2 Samuel 16
1 When David was a little past the top, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him with a couple of donkeys saddled, and on them two hundred loaves of bread, and one hundred clusters of raisins, and one hundred summer fruits, and a container of wine.
૧દાઉદ પર્વતના શિખર પર થોડા અંતર સુધી ગયો, ત્યાં મફીબોશેથનો ચાકર સીબા તેને બે ગધેડાં સાથે મળ્યો; જેના પર બસો રોટલી, સૂકી દ્રાક્ષોની એકસો અંજીરોનું ઝૂમખું તથા દ્રાક્ષારસની એક કુંડી લાદેલી હતી.
2 The king said to Ziba, “What do you mean by these?” Ziba said, “The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that those who are faint in the wilderness may drink.”
૨રાજાએ સીબાને પૂછ્યું કે, “આ બધી વસ્તુઓ તું શા માટે લાવ્યો છે?” સીબાએ કહ્યું કે, રાજાના કુટુંબનાં લોકોને સવારી કરવા સારુ ગધેડાં, તારા માણસોને ખાવા રોટલી, દ્રાક્ષ અને અંજીર તથા અરણ્યમાં જેઓ થાકી જાય તેઓને માટે દ્રાક્ષારસ લાવ્યો છું.”
3 The king said, “Where is your master’s son?” Ziba said to the king, “Behold, he is staying in Jerusalem; for he said, ‘Today the house of Israel will restore me the kingdom of my father.’”
૩રાજાએ કહ્યું કે, “તારા માલિકનો દીકરો ક્યાં છે?” સીબાએ રાજાને જવાબ આપ્યો કે, “જો, તે યરુશાલેમમાં રહે છે, કેમ કે તે કહે છે કે, આ ઇઝરાયલનું ઘર છે તે મારા પિતાનું રાજ્ય છે તે મારા માટે સ્થાપિત કરવામાં આવશે.
4 Then the king said to Ziba, “Behold, all that belongs to Mephibosheth is yours.” Ziba said, “I bow down. Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, O king.”
૪પછી રાજાએ સીબાને કહ્યું કે, “જો, જે સઘળું મફીબોશેથનું હતું તે હવે તારું છે.” સીબાએ જવાબ આપ્યો કે, “હે મારા માલિક રાજા હું વિનમ્રતાથી તને નમન કરું છું. કે “તમે મારા પર કૃપાદ્રષ્ટિ દર્શાવો.”
5 When King David came to Bahurim, behold, a man of the family of Saul’s house came out, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera. He came out and cursed as he came.
૫જયારે દાઉદ રાજા બાહુરીમ પહોંચ્યો, ગેરાનો દીકરો શિમઈ શાઉલના કુટુંબનો હતો તે ત્યાંથી બહાર આવ્યો. તે શાપ આપવા લાગ્યો.
6 He cast stones at David and at all the servants of King David, and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
૬તેણે દાઉદ તથા રાજાના સર્વ ચાકરો પર, રાજાને જમણે તથા ડાબે સૈન્ય તથા અંગરક્ષકો હોવા છતાં તેઓ પર પથ્થરો ફેંક્યા.
7 Shimei said when he cursed, “Be gone, be gone, you man of blood, and wicked fellow!
૭શિમઈએ શાપ આપતા કહ્યું, “હે ખૂની તથા બલિયાલના માણસ! દૂર જા, અહીંયાથી જતો રહે,
8 The LORD has returned on you all the blood of Saul’s house, in whose place you have reigned! The LORD has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son! Behold, you are caught by your own mischief, because you are a man of blood!”
૮શાઉલ, કે જેની જગ્યાએ તેં રાજ કર્યું છે, તેના કુટુંબનાં સઘળાંના લોહીનો બદલો ઈશ્વરે તારી પાસેથી લીધો છે. ઈશ્વરે તારા દીકરા આબ્શાલોમના હાથમાં રાજ્ય સોંપ્યું છે. તારી દુષ્ટતામાં તું પોતે સપડાયો છે કેમ કે તું ખૂની માણસ છે.”
9 Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, “Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Please let me go over and take off his head.”
૯પછી સરુયાના દીકરા અબિશાયે રાજાને કહ્યું કે, “આ મરેલો કૂતરો મારા માલિક રાજાને શા માટે શાપ આપે છે? કૃપા કરી મને જવા દે કે હું તેનું માથું કાપી નાખું.”
10 The king said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? Because he curses, and because the LORD has said to him, ‘Curse David,’ who then shall say, ‘Why have you done so?’”
૧૦પણ રાજાએ કહ્યું કે, હે સરુયાના દીકરાઓ, મારે તમારી સાથે શો સંબંધ છે? કદાચ તે મને શાપ આપે કેમ કે ઈશ્વરે તેને કહ્યું છે કે ‘દાઉદને શાપ આપ.’ તેથી કોણ કહી શકે કે, ‘તું શા માટે રાજાને શાપ આપે છે?”
11 David said to Abishai and to all his servants, “Behold, my son, who came out of my bowels, seeks my life. How much more this Benjamite, now? Leave him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD has invited him.
