Acts 13
1 Now in the assembly that was at Antioch there were some prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
Había en la Iglesia de Antioquía profetas y doctores: Bernabé, Simón por sobrenombre el Negro, Lucio de Cirene, Manahén, hermano de leche del tetrarca Herodes, y Saulo.
2 As they served the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Separate Barnabas and Saul for me, for the work to which I have called them.”
A ellos, mientras ejercían el ministerio ante el Señor y ayunaban, dijo el Espíritu Santo: “Separadme a Bernabé y Saulo para la obra a la cual los tengo elegidos”.
3 Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
Entonces, después de ayunar y orar, les impusieron las manos y los despidieron.
4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia. From there they sailed to Cyprus.
Enviados, pues, por el Espíritu Santo, bajaron a Seleucia, desde donde navegaron a Chipre.
5 When they were at Salamis, they proclaimed God’s word in the Jewish synagogues. They also had John as their attendant.
Llegados a Salamina predicaron la palabra de Dios en las sinagogas de los judíos, teniendo a Juan ( Marcos ) como ayudante.
6 When they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar Jesus,
Después de recorrer toda la isla hasta Pafo, encontraron un judío, mago y seudoprofeta, por nombre Barjesús,
7 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of understanding. This man summoned Barnabas and Saul, and sought to hear the word of God.
el cual estaba con el procónsul Sergio Pablo, hombre prudente, que llamó a Bernabé y Saulo, deseando oír la palabra de Dios.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith.
Pero Elimas, el mago —así se interpreta su nombre— se les oponía, procurando apartar de la fe al procónsul.
9 But Saul, who is also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fastened his eyes on him
Entonces Saulo, que también se llamaba Pablo, lleno de Espíritu Santo, fijando en él sus ojos,
10 and said, “You son of the devil, full of all deceit and all cunning, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
dijo: “¡Oh hombre lleno de todo fraude y de toda malicia, hijo del diablo y enemigo de toda justicia! ¿No cesarás de pervertir los caminos rectos del Señor?
11 Now, behold, the hand of the Lord is on you, and you will be blind, not seeing the sun for a season!” Immediately a mist and darkness fell on him. He went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.
Ahora, pues, he aquí que la mano del Señor está sobre ti, y quedarás ciego, sin ver el sol hasta cierto tiempo”. Y al instante cayeron sobre él tinieblas y oscuridad, y dando vueltas buscaba a quien le tomase de la mano.
12 Then the proconsul, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
Al ver lo sucedido el procónsul abrazó la fe, maravillado de la doctrina del Señor.
13 Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia. John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem.
Pablo y sus compañeros dejaron entonces Pafo y fueron a Perge de Panfilia. Entretanto Juan se apartó de ellos y se volvió a Jerusalén.
14 But they, passing on from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia. They went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down.
Ellos, empero, yendo más allá de Perge, llegaron a Antioquía de Pisidia, donde el día sábado entraron en la sinagoga y tomaron asiento.
15 After the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, speak.”
Después de la lectura de la Ley y de los Profetas, los jefes de la sinagoga enviaron a decirles: “Varones, hermanos, si tenéis una palabra de consuelo para el pueblo, hablad”.
16 Paul stood up, and gesturing with his hand said, “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen.
Levantose entonces Pablo y haciendo señal ( de silencio ) con la mano, dijo: “Varones israelitas y los que teméis a Dios, escuchad.
17 The God of this people chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they stayed as aliens in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm, he led them out of it.
El Dios de este pueblo de Israel escogió a nuestros padres y ensalzó al pueblo durante su estancia en tierra de Egipto; y con brazo excelso los sacó de allí.
18 For a period of about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness.
Los sufrió después por espacio de unos cuarenta años en el desierto,
19 When he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land for an inheritance for about four hundred fifty years.
destruyó siete naciones en la tierra de Canaán y distribuyó en herencia sus tierras,
20 After these things, he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet.
como unos cuatrocientos cincuenta años después. Luego les dio jueces hasta el profeta Samuel.
21 Afterward they asked for a king, and God gave to them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.
Desde entonces pidieron rey, y Dios les dio a Saúl, hijo de Cis, varón de la tribu de Benjamín, por espacio de cuarenta años.
22 When he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, to whom he also testified, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’
Depuesto este, les suscitó por rey a David, de quien también dio testimonio diciendo: “He hallado a David, hijo de Jesé, varón conforme a mi corazón quien cumplirá toda mi voluntad”.
23 From this man’s offspring, God has brought salvation to Israel according to his promise,
Del linaje de este, según la promesa, suscitó Dios para Israel un Salvador, Jesús.
24 before his coming, when John had first preached the baptism of repentance to Israel.
Pero antes de su entrada, Juan predicó un bautismo de arrepentimiento a todo el pueblo de Israel.
25 As John was fulfilling his course, he said, ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. But behold, one comes after me, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’
Y al cumplir Juan su carrera dijo: “Yo no soy el que vosotros pensáis, mas después de mí vendrá uno, a quien no soy digno de desatar el calzado de sus pies”.
