1 Corinthians 3
1 Brothers, I could not speak to you as to spiritual, but as to fleshly, as to babies in Christ.
Καὶ ἐγώ, ἀδελφοί, οὐκ ἠδυνήθην ὑμῖν λαλῆσαι ὡς πνευματικοῖς, ἀλλ᾽ ὡς σαρκικοῖς, ὡς νηπίοις ἐν Χριστῷ.
2 I fed you with milk, not with solid food, for you were not yet ready. Indeed, you are not ready even now,
γάλα ὑμᾶς ἐπότισα καὶ οὐ βρῶμα· οὔπω γὰρ ἠδύνασθε. ἀλλ᾽ οὔτε ἔτι νῦν δύνασθε· ἔτι γὰρ σαρκικοί ἐστε.
3 for you are still fleshly. For insofar as there is jealousy, strife, and factions among you, are not you fleshly, and do not you walk in the ways of men?
ὅπου γὰρ ἐν ὑμῖν ζῆλος καὶ ἔρις καὶ διχοστασίαι, οὐχὶ σαρκικοί ἐστε καὶ κατὰ ἄνθρωπον περιπατεῖτε;
4 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are not you fleshly?
ὅταν γὰρ λέγῃ τις, ἐγὼ μέν εἰμι Παύλου, ἕτερος δὲ ἐγὼ Ἀπολλώ, οὐχὶ σαρκικοί ἐστε;
5 Who then is Apollos, and who is Paul, but servants through whom you believed, and each as the Lord gave to him?
Τίς οὖν ἐστι Παῦλος, τίς δὲ Ἀπολλὼς ἀλλ᾽ ἢ διάκονοι δι᾽ ὧν ἐπιστεύσατε, καὶ ἑκάστῳ ὡς ὁ Κύριος ἔδωκεν;
6 I planted. Apollos watered. But God gave the increase.
ἐγὼ ἐφύτευσα, Ἀπολλὼς ἐπότισεν, ἀλλ᾽ ὁ Θεὸς ηὔξανεν·
7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.
ὥστε οὔτε ὁ φυτεύων ἐστί τι οὔτε ὁ ποτίζων, ἀλλ᾽ ὁ αὐξάνων Θεός.
8 Now he who plants and he who waters are the same, but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
ὁ φυτεύων δὲ καὶ ὁ ποτίζων ἕν εἰσιν· ἕκαστος δὲ τὸν ἴδιον μισθὸν λήψεται κατὰ τὸν ἴδιον κόπον.
9 For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s farming, God’s building.
Θεοῦ γάρ ἐσμεν συνεργοί· Θεοῦ γεώργιον, Θεοῦ οἰκοδομή ἐστε.
10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another builds on it. But let each man be careful how he builds on it.
Κατὰ τὴν χάριν τοῦ Θεοῦ τὴν δοθεῖσάν μοι ὡς σοφὸς ἀρχιτέκτων θεμέλιον τέθεικα, ἄλλος δὲ ἐποικοδομεῖ· ἕκαστος δὲ βλεπέτω πῶς ἐποικοδομεῖ·
11 For no one can lay any other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ.
θεμέλιον γὰρ ἄλλον οὐδεὶς δύναται θεῖναι παρὰ τὸν κείμενον, ὅς ἐστιν Ἰησοῦς Χριστός.
12 But if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or straw,
εἰ δέ τις ἐποικοδομεῖ ἐπὶ τὸν θεμέλιον τοῦτον χρυσόν, ἄργυρον, λίθους τιμίους, ξύλα, χόρτον, καλάμην,
13 each man’s work will be revealed. For the Day will declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself will test what sort of work each man’s work is.
ἑκάστου τὸ ἔργον φανερὸν γενήσεται· ἡ γὰρ ἡμέρα δηλώσει· ὅτι ἐν πυρὶ ἀποκαλύπτεται· καὶ ἑκάστου τὸ ἔργον ὁποῖόν ἐστι τὸ πῦρ δοκιμάσει.
14 If any man’s work remains which he built on it, he will receive a reward.
εἴ τινος τὸ ἔργον μενεῖ ὃ ἐπῳκοδόμησε, μισθὸν λήψεται·
15 If any man’s work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, but as through fire.
εἴ τινος τὸ ἔργον κατακαήσεται, ζημιωθήσεται, αὐτὸς δὲ σωθήσεται, οὕτως δὲ ὡς διὰ πυρός.
16 Do not you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?
Οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ναὸς Θεοῦ ἐστε καὶ τὸ Πνεῦμα τοῦ Θεοῦ οἰκεῖ ἐν ὑμῖν;
17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, which you are.
εἴ τις τὸν ναὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ φθείρει, φθερεῖ τοῦτον ὁ Θεός· ὁ γὰρ ναὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ ἅγιός ἐστιν, οἵτινές ἐστε ὑμεῖς.
18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks that he is wise among you in this age (aiōn g165), let him become a fool, that he may become wise.
Μηδεὶς ἑαυτὸν ἐξαπατάτω· εἴ τις δοκεῖ σοφὸς εἶναι ἐν ὑμῖν ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τούτῳ, μωρὸς γενέσθω, ἵνα γένηται σοφός. (aiōn g165)
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He has taken the wise in their craftiness.”
ἡ γὰρ σοφία τοῦ κόσμου τούτου μωρία παρὰ τῷ Θεῷ ἐστι. γέγραπται γάρ· ὁ δρασσόμενος τοὺς σοφοὺς ἐν τῇ πανουργίᾳ αὐτῶν·
20 And again, “The Lord knows the reasoning of the wise, that it is worthless.”
καὶ πάλιν· Κύριος γινώσκει τοὺς διαλογισμοὺς τῶν σοφῶν, ὅτι εἰσὶ μάταιοι.
21 Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours,
ὥστε μηδεὶς καυχάσθω ἐν ἀνθρώποις· πάντα γὰρ ὑμῶν ἐστιν,
22 whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. All are yours,
εἴτε Παῦλος εἴτε Ἀπολλὼς εἴτε Κηφᾶς εἴτε κόσμος εἴτε ζωὴ εἴτε θάνατος εἴτε ἐνεστῶτα εἴτε μέλλοντα, πάντα ὑμῶν ἐστιν,
23 and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.
ὑμεῖς δὲ Χριστοῦ, Χριστὸς δὲ Θεοῦ.
