Genesis 29
1 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the children of the east.
ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಪ್ರಯಾಣವನ್ನು ಮುಂದುವರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಪೂರ್ವದಿಕ್ಕಿನ ಜನರ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದನು.
2 He looked, and saw a well in the field, and saw three flocks of sheep lying there by it. For out of that well they watered the flocks. The stone on the well’s mouth was large.
ಅವನು ಕಣ್ಣೆತ್ತಿ ನೋಡಲಾಗಿ, ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಬಾವಿ ಇತ್ತು. ಅದರ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ಕುರಿಮಂದೆಗಳು ಮಲಗಿದ್ದವು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಆ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಮಂದೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕುಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಲ್ಲು ಇತ್ತು.
3 There all the flocks were gathered. They rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone back on the well’s mouth in its place.
ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂದೆಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೂಡಿದಾಗ, ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಉರುಳಿಸಿ, ಕುರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಸಿ, ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಅದರ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
4 Jacob said to them, “My relatives, where are you from?” They said, “We are from Haran.”
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ನೀವು ಎಲ್ಲಿಯವರು?” ಎಂದಾಗ. ಅವರು, “ನಾವು ಹಾರಾನಿನವರು,” ಎಂದರು.
5 He said to them, “Do you know Laban, the son of Nahor?” They said, “We know him.”
ಅದಕ್ಕವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಾಹೋರನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗ ಲಾಬಾನನನ್ನು ನೀವು ಬಲ್ಲಿರೋ?” ಎಂದಾಗ. ಅವರು, “ನಾವು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಲ್ಲೆವು,” ಎಂದರು.
6 He said to them, “Is it well with him?” They said, “It is well. See, Rachel, his daughter, is coming with the sheep.”
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಅವನು ಕ್ಷೇಮವಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೋ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಆಗ ಅವರು, “ಕ್ಷೇಮವಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ, ಅಗೋ, ಅವನ ಮಗಳಾದ ರಾಹೇಲಳು ಕುರಿಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಳೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
7 He said, “Behold, it is still the middle of the day, not time to gather the livestock together. Water the sheep, and go and feed them.”
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಇನ್ನೂ ಬಹಳ ಹೊತ್ತು ಇದೆ. ಮಂದೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸುವ ಸಮಯವು ಇದಲ್ಲ. ಕುರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರು ಕುಡಿಸಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಮೇಯಿಸಿರಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
8 They said, “We cannot, until all the flocks are gathered together, and they roll the stone from the well’s mouth. Then we will water the sheep.”
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು, “ಮಂದೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಉರುಳಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಗ ನಾವು ಕುರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
9 While he was yet speaking with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep, for she kept them.
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ, ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೇಯಿಸುವ ರಾಹೇಲಳು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಕುರಿಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಂದಳು.
10 When Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban, his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban, his mother’s brother, Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother’s brother.
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಸಹೋದರ ಲಾಬಾನನ ಮಗಳಾದ ರಾಹೇಲಳನ್ನೂ, ಅವಳ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ, ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು, ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಹೊರಳಿಸಿ, ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಲಾಬಾನನ ಕುರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಸಿದನು.
11 Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.
ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೆ ಮುದ್ದಿಟ್ಟು, ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನೆತ್ತಿ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಅತ್ತನು.
12 Jacob told Rachel that he was her father’s relative, and that he was Rebekah’s son. She ran and told her father.
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೆ, ತಾನು ಆಕೆಯ ತಂದೆಗೆ ಸೋದರಳಿಯನೆಂದೂ ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕಳ ಮಗನೆಂದೂ ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು. ಆಗ ಆಕೆಯು ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದಳು.
13 When Laban heard the news of Jacob, his sister’s son, he ran to meet Jacob, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. Jacob told Laban all these things.
ಲಾಬಾನನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯ ಮಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಸುದ್ದಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಬಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು ಮುದ್ದಿಟ್ಟನು. ಅವನನ್ನು ಮನೆಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದನು. ಅವನು ಲಾಬಾನನಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
14 Laban said to him, “Surely you are my bone and my flesh.” Jacob stayed with him for a month.
ಆಗ ಲಾಬಾನನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ರಕ್ತಸಂಬಂಧಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೀ,” ಎಂದನು. ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಂದು ತಿಂಗಳು ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
15 Laban said to Jacob, “Because you are my relative, should you therefore serve me for nothing? Tell me, what will your wages be?”
ಲಾಬಾನನು ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಕನಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ನನಗೆ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆ? ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಬಳ ಎಷ್ಟೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳು?” ಎಂದನು.
16 Laban had two daughters. The name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.
ಲಾಬಾನನಿಗೆ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಪುತ್ರಿಯರಿದ್ದರು. ದೊಡ್ಡವಳ ಹೆಸರು ಲೇಯಳು, ಚಿಕ್ಕವಳ ಹೆಸರು ರಾಹೇಲಳು.
17 Leah’s eyes were weak, but Rachel was beautiful in form and attractive.
ಲೇಯಳ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಕಾಂತಿಹೀನವಾಗಿದ್ದವು. ಆದರೆ ರಾಹೇಲಳು ಸುಂದರಿಯೂ ರೂಪವತಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಳು.
