Ephesians 2
1 You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins,
auch euch, die ihr tot waret in euren Vergehungen und Sünden,
2 in which you once walked according to the course of this age (aiōn g165), according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience.
in welchen ihr einst wandeltet nach dem Zeitlauf dieser Welt, nach dem Fürsten der Gewalt der Luft, des Geistes, der jetzt wirksam ist in den Söhnen des Ungehorsams; (aiōn g165)
3 We also all once lived among them in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
unter welchen auch wir einst alle unseren Verkehr hatten in den Lüsten unseres Fleisches, indem wir den Willen des Fleisches und der Gedanken taten und von Natur Kinder des Zorns waren, wie auch die übrigen.
4 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us,
Gott aber, der reich ist an Barmherzigkeit, wegen seiner vielen Liebe, womit er uns geliebt hat,
5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
als auch wir in den Vergehungen tot waren, hat uns mit dem Christus lebendig gemacht, durch Gnade seid ihr errettet-
6 and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
und hat uns mitauferweckt und mitsitzen lassen in den himmlischen Örtern in Christo Jesu,
7 that in the ages (aiōn g165) to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus;
auf daß er in den kommenden Zeitaltern den überschwenglichen Reichtum seiner Gnade in Güte gegen uns erwiese in Christo Jesu. (aiōn g165)
8 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
Denn durch die Gnade seid ihr errettet, mittelst des Glaubens; und das nicht aus euch, Gottes Gabe ist es;
9 not of works, that no one would boast.
nicht aus Werken, auf daß niemand sich rühme.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.
Denn wir sind sein Werk, geschaffen in Christo Jesu zu guten Werken, welche Gott zuvor bereitet hat, auf daß wir in ihnen wandeln sollen.
11 Therefore remember that once you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “uncircumcision” by that which is called “circumcision” (in the flesh, made by hands),
Deshalb seid eingedenk, daß ihr, einst die Nationen im Fleische, welche Vorhaut genannt werden von der sogenannten Beschneidung, die im Fleische mit Händen geschieht,
12 that you were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
daß ihr zu jener Zeit ohne Christum waret, entfremdet dem Bürgerrecht Israels, und Fremdlinge betreffs der Bündnisse der Verheißung, keine Hoffnung habend, und ohne Gott in der Welt.
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off are made near in the blood of Christ.
Jetzt aber, in Christo Jesu, seid ihr, die ihr einst fern waret, durch das Blut des Christus nahe geworden.
14 For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the middle wall of separation,
Denn er ist unser Friede, der aus beiden eines gemacht und abgebrochen hat die Zwischenwand der Umzäunung,
15 having abolished in his flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace,
nachdem er in seinem Fleische die Feindschaft, das Gesetz der Gebote in Satzungen, hinweggetan hatte, auf daß er die zwei, Frieden stiftend, in sich selbst zu einem neuen Menschen schüfe,
16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having killed the hostility through it.
und die beiden in einem Leibe mit Gott versöhnte durch das Kreuz, nachdem er durch dasselbe die Feindschaft getötet hatte.
17 He came and preached peace to you who were far off and to those who were near.
Und er kam und verkündigte Frieden, euch, den Fernen, und Frieden den Nahen.
18 For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
Denn durch ihn haben wir beide den Zugang durch einen Geist zu dem Vater.
19 So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God,
Also seid ihr denn nicht mehr Fremdlinge und ohne Bürgerrecht, sondern ihr seid Mitbürger der Heiligen und Hausgenossen Gottes,
20 being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone;
aufgebaut auf die Grundlage der Apostel und Propheten, indem Jesus Christus selbst Eckstein ist,
21 in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord;
in welchem der ganze Bau, wohl zusammengefügt, wächst zu einem heiligen Tempel im Herrn,
22 in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
in welchem auch ihr mitaufgebaut werdet zu einer Behausung Gottes im Geiste.