૧૧માટે દાઉદે અબિશાયને તથા પોતાના સર્વ ચાકરોને કહ્યું કે, “જુઓ, મારો દીકરો, જે મારાથી જનમ્યો હતો તે મારો જીવ લેવાને શોધે છે. તો હવે આ બિન્યામીની મારો વિનાશ કરવાની ઇચ્છા કરે એમાં શી નવાઈ? તેને એકલો રહેવા દો અને શાપ આપવા દે, કેમ કે ઈશ્વરે તેને તેમ કરવાની આજ્ઞા આપી છે.
12 It may be that the LORD will look on the wrong done to me, and that the LORD will repay me good for the cursing of me today.”
૧૨કદાચ ઈશ્વર મારા પર થયેલા દુઃખો પર નજર કરે, જે શાપ તે આજે આપે છે તેનો સારો બદલો ઈશ્વર મને આપે.”
13 So David and his men went by the way; and Shimei went along on the hillside opposite him and cursed as he went, threw stones at him, and threw dust.
૧૩તેથી દાઉદ તથા તેના માણસો જયારે માર્ગે ચાલતા હતા, ત્યારે શિમઈ તેની સામેના પર્વતની બાજુએ હતો, તે તેઓને શાપ આપતો અને તેના ઉપર પથ્થરો અને ધૂળ નાખતો ગયો.
14 The king and all the people who were with him arrived weary; and he refreshed himself there.
૧૪પછી રાજા તથા તેની સાથેના સર્વ લોકો થાકી ગયા, અને રાત્રે તેઓએ રોકાઈને આરામ કર્યો.
15 Absalom and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
૧૫આબ્શાલોમ તથા ઇઝરાયલના સર્વ લોકો જે તેની સાથે હતા તે યરુશાલેમમાં આવ્યા અને અહિથોફેલ તેઓની સાથે હતો.
16 When Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, had come to Absalom, Hushai said to Absalom, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”
૧૬જયારે દાઉદનો મિત્ર હુશાય આર્કી આબ્શાલોમ પાસે આવ્યો, ત્યારે હુશાયે અબ્શાલોમને કહ્યું, “રાજા, ઘણું જીવો! રાજા ઘણું જીવો!”
17 Absalom said to Hushai, “Is this your kindness to your friend? Why did not you go with your friend?”
૧૭આબ્શાલોમે હુશાયને કહ્યું, “શું તારા મિત્ર પ્રત્યેની તારી વફાદારી આવી જ છે? તું તેની સાથે શા માટે ન ગયો?”
18 Hushai said to Absalom, “No; but whomever the LORD and this people and all the men of Israel have chosen, I will be his, and I will stay with him.
૧૮હુશાયે આબ્શાલોમને જવાબ આપ્યો, “નહિ! તેને બદલે જેને ઈશ્વરે, આ લોકોએ તથા ઇઝરાયલના સર્વ માણસોએ પસંદ કર્યા, તેનો જ હું થઈશ અને તેની સાથે હું રહીશ.
19 Again, whom should I serve? Should not I serve in the presence of his son? As I have served in your father’s presence, so I will be in your presence.”
૧૯વળી, હું કયા માણસની સેવા કરું? શું મારે તેના દીકરાની હજૂરમાં સેવા કરવી ન જોઈએ? જેમ મેં તારા પિતાની હજૂરમાં સેવા કરી હતી, તેમ હું તારી હજૂરમાં સેવા કરીશ.”
20 Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give your counsel what we shall do.”
૨૦પછી આબ્શાલોમે અહિથોફેલને કહ્યું, “હવે આપણે શું કરવું તે વિષે તું મને તારી સલાહ આપ.”
21 Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Go in to your father’s concubines that he has left to keep the house. Then all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong.”
૨૧અહિથોફેલે આબ્શાલોમને જવાબ આપ્યો, “તારા પિતાની ઉપપત્નીઓને તે મહેલની સંભાળ લેવા માટે મૂકી ગયા હતા, ત્યાં તું જા અને તેઓની આબરૂ લે અને સર્વ ઇઝરાયલીઓને ખબર પડશે કે, તારા પિતા તને ધિક્કારે છે. પછી જેઓ તારી સાથે છે તે સર્વના હાથ મજબૂત થશે.”
22 So they spread a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.
૨૨તેથી તેઓએ મહેલની અગાસી ઉપર તંબુ બાંધ્યાં અને આબ્શાલોમ સર્વ ઇઝરાયલીઓના દેખતા તે પોતાના પિતાની ઉપપત્નીઓ સાથે ઊંઘી ગયો.
23 The counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the inner sanctuary of God. All the counsel of Ahithophel was like this both with David and with Absalom.
૨૩હવે તે દિવસોમાં અહિથોફેલ જે સલાહ આપતો, તે કોઈએ ઈશ્વરવાણી સાંભળી હોય તેવી જ ગણાતી હતી. દાઉદ અને આબ્શાલોમ બન્ને અહિથોફેલની સલાહનો આદર કરતા હતા.
