Jeremiah 45

1 The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

A palavra que fallou Jeremias, o propheta, a Baruch, filho de Nerias, escrevendo elle aquellas palavras n'um livro da bocca de Jeremias, no anno quarto de Joaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judah, dizendo:

2 “The LORD, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch:

Assim diz o Senhor, Deus d'Israel, ácerca de ti, ó Baruch:

3 ‘You said, “Woe is me now! For the LORD has added sorrow to my pain! I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest.”’

Disseste: Ai de mim agora! porque me accrescentou o Senhor tristeza sobre minha dôr: já estou cançado do meu gemido, e não acho descanço.

4 “You shall tell him, the LORD says: ‘Behold, that which I have built, I will break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land.

Pelo que assim lhe dirás: Assim diz o Senhor: Eis que o que edifiquei eu derribo, e o que plantei eu arranco, e isso em toda esta terra.

5 Do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for, behold, I will bring evil on all flesh,’ says the LORD, ‘but I will let you escape with your life wherever you go.’”

E tu te buscarias grandezas? não as busques; porque eis que trago mal sobre toda a carne, diz o Senhor; porém te darei a ti a tua alma por despojo, em todos os logares para onde fores.
