Numeri 35

1 Nog sprak Jahweh tot Moses in de velden van Moab aan de Jordaan bij Jericho:

And he spoke Yahweh to Moses in [the] plains of Moab at [the] Jordan of Jericho saying.

2 Beveel de Israëlieten, dat zij van hun erfbezit steden aan de Levieten geven, om daar te wonen, en dat zij ook de weidegronden rond die steden aan de Levieten afstaan.

Command [the] people of Israel and they will give to the Levites some of [the] inheritance of possession their cities to dwell in and pasture land for the cities around them you will give to the Levites.

3 Die steden zullen hun tot woonplaats dienen en de weidegronden zullen voor hun kudde, hun lastdieren en al hun vee zijn bestemd.

And they will belong the cities to them to dwell in and pasture lands their they will be for cattle their and for property their and for every animal their.

4 De weidegronden van de steden, die gij aan de Levieten zult geven, moeten aan alle kanten van de stadsmuur af tot de buitenste rand duizend el breed zijn.

And [the] pasture lands of the cities which you will give to the Levites [will be] from [the] wall of the city and [the] outside towards one thousand cubit[s] all around.

5 Gij moet buiten de stad de oostgrens op twee duizend ellen uitmeten, de zuidgrens op twee duizend ellen, de westgrens op twee duizend ellen en de noordgrens op twee duizend ellen met de stad als middelpunt; dit zullen hun weidegronden zijn, die bij de steden horen.

And you will measure from [the] outside of the city [the] side of east-ward two thousand by the cubit and [the] side of [the] south two thousand by the cubit and [the] side of [the] west - two thousand by the cubit and [the] side of [the] north two thousand by the cubit and the city [will be] in the middle this it will belong to them [the] pasture lands of the cities.

6 De steden, die gij aan de Levieten moet afstaan, zullen vooreerst de zes vrijsteden zijn, die gij als vluchtplaats moet aanwijzen voor hem, die iemand heeft gedood; en daarenboven moet ge hun nog twee en veertig andere steden afstaan.

And the cities which you will give to the Levites [the] six [the] cities of refuge which you will give to flee there towards the killer and to them you will give forty and two citi[es].

7 In het geheel moet ge dus acht en veertig steden met hun weidegronden aan de Levieten afstaan.

All the cities which you will give to the Levites [will be] forty and eight citi[es] them and pasture lands their.

8 Deze steden, die ge van het bezit der Israëlieten zult afnemen, moeten in een grote stam talrijker en in een kleine stam minder talrijk zijn; ieder moet naar verhouding van zijn bezit, dat hij kreeg, enige steden aan de Levieten afstaan.

And the cities which you will give from [the] possession of [the] people of Israel from with the many you will increase and from with the few you will decrease each one according to [the] mouth of inheritance its which they will inherit it will give some of cities its to the Levites.

9 Jahweh sprak tot Moses:

And he spoke Yahweh to Moses saying.

10 Beveel de Israëlieten, en zeg hun: Wanneer gij over de Jordaan het land Kanaän zijt binnengetrokken,

Speak to [the] people of Israel and you will say to them if you [are] about to pass over the Jordan [the] land of towards Canaan.

11 dan moet gij enige steden aanwijzen, die u als vrijsteden zullen dienen, waarheen iemand vluchten kan, die een ander zonder opzet heeft gedood.

And you will make happen to yourselves cities cities of refuge they will be for you and he will flee there towards a killer [who] has struck down a person by inadvertence.

12 Naar die steden zult ge de wijk kunnen nemen voor den bloedwreker, zodat hij, die een ander gedood heeft, niet zal sterven, eer hij voor de gemeenschap terecht heeft gestaan.

And they will become for you the cities a refuge from an avenger and not he will die the killer until stands he before the congregation for judgment.

13 Gij moet zes van zulke steden, die tot vrijsteden voor u zijn bestemd, aanwijzen:

And the cities which you will give six cities of refuge they will be for you.

14 drie steden in het Overjordaanse, en drie steden in het land Kanaän: dat zullen de vrijsteden zijn.

- three Cities you will give from [the] other side of the Jordan and three cities you will give in [the] land of Canaan cities of refuge they will be.

15 Zowel voor de Israëlieten als voor den vreemdeling en den inboorling in uw midden, zullen die zes steden als wijkplaats dienen, zodat ieder, die zonder opzet een mens heeft gedood, daarheen kan vluchten.

For [the] people of Israel and for the sojourner and for the resident alien in midst of them they will become [the] six the cities these a refuge to flee there towards any [one who] strikes down a person by inadvertence.

