1 Corinthians 14
1 Follow after love and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
Amlunghaih to patom o poe ah, Muithla tangqum paekhaihnawk to koeh oh, toe lokpui koekah Sithaw lok taphonghaih to koeh o kue ah.
2 For he who speaks in another language speaks not to men, but to God, for no one understands, but in the Spirit he speaks mysteries.
Kalah lok maeto apae kami loe, kami khaeah apae ai, Sithaw khaeah ni apaeh: anih mah apaeh ih lok to mi mah doeh thaih kop ai; toe anih mah Muithla ah ni kathuk loknawk to apaeh.
3 But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, exhortation, and consolation.
Sithaw lok taphong kami loe kaminawk qoenghaih, thapaekhaih hoi monghaih loknawk ni a thuih.
4 He who speaks in another language edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the assembly.
Panoek ai ih lok apae kami loe angmah to ni qoengsak; toe lok taphong kami loe kricaabu to qoengsak.
5 Now I desire to have you all speak with other languages, but even more that you would prophesy. For he is greater who prophesies than he who speaks with other languages, unless he interprets, that the assembly may be built up.
Kalah loknawk na paeh o boih hanah kang koeh haih, toe lok taphong hanah kang koeh o haih kue: kricaabu qoeng thai hanah, lok lehhaih om ai nahaeloe, panoek ai ih lokpae kami pongah loe lok taphong kami to len kue.
6 But now, brothers, if I come to you speaking with other languages, what would I profit you unless I speak to you either by way of revelation, or of knowledge, or of prophesying, or of teaching?
Nawkamyanawk, vaihi panoek ai ih lok hoiah lok taphong hanah nangcae khaeah kang zoh moe, hnuksakhaih maw, panoekthaihaih maw, lok taphonghaih hoi patukhaih lok hoiah maw ka thui ai nahaeloe, nangcae han tih avanghaih maw om tih?
7 Even lifeless things that make a sound, whether pipe or harp, if they did not give a distinction in the sounds, how would it be known what is piped or harped?
Hinghaih katawn ai atuen apawknawk mataeng doeh atuenh to kamnoekah tacawt ai nahaeloe, tamoi lok maw, to tih ai boeh loe katoeng lok, tito kawbangmaw panoek thai tih.
8 For if the trumpet gave an uncertain sound, who would prepare himself for war?
Mongkah doeh kahoih ah ueng ai nahaeloe, mi maw misatuk han amsak tih?
9 So also you, unless you uttered by the tongue words easy to understand, how would it be known what is spoken? For you would be speaking into the air.
To baktih toengah nangcae doeh thaih kazoi lok hoiah lok na thui o ai nahaeloe, timaw a thuih, tito kawbangmaw panoek thai tih? Takhi khaeah thuih rumram ih lok baktiah ni na om tih.
10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without meaning.
Long nuiah lok congca om doeh om tih, toe ahlong kaom ai lok roe om ai.
11 If then I do not know the meaning of the language, I would be to him who speaks a foreigner, and he who speaks would be a foreigner to me.
To pongah lokhlong ka panoek ai nahaeloe, kai loe lokthui kami hanah angvin ah ni ka om tih, lokthui kami doeh kai hanah angvin ah ni om tih.
12 So also you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, seek that you may abound to the building up of the assembly.
Muithla tangqumnawk na koeh o tangtang pongah, kahoih koek kricaabu qoenghaih to pakrong oh.
13 Therefore let him who speaks in another language pray that he may interpret.
To pongah panoek ai ih lok apae kami loe, lok a leh thai hanah lawkthui nasoe.
14 For if I pray in another language, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
Panoek ai ih lok hoiah lawk ka thuih nahaeloe, kai ih palung doeh lawk a thuih toeng, toe panoekhaih bangah loe kai han atho om ai.
15 What should I do? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
To tih nahaeloe hnukkhuem ah kawbangmaw ka sak han boeh? Palung hoiah lawk ka thuih baktih toengah, panoekhaih hoiah doeh lawk ka thuih han: palung hoiah laa ka sak baktih toengah panoekhaih hoiah doeh laa ka sak han.
16 Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who fills the place of the unlearned say the “Amen” at your giving of thanks, seeing he does not know what you say?
To tih ai nahaeloe palung hoi Sithaw na pakoeh naah, nangcae salakah kaom lok thaih kop ai kami mah, kawbangmaw na thuih o ih lok to Amen, tiah thui thai tih?
17 For you most certainly give thanks well, but the other person is not built up.
Nang mah loe kahoihah kawnhaih lok to na thuih, toe minawk qoenghaih om ai.
18 I thank my God, I speak with other languages more than you all.
Kai loe nangcae boih pong kamthlai ah loknawk to ka paeh, to pongah Sithaw ka pakoeh:
19 However, in the assembly I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might instruct others also, than ten thousand words in another language.
toe panoek ai ih lok sang hato hoi kricaabu thungah lok ka thuih pongah loe, minawk patuk thai hanah, panoek ih lokmu pangato hoiah ni lok ka thuih.
20 Brothers, do not be children in thoughts, yet in malice be babies, but in thoughts be mature.
Nawkamyanawk, panoekhaih bangah nawkta baktiah om o hmah: toe kahoih ai hmuen ah loe nawkta baktiah om oh, panoekhaih bangah loe saning koep kami baktiah om oh.
21 In the law it is written, “By men of strange languages and by the lips of strangers I will speak to this people. They will not even listen to me that way, says the Lord.”
