1 Corinthians 1
1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,
Pablo, llamado a ser apóstol de Jesu Cristo por la voluntad de Dios, y el hermano Sóstenes,
2 to the assembly of God which is at Corinth—those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, both theirs and ours:
A la iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto, a los santificados en Cristo Jesús, llamados a ser santos, con todos los que en cualquier lugar invocan el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesu Cristo, así de ellos como el nuestro:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Gracia a vosotros, y paz de Dios nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesu Cristo.
4 I always thank my God concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus,
Doy gracias a mi Dios siempre por vosotros, por la gracia de Dios que os es dada en Cristo Jesús;
5 that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge—
Que en todas las cosas sois enriquecidos en él, en toda palabra y en toda ciencia;
6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you—
Según que el testimonio de Cristo ha sido confirmado en vosotros:
7 so that you come behind in no gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
De tal manera que nada os falte en ningún don, esperando la manifestación de nuestro Señor Jesu Cristo;
8 who will also confirm you until the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
El cual también os confirmará hasta el fin, para que seáis inculpables en el día de nuestro Señor Jesu Cristo.
9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Fiel es Dios por el cual fuisteis llamados a la participación de su Hijo Jesu Cristo nuestro Señor.
10 Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Os ruego, pues, hermanos, por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesu Cristo, que habléis todos una misma cosa; y que no haya entre vosotros disensiones; antes seáis perfectamente unidos en un mismo entendimiento, y en un mismo parecer.
11 For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you.
Porque me ha sido declarado de vosotros, hermanos míos, por los que son de la familia de Cloé, que hay entre vosotros contiendas.
12 Now I mean this, that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” “I follow Apollos,” “I follow Cephas,” and, “I follow Christ.”
Quiero decir, que cada uno de vosotros dice: Yo cierto soy de Pablo; mas yo de Apólos; mas yo de Céfas; mas yo de Cristo.
13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?
¿Es dividido Cristo? ¿Fue crucificado Pablo por vosotros? ¿o habéis sido bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,
Doy gracias a mi Dios, que a ninguno de vosotros he bautizado, mas que a Crispo y a Gayo;
15 so that no one should say that I had baptized you into my own name.
Para que ninguno diga que yo le bauticé en mi nombre.
16 (I also baptized the household of Stephanas; besides them, I do not know whether I baptized any other.)
Y también bauticé la casa de Estéfanas; mas no sé si haya bautizado a algún otro.
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News—not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.
Porque no me envió Cristo a bautizar, sino a predicar el evangelio: no en sabiduría de palabra, porque no sea hecha vana la cruz de Cristo.
18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Porque la predicación de la cruz a la verdad, insensatez es para los que se pierden; mas para los que se salvan, es a saber, para nosotros, poder de Dios es.
19 For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise. I will bring the discernment of the discerning to nothing.”
Porque está escrito: Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios, y la inteligencia de los entendidos haré venir a la nada.
20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age (aiōn g165)? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
¿En dónde está el sabio? ¿En dónde el escriba? ¿En dónde el disputador de este siglo? ¿No ha enloquecido Dios la sabiduría de este mundo? (aiōn g165)
21 For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.
Porque por no haber el mundo conocido, en la sabiduría de Dios, a Dios por sabiduría, agradó a Dios salvar los creyentes por la insensatez de la predicación.
22 For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom,
Porque los Judíos piden señales, y los Griegos buscan sabiduría;
23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Greeks,
Mas nosotros predicamos a Cristo crucificado, que es a los Judíos ciertamente tropezadero, y a los Griegos insensatez:
24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God;
Empero a los llamados, así Judíos como Griegos, Cristo poder de Dios, y sabiduría de Dios.
25 because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Porque la insensatez de Dios es más sabia que los hombres; y lo flaco de Dios es más fuerte que los hombres.
26 For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble;
Porque mirád, hermanos, vuestra vocación, que no sois muchos sabios según la carne, no muchos poderosos, no muchos nobles:
27 but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world that he might put to shame the things that are strong.
Antes las cosas fatuas del mundo escogió Dios para avergonzar a los sabios; y las cosas flacas del mundo escogió Dios para avergonzar a las que son fuertes;
28 God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that do not exist, that he might bring to nothing the things that exist,
Y las cosas viles del mundo, y las menospreciadas escogió Dios; y hasta las que no son, para deshacer las que son:
29 that no flesh should boast before God.
Para que ninguna carne se jacte en su presencia.
30 Because of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption,
De él empero sois vosotros en Cristo Jesús, el cual es hecho para nosotros de Dios sabiduría, y justicia, y santificación, y redención;
31 that, as it is written, “He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.”
Para que, como está escrito: El que se gloría, gloríese en el Señor.
