Proverbs 22
1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.
Ein guter Name ist vorzüglicher als großer Reichtum, Anmut besser als Silber und Gold.
2 The rich and the poor meet together. Jehovah is the maker of them all.
Reiche und Arme begegnen sich: Jehova hat sie alle gemacht.
3 A prudent man sees the evil, and hides himself, but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.
Der Kluge sieht das Unglück und verbirgt sich; die Einfältigen aber gehen weiter und leiden Strafe.
4 The reward of humility and the fear of Jehovah is riches and honor and life.
Die Folge der Demut, der Furcht Jehovas, ist Reichtum und Ehre und Leben.
5 Thorns and snares are in the way of a perverse man. He who keeps his soul shall be far from them.
Dornen, Schlingen sind auf dem Wege des Verkehrten; wer seine Seele bewahrt, hält sich fern von ihnen.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Erziehe den Knaben seinem Wege gemäß; er wird nicht davon weichen, auch wenn er alt wird.
7 The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
Der Reiche herrscht über den Armen, und der Borgende ist ein Knecht des Leihenden.
8 He who sows iniquity shall reap calamity, and the rod of his wrath shall fail.
Wer Unrecht sät, wird Unheil ernten, und seines Zornes Rute wird ein Ende nehmen.
9 He who has a bountiful eye shall be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor.
Wer gütigen Auges ist, der wird gesegnet werden; denn er gibt von seinem Brote dem Armen.
10 Cast out the scoffer, and contention will go out, yea, strife and reproach will cease.
Treibe den Spötter fort, so geht der Zank hinaus, und Streit und Schande hören auf.
11 He who loves pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips, the king will be his friend.
Wer Reinheit des Herzens liebt, wessen Lippen Anmut sind, dessen Freund ist der König.
12 The eyes of Jehovah preserve knowledge, but he overthrows the words of the treacherous man.
Die Augen Jehovas behüten die Erkenntnis, und er vereitelt die Worte des Treulosen.
13 The sluggard says, There is a lion outside. I shall be slain in the streets.
Der Faule spricht: Ein Löwe ist draußen; ich möchte ermordet werden mitten auf den Straßen!
14 The mouth of interloping women is a deep pit. He who is abhorred of Jehovah shall fall in it.
Der Mund fremder Weiber ist eine tiefe Grube; wem Jehova zürnt, der fällt hinein.
15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
Narrheit ist gekettet an das Herz des Knaben; die Rute der Zucht wird sie davon entfernen.
16 He who oppresses a poor man to his increase, and he who gives to a rich man, comes only to want.
Wer den Armen bedrückt, ihm zur Bereicherung ist es; wer dem Reichen gibt, es ist nur zum Mangel.
17 Incline thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thy heart to my knowledge.
Neige dein Ohr und höre die Worte der Weisen, und richte dein Herz auf mein Wissen!
18 For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee, if they be established together upon thy lips.
Denn lieblich ist es, wenn du sie in deinem Innern bewahrst; möchten sie allzumal auf deinen Lippen Bestand haben!
19 That thy trust may be in Jehovah, I have made them known to thee this day, even to thee.
Damit dein Vertrauen auf Jehova sei, habe ich heute dich, ja dich, belehrt.
20 Have I not written to thee excellent things of counsels and knowledge,
Habe ich dir nicht Vortreffliches aufgeschrieben an Ratschlägen und Erkenntnis,
21 to make thee know the certainty of the words of truth, that thou may carry back words of truth to those who send thee?
um dir kundzutun die Richtschnur der Worte der Wahrheit: damit du denen, die dich senden, Worte zurückbringest, welche Wahrheit sind?
22 Do not rob a poor man, because he is poor, nor oppress an afflicted man in the gate.
Beraube nicht den Armen, weil er arm ist, und zertritt nicht den Elenden im Tore.
23 For Jehovah will plead their cause, and despoil of life those who despoil them.
Denn Jehova wird ihre Rechtssache führen, und ihre Berauber des Lebens berauben.
24 Make no friendship with a man who is given to anger, and thou shall not go with a wrathful man,
Geselle dich nicht zu einem Zornigen, und geh nicht um mit einem hitzigen Manne,
25 lest thou learn this ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
damit du seine Pfade nicht lernest und einen Fallstrick davontragest für deine Seele.
26 Be thou not one of those who strike hands, or of those who are sureties for debts.
Sei nicht unter denen, die in die Hand einschlagen, unter denen, welche für Darlehn Bürgschaft leisten.
27 If thou have not wherewith to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
Wenn du nicht hast, um zu bezahlen, warum soll er dein Bett unter dir wegnehmen?
28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
Verrücke nicht die alte Grenze, welche deine Väter gemacht haben.
29 See thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before obscure men.
Siehst du einen Mann, der gewandt ist in seinem Geschäft, vor Königen wird er stehen, er wird nicht vor Niedrigen stehen.
