ai tuucaa to la pae ving ueloe, nihcae ohhaih ahmuen to amrosak tih.

Nihcae amtimhaih atuen pongah long hae tasoeh tih; nihcae qahhaih lok loe tuipui kathim khoek to amthang tih.
22 Behold, he will come up and fly as the eagle, and spread out his wings against Bozrah. The heart of the mighty men of Edom at that day will be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
Khenah, anih loe angzo tanghang tih, tahmu baktiah azawk ueloe, Bozrah vangpui nuiah pakhraeh payueng tih; to naah Edom kaminawk ih palungthin loe nawkta tapen nathuem ih nongpata poekhaih palungthin baktiah om tih.
23 Of Damascus: “Hamath and Arpad are confounded, for they have heard evil news. They have melted away. There is sorrow on the sea. It cannot be quiet.
Damaska kawng pongah, Harmath hoi Arpad loe tamthang kasae to thaih hoi moe, azathaih tongh hoi boeh; tuipui khoek to palungsethaih to oh pongah, monghaih om thai ai.
24 Damascus has grown feeble, she turns herself to flee, and trembling has seized her. Anguish and sorrows have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail.

25 How is the city of praise not forsaken, the city of my joy?
Canghnii ah kang hoehaih vangpui hoi pakoehhaih vangpui doeh anghmat mak ai!
26 Therefore her young men will fall in her streets, and all the men of war will be brought to silence in that day,” says the LORD of Armies.
To pongah anih ih thendoengnawk loe angmacae ih loklam ah amtimh o tih, misatuh kaminawk doeh to niah dueh o boih tih, tiah Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih.
27 “I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it will devour the palaces of Ben Hadad.”
Damaska vangpui sipae to hmai hoiah ka thlaek han, to naah Ben-Hadad ohhaih ahmuen to hmai mah kang boih tih, tiah a thuih.
28 Of Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck, The LORD says: “Arise, go up to Kedar, and destroy the children of the east.

30 Flee! Wander far off! Dwell in the depths, you inhabitants of Hazor,” says the LORD; “for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you, and has conceived a purpose against you.
Aw Hazor ah kaom kaminawk, Ahmuen kangthla ah cawn oh! Kathuk ahmuen ah om oh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; Babylon siangpahrang Nebuchadnezzar mah nang hum han pacaenghaih lok to thuih boeh.
31 Arise! Go up to a nation that is at ease, that dwells without care,” says the LORD; “that has neither gates nor bars, that dwells alone.
Angthawk oh, mawnhaih om ai acaeng, khongkha hoi thok takraenghaih om ai, angmabueng khosah kami ohhaih ahmuen ah caeh oh! tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
32 Their camels will be a booty, and the multitude of their livestock a plunder. I will scatter to all winds those who have the corners of their beards cut off; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them,” says the LORD.
Anih ih tahnongsawk hrangnawk to lomh pae o ueloe, a tawnh o ih tahnongsawk hrangnawk hoi maitawnawk doeh lomh pae o tih; angthla koek taki taket ah kaom kaminawk to takhi ah ka haeh phaeng han; ahmuen kruek hoiah nihcae amrohaih to ka phaksak han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
33 Hazor will be a dwelling place of jackals, a desolation forever. No man will dwell there, neither will any son of man live therein.”
Hazor prae loe tasuinawk paqaihhaih ahmuen ah angcoeng ueloe, dungzan ah pong rup tih boeh; mi doeh to ahmuen ah om mak ai, a thungah kami mi doeh om mak ai, tiah Angraeng Sithaw mah thuih.
34 The LORD’s word that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

36 I will bring on Elam the four winds from the four quarters of the sky, and will scatter them toward all those winds. There will be no nation where the outcasts of Elam will not come.

Elam kaminawk to angmacae misanawk hmaa hoi nihcae hinghaih pakrong kaminawk hmaa ah tasoehhaih ka tongsak moe, kanung parai palung ka phuihaih hoi amrohaih to nihcae nuiah ka phaksak han; nihcae ka hum boih ai karoek to nihcae hnukah sumsen hoiah ka patom han, tiah Angraeng mah thuih:
