1 John 3
1 See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world does not know us, because it did not know him.
Mirad qué amor nos ha mostrado el Padre, para que seamos llamados hijos de Dios. Y lo somos; por eso el mundo no nos conoce a nosotros, porque a Él no lo conoció.
2 Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be; but we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him just as he is.
Carísimos, ya somos hijos de Dios aunque todavía no se ha manifestado lo que seremos. Mas sabemos que cuando se manifieste seremos semejantes a Él, porque lo veremos tal como es.
3 Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
Entretanto quienquiera tiene en Él esta esperanza se hace puro, así como Él es puro.
4 Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.
Quienquiera obra el pecado obra también la iniquidad, pues el pecado es la iniquidad.
5 You know that he was revealed to take away our sins, and no sin is in him.
Y sabéis que Él se manifestó para quitar los pecados, y que en Él no hay pecado.
6 Whoever remains in him does not sin. Whoever sins has not seen him and does not know him.
Quien permanece en Él no peca; quien peca no le ha visto ni conocido.
7 Little children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
Hijitos, que nadie os engañe; el que obra la justicia es justo según es justo Él.
8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed: that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Quien comete pecado es del diablo, porque el diablo peca desde el principio. Para esto se manifestó el Hijo de Dios: para destruir las obras del diablo.
9 Whoever is born of God does not commit sin, because his seed remains in him, and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Todo el que ha nacido de Dios no peca, porque en él permanece la simiente de Aquel y no es capaz de pecar por cuanto es nacido de Dios.
10 In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever does not do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who does not love his brother.
En esto se manifiestan los hijos de Dios y los hijos del diablo: cualquiera que no obra justicia no es de Dios, y tampoco aquel que no ama a su hermano.
11 For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another—
Porque este es el mensaje que habéis oído desde el principio: que nos amemos unos a otros.
12 unlike Cain, who was of the evil one and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
No como Caín, que siendo del Maligno mató a su hermano. Y ¿por qué le mató? Porque sus obras eran malas, y las de su hermano justas.
13 Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.
No os extrañéis, hermanos, de que el mundo os odie.
14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love his brother remains in death.
Nosotros conocemos que hemos pasado de la muerte a la vida, porque amamos a los hermanos. El que no ama se queda en la muerte.
15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has consummate (aiōnios g166) life remaining in him.
Todo el que odia a su hermano es homicida; y sabéis que ningún homicida tiene permanente en sí vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
16 By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
En esto hemos conocido el amor, en que Él puso su vida por nosotros; así nosotros debemos poner nuestras vidas por los hermanos.
17 But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?
Quien tiene bienes de este mundo, y ve a su hermano padecer necesidad y le cierra sus entrañas ¿de qué manera permanece el amor de Dios en él?
18 My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.
Hijitos, no amemos de palabra, y con la lengua, sino de obra y en verdad.
19 And by this we know that we are of the truth and persuade our hearts before him,
En esto conoceremos que somos de la verdad, y podremos tener seguridad en nuestro corazón delante de Él,
20 because if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
cualquiera sea el reproche que nos haga nuestro corazón, porque Dios es más grande que nuestro corazón y lo sabe todo.
21 Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness toward God;
Y si el corazón no nos reprocha, carísimos, tenemos plena seguridad delante de Dios;
22 so whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.
y cuanto pedimos lo recibimos de Él, porque guardamos sus mandamientos y hacemos lo que es agradable en su presencia.
23 This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he commanded.
Y su mandamiento es este: que creamos en el nombre de su Hijo Jesucristo, y nos amemos unos a otros, como Él nos mandó.
24 He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.
Quien guarda sus mandamientos habita en Dios y Dios en él; y en esto conocemos que Él mora en nosotros: por el Espíritu que nos ha dado.
