James 5
1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming on you.
Agora, ricos, me ouçam! Chorem e esperem todos os problemas que surgirão para vocês!
2 Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten.
As suas riquezas se acabarão e suas roupas serão comidas pelas traças.
3 Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days.
A ferrugem acabará com o seu ouro e a sua prata e também se voltará contra vocês, devorando a sua carne como se fosse fogo. Vocês acumularam riqueza nesses últimos tempos.
4 Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies.
Escutem os gritos dos trabalhadores de suas fazendas, cujos salários vocês roubaram. Eles gritam acusações contra vocês. E essas acusações chegaram aos ouvidos do Senhor, o Todo-Poderoso.
5 You have lived in luxury on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.
Vocês têm tido uma vida cheia de luxo aqui na terra, cheia de prazeres egoístas, ficando gordos como bois para o dia do abate!
6 You have condemned and you have murdered the righteous one. He does not resist you.
Vocês condenaram e mataram o inocente, que nem mesmo reagiu contra vocês.
7 Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain.
Amigos, sejam pacientes, enquanto esperam pela vinda do Senhor. Pensem no fazendeiro que espera pacientemente pela colheita preciosa da terra, conforme ela cresce com as chuvas do outono e da primavera.
8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
Sejam também pacientes. Fiquem firmes, pois o Senhor não irá demorar a voltar.
9 Do not grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you will not be judged. Behold, the judge stands at the door.
Irmãos, não reclamem uns dos outros e, assim, não serão julgados. O juiz está perto, pronto para vir.
10 Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of perseverance, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
Que os profetas sirvam de exemplo para vocês. Vejam como eles falavam em nome do Senhor, como sofreram e esperaram de forma paciente.
11 Behold, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
Percebam que nós dizemos que aqueles que forem perseverantes serão abençoados por Deus. Vocês ouviram a respeito da paciência de Jó e do fim extraordinário que o Senhor lhe proporcionou, pois o Senhor é cheio de bondade e de misericórdia.
12 But above all things, my brothers, do not swear—not by heaven, or by the earth, or by any other oath; but let your “yes” be “yes”, and your “no”, “no”, so that you do not fall into hypocrisy.
Acima de tudo, meus irmãos, não jurem pelo céu, nem pela terra, nem por nada mais. Apenas digam sim, se for sim; ou não, se for não; pois, assim, não serão condenados por Deus.
13 Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises.
Algum de vocês está sofrendo? Então, ore a Deus. Algum de vocês está alegre? Então, cante para agradecer a Deus.
14 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
Alguém está doente? Então, chame os presbíteros da igreja e peça para que eles orem pelo enfermo e que coloquem azeite sobre a cabeça dele, em nome do Senhor.
15 and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Essa oração, feita com fé em Deus, irá salvar o enfermo, e o Senhor fará com que ele fique bem novamente. Se ele tiver cometido pecados, serão perdoados.
16 Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
Admitam os erros que cometeram uns para os outros e também orem uns pelos outros, para que vocês sejam curados. A oração sincera de quem vive uma vida justa é muito poderosa.
17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.
Elias era tão humano quanto nós. Ele orou com tanta fé para que não chovesse mais, que não choveu sobre a terra por três anos e meio.
18 He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
Ele orou novamente, pedindo a Deus que, dessa vez, enviasse chuva, para que a terra produzisse novas colheitas, e assim aconteceu.
19 Brothers, if any among you wanders from the truth and someone turns him back,
Meus irmãos, se algum de vocês se desviar da verdade e alguém o trouxer de volta,
20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
diga a essa pessoa que quem resgata um pecador do seu caminho de erros o salvará da morte e fará com que sejam perdoados muitos pecados.
