Genesis 26
1 There was a famine in the land, in addition to the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, to Gerar.
Y hubo hambre en la tierra además de la primera hambre, que fue en los días de Abraham: y fuése Isaac a Abimelec, rey de los Filisteos, en Gerar.
2 The LORD appeared to him, and said, “Do not go down into Egypt. Live in the land I will tell you about.
Y apareciósele Jehová, y díjole: No desciendas a Egipto: habita en la tierra que yo te diré.
3 Live in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For I will give to you, and to your offspring, all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.
Habita en esta tierra, y yo seré contigo; y te bendeciré; porque a ti, y a tu simiente, daré todas estas tierras; y confirmaré el juramento que juré a Abraham tu padre.
4 I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring. In your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed,
Y yo multiplicaré tu simiente como las estrellas del cielo; y daré a tu simiente todas estas tierras: y todas las gentes de la tierra serán benditas en tu simiente;
5 because Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my requirements, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”
Por cuanto oyó Abraham mi voz, y guardó mi observancia, mis mandamientos, mis estatutos, y mis leyes.
6 Isaac lived in Gerar.
Así habitó Isaac en Gerar.
7 The men of the place asked him about his wife. He said, “She is my sister,” for he was afraid to say, “My wife”, lest, he thought, “the men of the place might kill me for Rebekah, because she is beautiful to look at.”
Y los hombres de aquel lugar preguntaron de su mujer; y él respondió: Es mi hermana: Porque tuvo miedo de decir; Es mi mujer: Quizá, dijo él, los varones de aquel lugar me matarán por causa de Rebeca; porque era hermosa de vista.
8 When he had been there a long time, Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was caressing Rebekah, his wife.
Y fue, que como él estuvo allí muchos días, Abimelec, rey de los Filisteos, mirando por una ventana, vio a Isaac que jugaba con Rebeca su mujer:
9 Abimelech called Isaac, and said, “Behold, surely she is your wife. Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’?” Isaac said to him, “Because I said, ‘Lest I die because of her.’”
Y llamó Abimelec a Isaac, y dijo: He aquí, ciertamente ella es tu mujer: ¿cómo pues dijiste: Es mi hermana? E Isaac le respondió: Porque dije: Quizá moriré por causa de ella.
10 Abimelech said, “What is this you have done to us? One of the people might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us!”
Y Abimelec dijo: ¿Por qué nos has hecho esto? Por poco hubiera dormido alguno del pueblo con tu mujer, y hubieras traído sobre nosotros el pecado.
11 Abimelech commanded all the people, saying, “He who touches this man or his wife will surely be put to death.”
Entonces Abimelec mandó a todo el pueblo, diciendo: El que tocare a este hombre, o a su mujer, muriendo morirá.
12 Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year one hundred times what he planted. The LORD blessed him.
Y sembró Isaac en aquella tierra, y halló aquel año cien modios; y bendíjole Jehová.
13 The man grew great, and grew more and more until he became very great.
Y el varón se engrandeció, y fue yendo y engrandeciéndose, hasta hacerse muy grande.
14 He had possessions of flocks, possessions of herds, and a great household. The Philistines envied him.
Y tuvo hato de ovejas, y hato de vacas, y grande apero; y los Filisteos le tuvieron envidia.
15 Now all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped, and filled with earth.
Y todos los pozos que habían abierto los siervos de Abraham su padre en sus días, los Filisteos los habían cerrado, y henchido de tierra.
16 Abimelech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”
Y dijo Abimelec a Isaac: Apártate de nosotros; porque mucho más fuerte que nosotros te has hecho.
17 Isaac departed from there, encamped in the valley of Gerar, and lived there.
E Isaac se fue de allí; y asentó sus tiendas en el valle de Gerar, y habitó allí.
18 Isaac dug again the wells of water, which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham. He called their names after the names by which his father had called them.
Y volvió Isaac, y abrió los pozos de agua, que habían abierto en los días de Abraham su padre, y que los Filisteos habían cerrado muerto Abraham: y llamólos de los nombres que su padre los había llamado.
19 Isaac’s servants dug in the valley, and found there a well of flowing water.
Y los siervos de Isaac cavaron en el valle, y hallaron allí un pozo de aguas vivas.
20 The herdsmen of Gerar argued with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” So he called the name of the well Esek, because they contended with him.
Y los pastores de Gerar riñeron con los pastores de Isaac, diciendo: El agua es nuestra. Por eso llamó el nombre del pozo Esek, porque habían altercado con él.
21 They dug another well, and they argued over that, also. So he called its name Sitnah.
Y abrieron otro pozo; y riñeron también sobre él: y llamó su nombre, Sitna.
22 He left that place, and dug another well. They did not argue over that one. So he called it Rehoboth. He said, “For now the LORD has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land.”
Y pasóse de allí, y abrió otro pozo, y no riñeron sobre él: y llamó su nombre Rehobot, y dijo: Porque ahora nos ha hecho ensanchar Jehová, y fructificarémos en la tierra.
23 He went up from there to Beersheba.
Y de allí subió a Beer-seba.
24 The LORD appeared to him the same night, and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Do not be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.”
Y apareciósele Jehová aquella noche, y dijo: Yo soy el Dios de Abraham tu padre: no temas, que yo soy contigo; y yo te bendeciré, y multiplicaré tu simiente por causa de Abraham mi siervo.
25 He built an altar there, and called on the LORD’s name, and pitched his tent there. There Isaac’s servants dug a well.
Y edificó allí altar, e invocó el nombre de Jehová, y tendió allí su tienda; y abrieron allí los siervos de Isaac un pozo.
26 Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath his friend, and Phicol the captain of his army.
Y Abimelec vino a él desde Gerar, y Ocozat amigo suyo, y Ficol capitán de su ejército.
27 Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me, and have sent me away from you?”
Y díjoles Isaac: ¿Por qué venís a mí, pues que me habéis aborrecido, y me enviasteis que no estuviese con vosotros?
28 They said, “We saw plainly that the LORD was with you. We said, ‘Let there now be an oath between us, even between us and you, and let’s make a covenant with you,
Y ellos respondieron: Hemos visto que Jehová es contigo; y dijimos: Haya ahora juramento entre nosotros; entre nosotros y ti: y haremos alianza contigo;
29 that you will do us no harm, as we have not touched you, and as we have done to you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace.’ You are now the blessed of the LORD.”
Que no nos hagas mal, como nosotros no te hemos tocado, y como solamente te hemos hecho bien, y te enviamos en paz: tú ahora, bendito de Jehová.
30 He made them a feast, and they ate and drank.
Entonces él les hizo banquete, y comieron, y bebieron.
31 They rose up some time in the morning, and swore an oath to one another. Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.
Y madrugaron por la mañana, y juraron el uno al otro, e Isaac los envió, y partiéronse de él en paz.
32 The same day, Isaac’s servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had dug, and said to him, “We have found water.”
Y fue que en aquel día vinieron los siervos de Isaac, y diéronle nuevas de los negocios del pozo que habían abierto, y dijéronle: Agua hemos hallado.
33 He called it “Shibah”. Therefore the name of the city is “Beersheba” to this day.
Y llamóle Siba; por esta causa el nombre de aquella ciudad es Beer-seba hasta este día.
34 When Esau was forty years old, he took as wife Judith, the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath, the daughter of Elon the Hittite.
Y como Esaú fue de cuarenta años, tomó por mujer a Judit, hija de Beeri Jetteo, y a Basemat hija de Elón Jetteo.
35 They grieved Isaac’s and Rebekah’s spirits.
Y fueron amargura de espíritu a Isaac, y a Rebeca.
