1 Corinthians 9
1 Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have not I seen Jesus Christ, our Lord? Are not you my work in the Lord?
Bin ich nicht frei? Bin ich denn nicht Apostel? Habe ich nicht unseren Herrn Jesus gesehen? Seid denn nicht ihr mein Werk im Herrn?
2 If to others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.
Wenn ich für andere nicht Apostel bin, so bin ich es doch mindestens für euch. Ihr seid das Siegel meines Amtes als Apostel im Herrn.
3 My defense to those who examine me is this:
Meine Antwort meinen Tadlern gegenüber lautet so:
4 Have we no right to eat and to drink?
Haben wir denn nicht das Recht, zu essen und zu trinken?
5 Have we no right to take along a wife who is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?
Haben wir nicht das Recht, eine Schwester als Frau mitzunehmen wie die anderen Apostel, die Brüder des Herrn und selbst Kephas?
6 Or have only Barnabas and I no right to not work?
Oder haben ich und Barnabas allein kein Recht, die Handarbeit ganz aufzugeben?
7 What soldier ever serves at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard, and does not eat of its fruit? Or who feeds a flock, and does not drink from the flock’s milk?
Wer leistet denn Kriegsdienst auf eigene Kosten? Wer pflanzte einen Weinberg und wollte nicht von seinem Ertrag essen? Oder wer weidet eine Herde und genießt nicht von der Milch der Herde?
8 Do I speak these things according to the ways of men? Or does not the law also say the same thing?
Ist es nur Menschenmeinung, was ich da behaupte, oder lehrt denn das Gesetz nichts hierüber?
9 For it is written in the law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain.” Is it for the oxen that God cares,
Im Gesetze Moses heißt es: "Du sollst dem Ochsen beim Dreschen das Maul nicht verbinden". Kümmert denn Gott sich um Ochsen?
10 or does he say it assuredly for our sake? Yes, it was written for our sake, because he who plows ought to plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should partake of his hope.
Oder sagt er das nicht gerade unsererwegen? Ja, unseretwegen ward es aufgeschrieben: Der Pflügende muß auf Hoffnung pflügen und in der Hoffnung auf den Anteil auch der Drescher seine Arbeit tun.
11 If we sowed to you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we reap your fleshly things?
Wenn wir bei euch nun Geistiges gesät haben, ist es dann etwas Besonderes, wenn wir bei euch Irdisches ernten?
12 If others partake of this right over you, do not we yet more? Nevertheless we did not use this right, but we bear all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the Good News of Christ.
Wenn anderen schon ein Recht auf euch zusteht, so doch ganz sicher uns noch mehr. Doch machen wir von diesem Rechte nicht einmal Gebrauch; wir nehmen vielmehr alles ganz auf uns, um dem Evangelium Christi ja kein Hindernis zu bereiten.
13 Do not you know that those who serve around sacred things eat from the things of the temple, and those who wait on the altar have their portion with the altar?
Wißt ihr denn nicht, daß, wer den heiligen Dienst verrichtet, auch vom Heiligtum essen darf? Daß, wer an dem Altare dient, auch am Altar Anteil haben darf?
14 Even so the Lord ordained that those who proclaim the Good News should live from the Good News.
So hat es auch der Herr geboten, daß, wer das Evangelium verkündet, vom Evangelium auch leben soll.
15 But I have used none of these things, and I do not write these things that it may be done so in my case; for I would rather die, than that anyone should make my boasting void.
Von keinem dieser Rechte habe ich indes Gebrauch gemacht. Ich schreibe dies nun nicht, damit es in Zukunft so mit mir gehalten werde; nein, lieber sterben, als... Meinen Ruhm soll mir keiner schmälern!
16 For if I preach the Good News, I have nothing to boast about, for necessity is laid on me; but woe is to me if I do not preach the Good News.
Wenn ich das Evangelium nur verkünde, ist dies kein Ruhm für mich; es liegt dies ja als Muß auf mir. Weh mir, wenn ich das Evangelium nicht verkünden wollte.
17 For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward. But if not of my own will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me.
Tu ich es aber aus freiem Willen, dann habe ich ein Verdienst; wenn unfreiwillig, dann bin ich eben nur mit der Verwaltung eines Amtes betraut.
18 What then is my reward? That when I preach the Good News, I may present the Good News of Christ without charge, so as not to abuse my authority in the Good News.
Wovon hängt mein Verdienst ab? Davon, daß ich das Evangelium ohne Unterhaltsanspruch verkünde, so daß ich von meinem Anspruch an das Evangelium keinen Gebrauch mache.
19 For though I was free from all, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more.
Obwohl in jeder Hinsicht frei, machte ich mich doch zum Sklaven aller, um so recht viele zu gewinnen.
20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law;
Den Juden ward ich wie ein Jude, um so die Juden zu gewinnen; für die, die unter dem Gesetze stehen, ward ich wie einer, der selber unter dem Gesetze steht, obwohl ich selbst nicht unter dem Gesetze stehe, um so die zu gewinnen, die unter dem Gesetze stehen.
21 to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law.
Für die, die vom Gesetze frei sind, ward ich wie einer, der vom Gesetze frei ist - natürlich nicht frei vom Gesetze Gottes, vielmehr an das Gesetz Christi gebunden -, um so die zu gewinnen, die nicht unter dem Gesetze stehen.
22 To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some.
Den Schwachen ward ich schwach, um die Schwachen zu gewinnen: So ward ich allen alles, um überhaupt nur einige zu retten.
23 Now I do this for the sake of the Good News, that I may be a joint partaker of it.
Das alles aber tue ich des Evangeliums wegen, um teil daran zu haben.
24 Do not you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, so that you may win.
Wißt ihr denn wirklich nicht, daß zwar alle Wettläufer in der Rennbahn laufen, jedoch nur ein einziger den Siegespreis erhält? Lauft so, daß ihr ihn erhaltet.
25 Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.
Jeder Kämpfer ist in allem enthaltsam, jene, um einen vergänglichen Kranz zu erhalten, wir aber einen unvergänglichen.
26 I therefore run like that, not aimlessly. I fight like that, not beating the air,
Ich laufe also, aber nicht ins Ungewisse; ich führe Fausthiebe, jedoch nicht in die Luft,
27 but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.
sondern ich züchtige meinen Leib und unterwerfe ihn, damit ich nicht selbst einst unbewährt erfunden werde, nachdem ich anderen gepredigt habe.
