Filippenzen 4
1 En daarom, mijn innig geliefde broeders, mijn vreugde en mijn kroon: geliefden, staat vast in den Heer!
Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, so stand firm in the Lord, my beloved.
2 Evódia vermaan ik, en Suntuche ook, om eensgezind te zijn in den Heer.
I appeal to Euodia and I appeal to Syntyche to agree in the Lord.
3 En u, trouwe Sunzuchus verzoek ik dringend, beiden daarbij behulpzaam te zijn. Want ze hebben me bijgestaan in de strijd voor het Evangelie; zij en Clemens en mijn andere medewerkers, wier namen in het boek des levens staan.
Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, for they labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.
4 Verblijdt u altijd in den Heer; ik herhaal het: Verblijdt u!
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, Rejoice.
5 Laat alle mensen uw minzaamheid zien. De Heer is nabij;
Let your gentleness be evident to all people. The Lord is near.
6 maakt u over niets bezorgd, doch maakt aan God al uw wensen bekend door bidden en smeken en danken.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
7 En de vrede Gods, die alle begrip te boven gaat, zal uw harten en zinnen bewaren in Christus Jesus.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Messiah Jesus.
8 Ten slotte, broeders, houdt uw aandacht gevestigd op al wat waar, op al wat edel, rechtvaardig, rein, liefelijk en welgevallig is, op al wat deugd heet en lof verdient.
Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think on these things.
9 Handelt naar wat gij geleerd en aanvaard hebt, naar wat gij van mij hebt gehoord en gezien. En de God van de vrede zal met u zijn.
And the things you learned and received and heard and saw in me, do these things. And the God of peace will be with you.
10 Het was me een grote vreugde in den Heer, dat gij weer eens gelegenheid hadt, om voor mij te zorgen. Wel zijt gij er bedacht op gebleven, maar gij hadt er geen gelegenheid toe.
Now I rejoice in the Lord greatly that at last you have revived your concern for me; in which you were indeed concerned, but you lacked opportunity.
11 Ik zeg dit niet, omdat ik gebrek heb geleden. Want ik heb geleerd, tevreden te zijn met wat ik heb.
I'm not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content in any circumstance.
12 Ik weet armoede te lijden en in overvloed te leven; met alles ben ik in alle omstandigheden vertrouwd: met verzadigd zijn en honger lijden, met overvloed en met gebrek.
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret, whether full or hungry, whether having a lot or being in need.
13 Tot alles ben ik in staat door Hem, die mij sterkt.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
14 Toch hebt gij goed gedaan, met me bij te staan in mijn nood.
Still, you have done well to share my hardship.
15 Gij weet zelf toch wel, Filippenzen, dat bij mijn vertrek uit Macedónië in het begin van mijn prediking, geen enkele kerk, dan gij alleen, met mij een rekening had van uitgave en ontvangst,
And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you only.
16 en dat gij tot tweemaal toe mij ook in Tessalonika iets voor eigen gebruik hebt gezonden.
For even in Thessalonica you sent me aid twice.
17 Zeker, het is me niet om de gave te doen, maar het is me te doen om de rente, die rijkelijk op uw rekening wordt geboekt.
Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your account.
18 Maar nu heb ik het hele bedrag gekregen, en zelfs meer dan dat. Ik bezit volop, sinds ik door Epafroditus uw gift heb ontvangen: een welriekende geur, een aangenaam, Gode welgevallig offer.
But I have received everything in full, and I have an abundance. I am fully supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the things that came from you, a sweet-smelling fragrance, an acceptable and well-pleasing sacrifice to God.
19 Mijn God zal dan ook in Christus Jesus in al uw behoeften voorzien naar zijn rijkdom en door zijn heerlijkheid.
And my God will supply all your needs according to his glorious riches in Messiah Jesus.
Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
21 Groet alle heiligen in Christus Jesus. U groeten de broeders, die bij me zijn.
Greet every saint in Messiah Jesus. The brothers who are with me greet you.
22 Alle heiligen groeten u, vooral die tot het huis van Cesar behoren.
All the saints greet you, especially those who are of Caesar's household.
23 De genade van den Heer Jesus Christus zij met uw geest.
The grace of the Lord Jesus (the) Messiah be with your spirit.
