2 Kings 14

1 In the second year of Joash, son of Joahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah began to reign.

യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകനായ യോവാശിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടിൽ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മകൻ അമസ്യാവു രാജാവായി.

2 He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.

അവൻ വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ ഇരുപത്തൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം വാണു. യെരൂശലേംകാരത്തിയായ അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു യെഹോവദ്ദാൻ എന്നു പേർ.

3 He did that which was right in the LORD’s eyes, yet not like David his father. He did according to all that Joash his father had done.

അവൻ യഹോവെക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു. തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദ് എന്നപോലെ അല്ലതാനും; തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യോവാശ് ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും അവൻ ചെയ്തു.

4 However the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.

എങ്കിലും പൂജാഗിരികൾക്കു നീക്കംവന്നില്ല; ജനം പൂജാഗിരികളിൽ യാഗംകഴിച്ചും ധൂപം കാട്ടിയും പോന്നു.

5 As soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, he killed his servants who had slain the king his father,

രാജത്വം അവന്നു സ്ഥിരമായപ്പോൾ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ രാജാവിനെ കൊന്ന ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ അവൻ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

6 but the children of the murderers he did not put to death, according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”

എന്നാൽ പുത്രന്മാൎക്കു പകരം പിതാക്കന്മാരും പിതാക്കന്മാൎക്കു പകരം പുത്രന്മാരും മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കരുതു; താന്താന്റെ പാപത്തിന്നു താന്താൻ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചതായി മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു അനുസരിച്ചു അവൻ ആ കുലപാതകന്മാരുടെ മക്കളെ കൊല്ലാതിരുന്നു.

7 He killed ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt, and took Sela by war, and called its name Joktheel, to this day.

അവൻ ഉപ്പുതാഴ്വരയിൽവെച്ചു എദോമ്യരിൽ പതിനായിരംപേരെ കൊന്നു, സേലയെ യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു പിടിച്ചു അതിന്നു യൊക്തെയേൽ എന്നു പേർ വിളിച്ചു; അതു ഇന്നുവരെയും പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.

8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come, let’s look one another in the face.”

ആ കാലത്തു അമസ്യാവു യേഹൂവിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകൻ യെഹോവാശ് എന്ന യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു: വരിക, നാം തമ്മിൽ ഒന്നു നോക്കുക എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

9 Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, “The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son as wife.’ Then a wild animal that was in Lebanon passed by, and trampled down the thistle.

അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യെഹോവാശ് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവിന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞയച്ചതു: ലെബാനോനിലെ മുൾപ്പടൎപ്പു ലെബാനോനിലെ ദേവദാരുവോടു: നിന്റെ മകളെ എന്റെ മകന്നു ഭാൎയ്യയായി തരിക എന്നു ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ ലെബാനോനിലെ ഒരു കാട്ടുമൃഗം കടന്നുപോകയിൽ മുൾപ്പടൎപ്പിനെ ചവിട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

10 You have indeed struck Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Enjoy the glory of it, and stay at home; for why should you meddle to your harm, that you fall, even you, and Judah with you?”

എദോമ്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു നീ നിഗളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പ്രശംസിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ഇരുന്നുകൊൾക; നീയും നിന്നോടുകൂടെ യെഹൂദയും വീഴുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അനൎത്ഥത്തിൽ ചെന്നു ചാടുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? എന്നാൽ അമസ്യാവു കേട്ടില്ല.

11 But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah.

ആകയാൽ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യെഹോവാശ് പുറപ്പെട്ടുചെന്നു, യെഹൂദെക്കുള്ള ബേത്ത്-ശേമെശിൽവെച്ചു അവനും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവും തമ്മിൽ നേരിട്ടു.

12 Judah was defeated by Israel; and each man fled to his tent.

യെഹൂദാ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു തോറ്റു ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ കൂടാരത്തിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോയി.