18 Jacob loved Rachel. He said, “I will serve you seven years for Rachel, your younger daughter.”
ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ರಾಹೇಲಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ, “ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕಿರಿ ಮಗಳಾಗಿರುವ ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಏಳು ವರ್ಷ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
19 Laban said, “It is better that I give her to you, than that I should give her to another man. Stay with me.”
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಲಾಬಾನನು, “ಅವಳನ್ನು ಬೇರೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ, ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡುವುದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡವಿರು,” ಎಂದನು.
20 Jacob served seven years for Rachel. They seemed to him but a few days, for the love he had for her.
ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಏಳು ವರ್ಷ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವನು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಏಳು ವರ್ಷಗಳು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪದಿನಗಳಾಗಿ ತೋರಿದವು.
21 Jacob said to Laban, “Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in to her.”
ತರುವಾಯ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಲಾಬಾನನಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಸೇವಾ ದಿನಗಳು ಪೂರ್ತಿಯಾದವು. ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಾಳುವಂತೆ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡು,” ಎಂದನು.
22 Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
ಆಗ ಲಾಬಾನನು ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೂಡಿಸಿ ಔತಣ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು.
23 In the evening, he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to Jacob. He went in to her.
ರಾತ್ರಿಯಾದಾಗ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಲೇಯಳನ್ನು ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆತಂದನು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ಲೇಯಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು.
24 Laban gave Zilpah his servant to his daughter Leah for a servant.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಲಾಬಾನನು ತನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಯಾದ ಜಿಲ್ಪಳನ್ನು, ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಲೇಯಳಿಗೆ ದಾಸಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
25 In the morning, behold, it was Leah! He said to Laban, “What is this you have done to me? Did not I serve with you for Rachel? Why then have you deceived me?”
ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ನೋಡಲಾಗಿ ಆಕೆಯು ಲೇಯಳಾಗಿದ್ದಳು. ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಲಾಬಾನನಿಗೆ, “ಇದೇನು ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ? ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡಿದೆನಲ್ಲಾ? ಏಕೆ ನನಗೆ ಮೋಸಮಾಡಿದೆ?” ಎಂದನು.
26 Laban said, “It is not done so in our place, to give the younger before the firstborn.
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಲಾಬಾನನು, “ಹಿರಿಯಳಿಗಿಂತ ಮೊದಲು ಕಿರಿಯಳನ್ನು ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡುವುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯಲ್ಲ.
27 Fulfill the week of this one, and we will give you the other also for the service which you will serve with me for seven more years.”
ಹಿರಿಯಳೊಡನೆ ಈ ವಾರವನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸು. ತರುವಾಯ ನೀನು ಇನ್ನು ಬೇರೆ ಏಳು ವರ್ಷಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡರೆ, ನಾನು ಕಿರಿಯ ಮಗಳನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
28 Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week. He gave him Rachel his daughter as wife.
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅದರಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ವಾರವನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಿದನು. ಆಗ ಲಾಬಾನನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳಾದ ರಾಹೇಲಳನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
29 Laban gave Bilhah, his servant, to his daughter Rachel to be her servant.
ಲಾಬಾನನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳಾದ ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೆ, ತನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಯಾದ ಬಿಲ್ಹಳನ್ನು ದಾಸಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
30 He went in also to Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him seven more years.
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ರಾಹೇಲಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೂಡಿ, ಲೇಯಳಿಗಿಂತ ರಾಹೇಲಳನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿದನು. ಇನ್ನೂ ಏಳು ವರ್ಷ ಲಾಬಾನನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
31 The LORD saw that Leah was hated, and he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.
ಲೇಯಳು ತಾತ್ಸಾರಕ್ಕೆ ತುತ್ತಾಗುವಳೆಂದು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಕಂಡು, ಅವಳು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗುವಂತೆ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಮಾಡಿದರು. ಆದರೆ ರಾಹೇಲಳು ಬಂಜೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಳು.
32 Leah conceived, and bore a son, and she named him Reuben. For she said, “Because the LORD has looked at my affliction; for now my husband will love me.”
ಲೇಯಳು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು, “ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನನ್ನ ಬಾಧೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಗಂಡನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮಾಡುವನು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಮಗುವಿಗೆ ರೂಬೇನ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಳು.
33 She conceived again, and bore a son, and said, “Because the LORD has heard that I am hated, he has therefore given me this son also.” She named him Simeon.
ಲೇಯಳು ಮತ್ತೆ ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು, “ನಾನು ತಾತ್ಸಾರವಾಗಿದ್ದೆ ಎಂದು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಕೇಳಿ, ಇವನನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸಿಮೆಯೋನ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಳು.
34 She conceived again, and bore a son. She said, “Now this time my husband will be joined to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.
ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಲೇಯಳು ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು, “ಈಗಲಾದರೂ ನನ್ನ ಗಂಡನು ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಂದಾಗುವನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನಾನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮೂರು ಪುತ್ರರನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, ಆ ಮಗುವಿಗೆ ಲೇವಿ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಳು.
35 She conceived again, and bore a son. She said, “This time I will praise the LORD.” Therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped bearing.
ಆಕೆಯು ಮತ್ತೆ ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು, “ಈಗ ನಾನು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುವೆನು,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, ಅವನಿಗೆ ಯೆಹೂದ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಳು. ಆಮೇಲೆ ಆಕೆಗೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
