Numbers 1
1 And Jehovah spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tent of meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they came out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the sons of Israel, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, every male, by their polls,
Faites le dénombrement de toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël, selon leurs familles, selon les maisons de leurs pères, en les comptant nom par nom, [savoir] tous les mâles, chacun par tête;
3 from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go forth to war in Israel. Thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.
Depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux d'Israël qui peuvent aller à la guerre, vous les compterez suivant leurs troupes, toi et Aaron.
4 And with you there shall be a man of every tribe, each one head of his fathers' house.
Et il y aura avec vous un homme de chaque Tribu, [savoir] celui qui [est] le chef de la maison de ses pères.
5 And these are the names of the men who shall stand with you. Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.
Et ce sont ici les noms de ces hommes qui vous assisteront. Pour la Tribu de Ruben, Elitsur fils de Sédéur.
6 Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
Pour celle de Siméon, Sélumiel, fils de Tsurisaddaï.
7 Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
Pour celle de Juda, Nahasson, fils de Hamminadab.
8 Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.
Pour celle d'Issacar, Nathanaël, fils de Tsuhar.
9 Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.
Pour celle de Zabulon, Eliab, fils de Hélon.
10 Of the sons of Joseph, of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud; of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
des enfants de Joseph, pour la Tribu d'Ephraïm, Elisamah, fils de Hammiud; pour celle de Manassé, Gamaliel fils de Pédatsur.
11 Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.
Pour la Tribu de Benjamin, Abidan, fils de Guidhoni.
12 Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
Pour celle de Dan, Ahihézer, fils de Hammisaddaï.
13 Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.
Pour celle d'Aser, Paghiel, fils de Hocran.
14 Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
Pour celle de Gad, Eliasaph, fils de Déhuël.
15 Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.
Pour celle de Nephthali, Ahirah, fils de Hénan.
16 These are those who were called from the congregation, the rulers of the tribes of their fathers. They were the heads of the thousands of Israel.
C'étaient là ceux qu'on appelait pour tenir l'assemblée; ils étaient les principaux des Tribus de leurs pères, chefs des milliers d'Israël.
17 And Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name,
Alors Moïse et Aaron prirent ces hommes-là qui avaient été nommés par leurs noms;
18 and they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month. And they declared their ancestry after their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.
Et ils convoquèrent toute l'assemblée, le premier jour du second mois, et on enregistra chacun selon leurs familles, [et] selon la maison de leurs pères, les enregistrant, nom par nom, depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, chacun par tête;
19 As Jehovah commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.
Comme l'Eternel l'avait commandé à Moïse, il les dénombra au désert de Sinaï.
20 And the sons of Reuben, Israel's firstborn, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go forth to war,
Les enfants donc de Ruben, premier-né d'Israël, selon leurs générations, leurs familles, et les maisons de leurs pères, dont on fit le dénombrement par leur nom, [et] par tête, [savoir] tous les mâles de l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
21 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand and five hundred.
Ceux, [dis-je], de la Tribu de Ruben, qui furent dénombrés, furent quarante-six mille cinq cents.
22 Of the sons of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, those who were numbered of it, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go forth to war,
Des enfants de Siméon, selon leurs générations, leurs familles, et les maisons de leurs pères, ceux qui furent dénombrés par leur nom et par tête, [savoir] tous les mâles de l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
23 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.
Ceux, [dis-je], de la Tribu de Siméon, qui furent dénombrés, furent cinquante-neuf mille trois cents.
24 Of the sons of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
Des enfants de Gad, selon leurs générations, leurs familles, et les maisons de leurs pères, dénombrés chacun par leur nom, depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
25 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.
Ceux, [ dis-je], de la Tribu de Gad, qui furent dénombrés, furent quarante-cinq mille six cent cinquante.
26 Of the sons of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
Des enfants de Juda, selon leurs générations, leurs familles, et les maisons de leurs pères, dénombrés chacun par leur nom, depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
27 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand and six hundred.
Ceux, [dis-je], de la Tribu de Juda, qui furent dénombrés, furent soixante et quatorze mille six cents.
28 Of the sons of Issachar, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
Des enfants d'Issacar, selon leurs générations, leurs familles, et les maisons de leurs pères, dénombrés chacun par leur nom, depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
29 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty-four thousand and four hundred.
Ceux, [dis-je], de la Tribu d'Issacar, qui furent dénombrés, furent cinquante-quatre mille quatre cents.
30 Of the sons of Zebulun, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
Des enfants de Zabulon, selon leurs générations, leurs familles, et les maisons de leurs pères, dénombrés chacun par leur nom, depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
31 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.
Ceux, [dis-je], de la Tribu de Zabulon, qui furent dénombrés, furent cinquante-sept mille quatre cents.
32 Of the sons of Joseph, namely, of the sons of Ephraim, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
Quant aux enfants de Joseph; les enfants d'Ephraïm, selon leurs générations, leurs familles, et les maisons de leurs pères, dénombrés chacun par leur nom, depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
33 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred;
Ceux, [dis-je], de la Tribu d'Ephraïm, qui furent dénombrés, furent quarante mille cinq cents.
34 of the sons of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
Des enfants de Manassé, selon leurs générations, leurs familles, et les maisons de leurs pères, dénombrés chacun par leur nom, depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
35 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand and two hundred.