13 Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh and came to Jerusalem, then broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാശിന്റെ മകൻ അമസ്യാവു എന്ന യെഹൂദാരാജാവിനെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യെഹോവാശ് ബേത്ത്-ശേമെശിൽവെച്ചു പിടിച്ചിട്ടു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു വന്നു, യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ മതിൽ എഫ്രയീംപടിവാതിൽമുതൽ കോൺപടിവാതിൽവരെ നാനൂറു മുഴം ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

14 He took all the gold and silver and all the vessels that were found in the LORD’s house and in the treasures of the king’s house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

അവൻ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലും രാജധാനിയിലെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തിലും കണ്ട പൊന്നും വെള്ളിയുമൊക്കെയും സകലഉപകരണങ്ങളും എടുത്തു ജാമ്യക്കാരെയും പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ശമൎയ്യയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are not they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

യെഹോവാശ് ചെയ്ത മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന്റെ പരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തികളും അവൻ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തതും യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

16 Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his place.

പിന്നെ യെഹോവാശ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു. അവനെ ശമൎയ്യയിൽ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ അടക്കംചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാം അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

17 Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, fifteen years.

യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാശിന്റെ മരണശേഷം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മകൻ അമസ്യാവു പതിനഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു.

18 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are not they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

അമസ്യാവിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങൾ യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

19 They made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.

യെരൂശലേമിൽ അവന്നു വിരോധമായി ഒരു കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടായിട്ടു അവൻ ലാഖീശിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോയി; എന്നാൽ അവർ അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ലാഖീശിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു അവിടെവെച്ചു അവനെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

20 They brought him on horses, and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in David’s city.

അവനെ കുതിരപ്പുറത്തുവെച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു യെരൂശലേമിൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

21 All the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.

യെഹൂദാജനമൊക്കെയും പതിനാറു വയസ്സു പ്രായമുള്ള അസൎയ്യാവെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ അമസ്യാവിന്നു പകരം രാജാവാക്കി.

22 He built Elath and restored it to Judah. After that the king slept with his fathers.

രാജാവു തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചശേഷം ഏലത്ത് പണിതതും അതിനെ യെഹൂദെക്കു വീണ്ടുകൊണ്ടതും ഇവൻ തന്നേ.

23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria for forty-one years.

യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മകൻ അമസ്യാവിന്റെ പതിനഞ്ചാം ആണ്ടിൽ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മകൻ യൊരോബെയാം രാജാവായി ശമൎയ്യയിൽ നാല്പത്തൊന്നു സംവത്സരം വാണു.

24 He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight. He did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.

അവൻ യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു, യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളൊന്നും വിട്ടുമാറിയില്ല.

25 He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath to the sea of the Arabah, according to the LORD, the God of Israel’s word, which he spoke by his servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was from Gath Hepher.

ഗത്ത്-ഹേഫർകാരനായ അമിത്ഥായിയുടെ മകനായ യോനാപ്രവാചകൻ എന്ന തന്റെ ദാസൻമുഖാന്തരം യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനപ്രകാരം അവൻ ഹമാത്തിന്റെ അതിർമുതൽ അരാബയിലെ കടൽവരെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദേശത്തെ വീണ്ടും സ്വാധീനമാക്കി.

26 For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter for all, slave and free; and there was no helper for Israel.

യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ കഷ്ടത എത്രയും കഠിനം, സ്വതന്ത്രനോ അസ്വതന്ത്രനോ ഇല്ല, യിസ്രായേലിന്നു സഹായം ചെയ്യുന്നവനുമില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ കണ്ടിട്ടു,

27 The LORD did not say that he would blot out the name of Israel from under the sky; but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പേർ ആകാശത്തിൻ കീഴിൽനിന്നു മായിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യാതെ യോവാശിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാംമുഖാന്തരം അവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു.

28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he fought, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which had belonged to Judah, for Israel, are not they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവൻ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവൻ യുദ്ധംചെയ്തതും യെഹൂദെക്കു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ദമ്മേശെക്കും ഹമാത്തും യിസ്രായേലിന്നു വീണ്ടുകൊണ്ടതിൽ അവൻ കാണിച്ച പരാക്രമവും യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

29 Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son reigned in his place.

യൊരോബെയാം യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരായ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ മകനായ സെഖൎയ്യാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.