26 “Brothers, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, the word of this salvation is sent out to you.
Varones, hermanos, hijos del linaje de Abrahán, y los que entre vosotros son temerosos de Dios, a vosotros ha sido enviada la palabra de esta salvación.
27 For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know him, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.
Pues los habitantes de Jerusalén y sus jefes, desconociendo a Él y las palabras de los profetas que se leen todos los sábados, les dieron cumplimiento, condenándolo;
28 Though they found no cause for death, they still asked Pilate to have him killed.
y aunque no encontraron causa de muerte, pidieron a Pilato que se le quitase la vida.
29 When they had fulfilled all things that were written about him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb.
Y después de haber cumplido todo lo que de Él estaba escrito, descolgáronle del madero y le pusieron en un sepulcro.
30 But God raised him from the dead,
Mas Dios le resucitó de entre los muertos,
31 and he was seen for many days by those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people.
y se apareció durante muchos días a aquellos que con Él habían subido de Galilea a Jerusalén. Los cuales ahora son sus testigos ante el pueblo.
32 We bring you good news of the promise made to the fathers,
Nosotros os anunciamos la promesa dada a los padres,
33 that God has fulfilled this to us, their children, in that he raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second psalm, ‘You are my Son. Today I have become your father.’
esta es la que ha cumplido Dios con nosotros, los hijos de ellos, resucitando a Jesús según está escrito también en el Salmo segundo: “Tú eres mi Hijo, hoy te he engendrado”.
34 “Concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he has spoken thus: ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.’
Y que lo resucitó de entre los muertos para nunca más volver a la corrupción, esto lo anunció así: “Os cumpliré las promesas santas y fieles dadas a David”.
35 Therefore he says also in another psalm, ‘You will not allow your Holy One to see decay.’
Y en otro lugar dice: “No permitirás que tu Santo vea la corrupción”.
36 For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, was laid with his fathers, and saw decay.
Porque David después de haber servido en su tiempo al designio de Dios, murió y fue agregado a sus padres, y vio la corrupción.
37 But he whom God raised up saw no decay.
Aquel, empero, a quien Dios resucitó, no vio corrupción alguna.
38 Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you remission of sins;
Sabed, pues, varones, hermanos, que por medio de Este se os anuncia remisión de los pecados; y de todo cuanto no habéis podido ser justificados en la Ley de Moisés,
39 and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
en Él es justificado todo aquel que tiene fe.
40 Beware therefore, lest that come on you which is spoken in the prophets:
Mirad, pues, no recaiga sobre vosotros lo que se ha dicho en los Profetas:
41 ‘Behold, you scoffers! Wonder and perish, for I work a work in your days, a work which you will in no way believe, if one declares it to you.’”
“Mirad, burladores, maravillaos y escondeos, porque Yo hago una obra en vuestros días, obra que no creeréis, aun cuando alguno os lo explicare”.
42 So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath.
Cuando ellos salieron, los suplicaron que el sábado siguiente les hablasen de estas cosas.
43 Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.
Y clausurada la asamblea, muchos de los judíos y de los prosélitos temerosos de Dios siguieron a Pablo y Bernabé, los cuales conversando con ellos los exhortaban a perseverar en la gracia de Dios.
44 The next Sabbath, almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of God.
El sábado siguiente casi toda la ciudad se reunió para oír la palabra de Dios.
45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, and blasphemed.
Pero viendo los judíos las multitudes, se llenaron de celos y blasfemando contradecían a lo que Pablo predicaba.
46 Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, and said, "It was necessary that God's word should be spoken to you first. Since indeed you thrust it from yourselves, and judge yourselves unworthy of consummate (aiōnios g166) life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.
Entonces Pablo y Bernabé dijeron con toda franqueza: “Era necesario que la palabra de Dios fuese anunciada primeramente a vosotros; después que vosotros la rechazáis y os juzgáis indignos de la vida eterna, (aiōnios g166)
47 For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, ‘I have set you as a light for the Gentiles, that you should bring salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth.’”
he aquí que nos dirigimos a los gentiles. Pues así nos ha mandado el Señor: “Yo te puse por lumbrera de las naciones a fin de que seas para salvación hasta los términos de la tierra”.
48 As the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of God. As many as were appointed to consummate (aiōnios g166) life believed.
Al oír esto se alegraban los gentiles y glorificaban la palabra del Señor. Y creyeron todos cuantos estaban ordenados para vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
49 The Lord’s word was spread abroad throughout all the region.
Y la palabra del Señor se esparcía por toda aquella región.
50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and threw them out of their borders.
Los judíos, empero, instigaron a las mujeres devotas de distinción, y a los principales de la ciudad, suscitando una persecución contra Pablo y Bernabé, y los echaron de su territorio;
51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came to Iconium.
los cuales sacudieron contra ellos el polvo de sus pies y se fueron a Iconio.
52 The disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
Mas los discípulos quedaron llenos de gozo y del Espíritu Santo.
