< 1 Chronicles 15 >

1 David made himself houses in David’s city; and he prepared a place for God’s ark, and pitched a tent for it.
2 Then David said, “No one ought to carry God’s ark but the Levites. For the LORD has chosen them to carry God’s ark, and to minister to him forever.”
Pea naʻe toki pehē ʻe Tevita, “ʻOku ʻikai lelei ke fua ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava ʻae ʻOtua ka ʻe he kau Livai pe: he ko kinautolu ia kuo fili ʻe Sihova ke fua ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava ʻae ʻOtua, pea ke tauhi kiate ia ʻo taʻengata.”
3 David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the LORD’s ark to its place, which he had prepared for it.
4 David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:
Pea naʻe fakataha ʻe Tevita ʻae fānau ʻa ʻElone, mo e kau Livai:
5 of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brothers one hundred twenty;
Mei he ngaahi foha ʻo Kohate; ʻa Ulieli ko honau ʻeiki, pea mo hono kāinga ko e toko teau mo e toko uofulu:
6 of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred twenty;
Pea ʻoe ngaahi foha ʻo Melali: ko ʻAsaia, ko honau ʻeiki, pea mo hono kāinga ko e toko teau mo e toko uofulu:
7 of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brothers one hundred thirty;
Pea ʻoe ngaahi foha ʻo Kesomi; ko Soeli ko honau ʻeiki, pea mo hono kāinga ko e toko teau mo e toko tolungofulu:
8 of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred;
Pea ʻoe ngaahi foha ʻo ʻElisafani; ko Simaia ko honau ʻeiki, pea mo hono kāinga ko e toko uangeau:
9 of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and his brothers eighty;
Pea ʻoe ngaahi foha ʻo Hepeloni; ko Ilieli ko honau ʻeiki, pea mo hono kāinga ko e toko valungofulu:
10 of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and his brothers one hundred twelve.
Pea ʻoe ngaahi foha ʻo ʻUsili; ko ʻAminitapi ko honau ʻeiki, pea mo hono kāinga ko e toko teau mo e toko hongofulu ma ua.
11 David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites: for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab,
Pea naʻe ui mai ʻe Tevita kia Satoki mo ʻApiata ko e ongo taulaʻeiki, pea mo e kau Livai, kia Ulieli, mo ʻAsaia, mo Soeli, mo Simaia, mo Elieli, pea mo ʻAminitapi,
12 and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, up to the place that I have prepared for it.
‌ʻo ne pehē kiate kinautolu, “Ko kimoutolu ko e kau tuʻukimuʻa ʻi he ngaahi tamai ʻae kakai Livai: mou fakamāʻoniʻoniʻi ʻakimoutolu, ʻio, ʻakimoutolu pea mo homou kāinga, koeʻuhi ke mou ʻomi ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava ʻa Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli ki he potu kuo u teuteu ki ai.
13 For because you did not carry it at first, the LORD our God broke out in anger against us, because we did not seek him according to the ordinance.”
He ko e meʻa ʻi he ʻikai te mou fuofua [ʻomi ]ia, ko ia naʻe teʻia ai ʻakitautolu ʻe Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua, koeʻuhi naʻe ʻikai te tau kumi kiate ia ʻo hangē ko hono anga ʻoku totonu.”
14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel.
Ko ia naʻe fakamāʻoniʻoniʻi ʻakinautolu ʻe he kau taulaʻeiki mo e kau Livai ke nau ʻohake ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava ʻa Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli.
15 The children of the Levites bore God’s ark on their shoulders with its poles, as Moses commanded according to the LORD’s word.
16 David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers with instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up their voices with joy.
Pea naʻe lea ʻa Tevita ki he ʻeiki ʻoe kau Livai ke ne vaheʻi honau kāinga niʻihi ke fai ʻae hiva ʻaki ʻae ngaahi meʻa hiva, ko e ngaahi ūtete, mo e ngaahi haʻape, mo e ngaahi ukamea pakihi, naʻe tatangi, ʻi he hiki hake ʻae leʻo ʻi he fiefia.
17 So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;
Ko ia naʻe vaheʻi ʻe he kau Livai ʻa Hemani ko e foha ʻo Soeli; pea ʻi hono kāinga ʻoʻona, ʻa ʻAsafi ko e foha ʻo Pelekia; pea mei he ngaahi foha ʻo Melali ko honau kāinga, ʻa Etani ko e foha ʻo Kusaia;
18 and with them their brothers of the second rank: Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.