Kaalok thungah, Minawk kalah ih lok hoi minawk kalah ih pahni hoiah hae kaminawk khaeah lok ka thuih han; toe ka thuih ih loknawk boih nihcae mah tahngai o mak ai, tiah tarik ih oh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
22 Therefore other languages are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to the unbelieving; but prophesying is for a sign, not to the unbelieving, but to those who believe.
To pongah loknawk loe, tanghaih tawn kaminawk han ih na ai, tanghaih tawn ai kaminawk hanah ni angmathaih maeto ah oh: toe lok taphonghaih loe tang ai kaminawk han ih na ai, tanghaih tawn kaminawk han ih ni taphong.
23 If therefore the whole assembly is assembled together and all speak with other languages, and unlearned or unbelieving people come in, will not they say that you are crazy?
To pongah kricaabunawk boih nawnto amkhueng naah, kami boih mah kalah loknawk to apae o nahaeloe, to ahmuen ah angzo Sithaw panoek ai kami hoi tanghaih tawn ai kaminawk mah nangcae to kamthu kaminawk, tiah na naa o mak ai maw?
24 But if all prophesy, and someone unbelieving or unlearned comes in, he is reproved by all, and he is judged by all.
Toe lok na taphong o boih nahaeloe, tanghaih tawn ai kami maw, to tih ai boeh loe Sithaw panoek ai kami to angzo naah, na thuih o ih lok rang hoiah anih mah kai loe kami zae ni, tiah thaih kophaih to tawn ueloe, poek amkhraihaih palungthin to tawn tih:
25 And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed. So he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed.
angmah ih palung thungah tamquta hoi poek ih hmuennawk to taphong tih; anih mah khokkhu cangkrawnhaih hoiah Sithaw to bok ueloe, nangcae khaeah Sithaw oh tangtang, tiah thui tih.
26 What is it then, brothers? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has another language, or has an interpretation. Let all things be done to build each other up.
Nawkamyanawk, kawbangmaw a sak o han boeh? Saam laa sah thaih kami, patuk thaih kami, lok kalah apae kami, amtuenghaih hnu kami, lok leh thaih kaminawk boih bokhaih ahmuen ah nawnto nam khueng o naah, hmuen boih ah kami qoeng thai hanah sah oh.
27 If any man speaks in another language, let there be two, or at the most three, and in turn; and let one interpret.
Panoek ai ih lokpae kami hnetto maw, to tih ai boeh loe pop koekah thumto maw om nahaeloe, maeto pacoeng maeto lokthui o nasoe loe, kami maeto mah lok to leh pae nasoe.
28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in the assembly, and let him speak to himself and to God.
Toe lok leh kami om ai nahaeloe, anih mah angmah hoi Sithaw khaeah lok to apae nasoe, kricaabu amkhuenghaih ahmuen ah loe anghngai duem nasoe.
29 Let two or three of the prophets speak, and let the others discern.
Lok taphong kami hnetto mah maw, to tih ai boeh loe thumto mah lok to thui nasoe loe, kalah kaminawk mah kasae kahoih lok to khing o nasoe.
30 But if a revelation is made to another sitting by, let the first keep silent.
To naah a taengah anghnu kalah kami khaeah Sithaw mah hnuksakhaih paek nahaeloe, lokthui hmaloe kami to anghngai duem nasoe.
31 For you all can prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be exhorted.
Kami boih mah amtuk o moe, kami boih mah poek monghaih tawnh o thai hanah, maeto pacoeng maeto lok to thui oh.
32 The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets,
Tahmaanawk ih palungthin loe tahmaanawk mah pazawk han oh.
33 for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the assemblies of the saints.
Kricaabunawk boih loe kaciim kami ah oh o baktih toengah, Sithaw loe anghmang thok Sithaw ah om ai, monghaih Sithaw ah ni oh.
34 Let the wives be quiet in the assemblies, for it has not been permitted for them to be talking except in submission, as the law also says,
Nangcae thung ih nongpatanawk loe kricaabunawk amkhuenghaih ahmuen ah anghngai o duem nasoe: nihcae loe lokthuih thaihaih tawn o ai; kaalok mah thuih ih baktih toengah, nihcae loe lok tahngaihaih hoiah khosak o han oh.
35 if they desire to learn anything. “Let them ask their own husbands at home, for it is shameful for a wife to be talking in the assembly.”
Nihcae mah hmuen maeto amtuk han koeh o nahaeloe, im ah angmacae sava khaeah dueng o nasoe: kricaabu amkhuenghaih ahmuen ah lokthuih loe nongpata han azat thoh.
36 What!? Was it from you that the word of God went out? Or did it come to you alone?
Sithaw ih lok loe nangcae khae hoiah maw angzoh? To tih ai boeh loe nangcae han khue maw angzoh?
37 If any man thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize the things which I write to you, that they are the commandment of the Lord.
Mi kawbaktih doeh angmah hoi angmah to tahmaa ah maw, to tih ai boeh loe muithla kami ah maw poek nahaeloe, nangcae khaeah kang tarik o ih loknawk loe Angraeng mah paek ih lok ni, tiah panoek nasoe.
38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.
Toe mi kawbaktih doeh panoek ai baktiah om kami loe, panoek ai kami baktiah om nasoe.
39 Therefore, brothers, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking with other languages.
To pongah, nawkamyanawk, lok taphonghaih to palungtang hoi koeh oh, kalah loknawk apaeh hanah pakaa o hmah.
40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
Hmuen boih khet kamcuk hoi karaem ah sah oh.
