Jeremiah 47

1 The LORD’s word that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza.

Ο λόγος του Κυρίου, ο γενόμενος προς Ιερεμίαν τον προφήτην, κατά των Φιλισταίων, πριν πατάξη την Γάζαν ο Φαραώ.

2 The LORD says: “Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and will become an overflowing stream, and will overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and those who dwell therein. The men will cry, and all the inhabitants of the land will wail.

Ούτω λέγει Κύριος· Ιδού, ύδατα αναβαίνουσιν από βορρά, και θέλουσιν είσθαι χείμαρρος πλημμυρών, και θέλουσι πλημμυρήσει την γην και το πλήρωμα αυτής, την πόλιν και τους κατοικούντας εν αυτή· τότε οι άνθρωποι θέλουσιν αναβοήσει και πάντες οι κάτοικοι της γης θέλουσιν ολολύξει.

3 At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers do not look back for their children because their hands are so feeble,

Υπό του κρότου των πατημάτων των όπλων των ρωμαλέων αυτού ίππων, υπό του σεισμού των αμαξών αυτού, υπό του ήχου των τροχών αυτού, οι πατέρες δεν θέλουσι στραφή προς τα τέκνα διά την ατονίαν των χειρών,

4 because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains; for the LORD will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.

εξ αιτίας της ημέρας της επερχομένης διά να απολέση πάντας τους Φιλισταίους, να εκκόψη από της Τύρου και της Σιδώνος πάντα εναπολειφθέντα βοηθόν· διότι ο Κύριος θέλει αφανίσει τους Φιλισταίους, το υπόλοιπον της νήσου Καφθόρ.

5 Baldness has come on Gaza; Ashkelon is brought to nothing. You remnant of their valley, how long will you cut yourself?

Φαλάκρωμα ήλθεν επί την Γάζαν· η Ασκάλων απωλέσθη μετά του υπολοίπου της κοιλάδος αυτών. Έως πότε θέλεις κάμνει εντομάς εις σεαυτήν;

6 “‘You sword of the LORD, how long will it be before you are quiet? Put yourself back into your scabbard; rest, and be still.’

Ω μάχαιρα του Κυρίου, έως πότε δεν θέλεις ησυχάσει; είσελθε εις την θήκην σου, αναπαύθητι και ησύχασον.

7 “How can you be quiet, since the LORD has given you a command? Against Ashkelon, and against the seashore, there he has appointed it.”

Πως να ησυχάσης; διότι ο Κύριος έδωκεν εις αυτήν παραγγελίαν κατά της Ασκάλωνος και κατά της παραθαλασσίου· εκεί διώρισεν αυτήν.
