1 Chronicles 23
1 Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
Als David alt und lebenssatt war, machte er seinen Sohn Salomo zum König über Israel.
2 He gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
Er versammelte alle Fürsten Israels, die Priester und die Leviten.
3 The Levites were counted from thirty years old and upward; and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand.
Und die Leviten wurden gezählt, von dreißig Jahren an und darüber, und es belief sich ihre Zahl, Kopf für Kopf gerechnet, auf 38000 Männer.
4 David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of the LORD’s house, six thousand were officers and judges,
“Von diesen sollen 24000 den Geschäften am Tempel Jahwes vorstehen; 6000 sollen Amtleute und Richter sein,
5 four thousand were doorkeepers, and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made for giving praise.”
4000 Thorhüter, und 4000 sollen Jahwe lobpreisen mit den Instrumenten, die ich zum Lobpreisen angefertigt habe.”
6 David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
Und David teilte sie in Abteilungen nach den Söhnen Levis, Gerson, Kahath und Merari.
7 Of the Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei.
Zu den Gersonitern gehörten: Laedan und Simei.
8 The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief, Zetham, and Joel, three.
Die Söhne Laedans waren: Jehiel, das Oberhaupt, Setham und Joel, zusammen drei.
9 The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers’ households of Ladan.
Die Söhne Simeis waren: Selomith, Hasiel und Haran, zusammen drei. Dies waren die Familienhäupter des Geschlechts Laedans.
10 The sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
Die Söhne Simeis aber waren: Jahath, Sina, Jeus und Beria; dies waren die Söhne Simeis, zusammen vier.
11 Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second; but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons; therefore they became a fathers’ house in one reckoning.
Und Jahath war das Oberhaupt, Sina der zweite; Jeus und Beria aber hatten nur wenig Kinder, so daß sie nur eine Familie, eine Amtsklasse bildeten.
12 The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
Die Söhne Kahaths waren: Amram, Jizhar, Hebron und Ussiel, zusammen vier.
13 The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister to him, and to bless in his name forever.
Die Söhne Amrams waren: Aaron und Mose. Aaron aber wurde ausgesondert, damit er als hochheilig geweiht würde, er und seine Söhne, für alle Zeiten, damit sie für alle Zeiten vor Jahwe räucherten, ihm dienten und in seinem Namen segneten.
14 But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.
Und was Mose, den Mann Gottes, betrifft, so wurden seine Söhne zum Stamme Levi überhaupt gerechnet.
15 The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.
Die Söhne Moses waren: Gersom und Elieser;
16 The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the chief.
die Söhne Gersoms: Sebuel, das Oberhaupt.
17 The son of Eliezer was Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
Die Söhne Eliesers aber waren: Rehabja, das Oberhaupt. Andere Söhne hatte Elieser nicht; dagegen waren die Söhne Rehabjas überaus zahlreich.
18 The son of Izhar: Shelomith the chief.
Die Söhne Jizhars waren: Selomith, das Oberhaupt;
19 The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
die Söhne Hebrons: Jerija das Oberhaupt, Amarja der zweite, Jahasiel der dritte, Jekameam der vierte.
20 The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.
Die Söhne Ussiels waren: Micha das Oberhaupt und Jissia der zweite.
21 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.
Die Söhne Meraris waren: Mahli und Musi; die Söhne Mahlis: Eleasar und Kis.
22 Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only; and their relatives, the sons of Kish, took them as wives.
Eleasar aber starb, ohne Söhne zu hinterlassen; er hatte nur Töchter. Diese heirateten die Söhne Kis', ihre Vettern.
23 The sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth, three.
Die Söhne Musis waren: Mahli, Eder und Jeremoth, zusammen drei.
24 These were the sons of Levi after their fathers’ houses, even the heads of the fathers’ houses of those who were counted individually, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of the LORD’s house, from twenty years old and upward.
Dies sind die Leviten nach ihren Familien, die Familienhäupter, so viele ihrer gemustert wurden, nach der Zahl der Namen Kopf für Kopf, die beim Dienst am Tempel Jahwes beschäftigt waren, von zwanzig Jahren an und darüber.
25 For David said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people; and he dwells in Jerusalem forever.
Denn David sprach: Jahwe, der Gott Israels, hat seinem Volke Ruhe gegeben und wohnt nun für immer zu Jerusalem.
26 Also the Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service.”
So brauchen nun auch die Leviten die Wohnung und alle zu ihrem Dienst erforderlichen Geräte nicht mehr zu tragen.
27 For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were counted, from twenty years old and upward.
(Denn nach den letzten Geschichten Davids wurde die Anzahl der Leviten von den Zwanzigjährigen an berechnet.)
28 For their duty was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the LORD’s house—in the courts, in the rooms, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of God’s house;
Vielmehr besteht ihre Amtspflicht in der Unterstützung der Söhne Aarons, im Dienst am Tempel Jahwes als Aufseher über die Vorhöfe und die Zellen und die Reinigung alles Heiligen, sowie in den Dienstverrichtungen am Tempel Gottes,
29 for the show bread also, and for the fine flour for a meal offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all measurements of quantity and size;
ferner in der Besorgung der reihenweise aufgelegten Brote, des Feinmehls zu den Speisopfern, der ungesäuerten Fladen, der Pfanne und des Eingerührten, sowie in jeder Art des Messens,
30 and to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise in the evening;
ferner darin, daß sie jeden Morgen hintreten, Jahwe zu danken und ihn zu preisen, und ebenso am Abend
31 and to offer all burnt offerings to the LORD on the Sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before the LORD;
und bei jeder Darbringung von Brandopfern für Jahwe, an den Sabbaten, den Neumonden und den Festen, so viele ihrer nach der darüber geltenden Vorschrift beständig vor Jahwe darzubringen sind.
32 and that they should keep the duty of the Tent of Meeting, the duty of the holy place, and the duty of the sons of Aaron their brothers for the service of the LORD’s house.
Und so sollen sie der Geschäfte am Offenbarungszelt und der Geschäfte am Heiligtum und der Geschäfte in der Unterstützung der Söhne Aarons, ihrer Stammesgenossen, warten im Dienst an der Wohnung Jahwes.