36 Of the sons of Benjamin, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,

37 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty-five thousand and four hundred.

38 Of the sons of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
Des enfants de Dan, selon leurs générations, leurs familles, et les maisons de leurs pères, dénombrés chacun par leur nom, depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
39 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand and seven hundred.
Ceux, [dis-je], de la Tribu de Dan, qui furent dénombrés, furent soixante-deux mille sept cents.
40 Of the sons of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
Des enfants d'Aser, selon leurs générations, leurs familles, et les maisons de leurs pères, dénombrés chacun par leur nom, depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
41 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand and five hundred.
Ceux, [dis-je], de la Tribu d'Aser, qui furent dénombrés, furent quarante et un mille cinq cents.
42 Of the sons of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,
[Des] enfants de Nephthali, selon leurs générations, leurs familles, et les maisons de leurs pères, dénombrés chacun par leur nom, depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
43 those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand and four hundred.
Ceux, [dis-je], de la Tribu de Nephthali, qui furent dénombrés, furent cinquante-trois mille quatre cents.
44 These are those who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, and the rulers of Israel, being twelve men. They were each one for his fathers' house.
Ce sont là ceux dont Moïse et Aaron firent le dénombrement, les douze principaux [d'entre les enfants] d'Israël y étant, un pour chaque maison de leurs pères.
45 So all those who were numbered of the sons of Israel by their fathers' houses, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go forth to war in Israel,
Ainsi tous ceux des enfants d'Israël, dont on fit le dénombrement, selon les maisons de leurs pères, depuis l'âge de vingt ans, et au dessus, tous ceux d'entre les Israélites, qui pouvaient aller à la guerre;
46 even all those who were numbered were six hundred three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
Tous ceux, [dis-je], dont on fit le dénombrement, furent six cent trois mille cinq cent cinquante.
47 But the Levites according to the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.
Mais les Lévites ne furent point dénombrés avec eux, selon la Tribu de leurs pères.
48 For Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
Car l'Eternel avait parlé à Moïse, en disant:
49 Only the tribe of Levi thou shall not number, neither shall thou take the sum of them among the sons of Israel,
Tu ne feras aucun dénombrement de la Tribu de Lévi, et tu n'en lèveras point la somme avec les [autres] enfants d'Israël.
50 but appoint thou the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all the furniture of it, and over all that belongs to it. They shall bear the tabernacle, and all the furniture of it, and they shall minister to it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
Mais tu donneras aux Lévites la charge du pavillon du Témoignage, et de tous ses ustensiles, et de tout ce qui lui appartient; ils porteront le pavillon, et tous ses ustensiles; ils y serviront, et camperont autour du pavillon.
51 And when the tabernacle sets forward, the Levites shall take it down, and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up. And the stranger who comes near shall be put to death.
Et quand le pavillon partira, les Lévites le désassembleront, et quand le pavillon campera, ils le dresseront. Que si quelque étranger en approche, on le fera mourir.
52 And the sons of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their armies.
Or les enfants d'Israël camperont chacun en son quartier, et chacun sous son enseigne, selon leurs troupes.
53 But the Levites shall encamp round about the tabernacle of the testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the sons of Israel. And the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of the testimony.
Mais les Lévites camperont autour du pavillon du Témoignage, afin qu'il n'y ait point d'indignation sur l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël, et ils prendront en leur charge le pavillon du Témoignage.
54 Thus did the sons of Israel. According to all that Jehovah commanded Moses, so they did.
Et les enfants d'Israël firent selon toutes les choses que l'Eternel avait commandées à Moïse; ils le firent ainsi.