Pea naʻe fakataha mo kinautolu ʻa honau kāinga ʻo hono ua ʻoe lakanga, ko Sakalia, mo Peni, mo Seseeli, mo Similamoti, mo Sehieli, mo Uni, mo ʻIliapi, mo Penaia, mo Maaseia, mo Matitia, mo Elifili, mo Mikineia, mo ʻOpeti-ʻItomi, mo Sieli, ko e kau leʻo matapā.
19 So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were given cymbals of bronze to sound aloud;
Ko ia, naʻe vaheʻi ʻae kau hiva, ko Hemani, mo ʻAsafi, mo Etani, ke fakapakihi ʻaki ʻae ngaahi meʻa pakihi palasa;
20 and Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with stringed instruments set to Alamoth;
Pea ko Sakalia, mo ʻAsieli, mo Similamoti, mo Sehieli, mo Uni, mo ʻIliapi, mo Māseia, mo Penaia, ki he ngaahi ūtete ʻo hangē ko e leʻo fakafefine;
21 and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps tuned to the eight-stringed lyre, to lead.
Pea ko Matitia, mo Elifili, mo Mikineia, mo ʻOpeti-itomi, mo Sieli, mo ʻAsasia, ki he ngaahi haʻape naʻe leʻo lahi hake.
22 Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the singing. He taught the singers, because he was skillful.
Pea naʻe ʻia Kinania ʻae fasi ʻoe hiva naʻe ekinaki ʻe ia ʻae hiva, he naʻa ne poto ai.
23 Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.
Pea ko Pelekia mo ʻElikena ko e ongo tauhi matapā ʻakinaua ki he puha ʻoe fuakava.
24 Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before God’s ark; and Obed-Edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.
Pea ko Sipania, mo Sihosafate, mo Netanili, mo ʻAmasai, mo Sakalia, mo Penaia, mo ʻEliesa ko e kau taulaʻeiki, naʻe ifi ʻekinautolu ʻae ngaahi meʻalea ʻo muʻomuʻa ʻi he puha ʻoe fuakava ʻae ʻOtua: pea ko ʻOpeti-ʻItomi mo Sehia ko e ongo tauhi matapā ʻakinaua ki he puha ʻoe fuakava.
25 So David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands went to bring the ark of the LORD’s covenant up out of the house of Obed-Edom with joy.
Ko ia, naʻe ʻalu ʻa Tevita, mo e kau mātuʻa ʻo ʻIsileli, mo e ngaahi ʻeikitau naʻe pule ki he ngaahi toko afe, koeʻuhi ke nau ʻohake ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava ʻa Sihova mei he fale ʻo ʻOpeti-ʻItomi, ʻi he fiefia.
26 When God helped the Levites who bore the ark of the LORD’s covenant, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.
Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻi heʻene tokoni ʻe he ʻOtua ʻae kau Livai naʻe fua ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava ʻa Sihova, naʻa nau feilaulau ʻaki ʻae fanga pulu ʻe fitu, mo e fanga sipitangata ʻe fitu.
27 David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the choir master with the singers; and David had an ephod of linen on him.
Pea naʻe kofuʻaki ʻa Tevita ʻae kofu ʻoe tupenu lelei, pea naʻe pehē mo e kau Livai kotoa pē naʻe fua ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava, mo e kau hiva, pea pehē mo Kinania ko e tangata taki hiva mo e kau hiva: naʻe kofuʻaki foki ʻe Tevita ʻae ʻefoti ʻoe tupenu lelei.
28 Thus all Israel brought the ark of the LORD’s covenant up with shouting, with sound of the cornet, with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with stringed instruments and harps.
Naʻe pehē ʻae ʻomi ʻe ʻIsileli kātoa ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava ʻa Sihova ʻaki ʻae mavava, mo e ʻuʻulu ʻoe ngaahi nifoʻi manu, mo e ngaahi meʻalea, mo e ngaahi meʻa pakihi, mo e tatangi ʻoe ngaahi ūtete mo e ngaahi haʻape.
29 As the ark of the LORD’s covenant came to David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.
Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻI heʻene aʻu atu ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava ʻa Sihova ki he Kolo ʻo Tevita, naʻe sio ʻa Mikale ko e ʻofefine ʻo Saula mei he matapā sioʻata, mo ne mamata ki he tuʻi ko Tevita ʻoku meʻe mo tā meʻa faiva: pea naʻa ne manuki kiate ia ʻi hono loto.