16 Wanneer iemand een ander met een ijzeren voorwerp zo slaat, dat hij sterft, dan is hij een moordenaar; de moordenaar moet ter dood worden gebracht.

And if with an instrument of iron - he struck down him and he died [is] a killer he certainly he will be put to death the killer.

17 Heeft hij een steen in zijn hand, waarmee men iemand dodelijk kan treffen, en slaat hij hem zo dat hij sterft, dan is hij een moordenaar; de moordenaar moet ter dood worden gebracht.

And if with a stone of hand which someone will die by it he struck down him and he died [is] a killer he certainly he will be put to death the killer.

18 Of heeft hij een houten voorwerp in zijn hand, waarmee men iemand dodelijk kan treffen, en slaat hij hem zo, dat hij sterft, dan is hij een moordenaar; de moordenaar moet ter dood worden gebracht.

Or with an instrument of wood of hand which someone will die by it he struck down him and he died [is] a killer he certainly he will be put to death the killer.

19 Dan mag de bloedwreker den moordenaar doden, waar hij hem aantreft.

[the] avenger of Blood he he will put to death the killer when meets he him he he will put to death him.

20 Wanneer iemand een ander uit haat een stoot toebrengt, of uit moordzucht naar hem gooit, zodat hij sterft,

And if in hatred he will push him or he threw on him with lying in wait and he died.

21 of uit vijandschap hem zo met de vuist slaat, dat hij sterft, dan is hij ook een moordenaar, en moet ter dood worden gebracht; de bloedwreker mag den moordenaar doden, waar hij hem aantreft.

Or in enmity he struck down him with hand his and he died certainly he will be put to death the [one who] struck [is] a killer he [the] avenger of blood he will put to death the killer when meets he him.

22 Maar wanneer hij hem zonder voorbedachte rade en zonder vijandschap een stoot toebrengt, of zonder opzet om te doden een of ander ding naar hem gooit,

And if in an instant with not enmity he pushed him or he threw on him any weapon with not lying in wait.

23 of uit onoplettendheid een steen, waarmee men iemand dodelijk kan treffen, op hem laat vallen, zodat hij sterft; dus zonder hem vijandig gezind te zijn en zonder hem kwaad te willen,

Or with any stone which someone will die by it with not seeing [him] and he made [it] fall on him and he died and he not [was] an enemy of him and not [was] seeking harm his.

24 dan zal de gemeenschap tussen hem, die de dood heeft toegebracht en den bloedwreker recht spreken naar de volgende bepalingen.

And they will judge the congregation between the [one who] struck and between [the] avenger of blood on the judgments these.

25 De gemeenschap moet hem, die de dood heeft veroorzaakt, tegen den bloedwreker beschermen, en hem doen terugkeren naar de vrijstad, waarheen hij gevlucht was, en waar hij moet blijven wonen tot aan de dood van den hogepriester, dien men met de heilige olie heeft gezalfd.

And they will deliver the congregation the killer from [the] hand of [the] avenger of blood and they will return him the congregation to [the] city of refuge his where he had fled there towards and he will dwell in it until [the] death of the priest great whom someone had anointed him with [the] oil of holiness.

26 Zo hij buiten de grens van de vrijstad komt, waarheen hij gevlucht is,

And if ever he will go out the killer [the] border of [the] city of refuge his where he will flee there towards.

27 en de bloedwreker vindt hem buiten de grens van zijn vrijstad en doodt hem, dan treft den bloedwreker geen bloedschuld;

And he will find him [the] avenger of blood from [the] outside of [the] border of [the] city of refuge his and he will kill [the] avenger of blood the killer not [will belong] to him blood.

28 want de ander had tot aan de dood van den hogepriester in zijn vrijstad moeten blijven. Eerst na de dood van den hogepriester kan hij, die gedood heeft, naar zijn grondbezit terugkeren.

For in [the] city of refuge his he will remain until [the] death of the priest great and after [the] death of the priest great he will return the killer to [the] land of possession his.

29 Deze rechtsbepalingen zullen voor u blijven gelden van geslacht tot geslacht, overal waar gij woont.

And they will become these [things] for you a statute of judgment to generations your in all dwelling places your.

30 Wanneer iemand een mens heeft vermoord, dan zal men den moordenaar op het woord van getuigen ter dood brengen; maar één getuige zal niet voldoende zijn, om een mens te doen sterven.

Any [one who] strikes down a person to [the] mouth of witnesses someone will kill the killer and a witness one not he will testify against anyone to die.

31 Gij moogt voor het leven van een moordenaar, die des doods schuldig is, geen losgeld aannemen; want hij moet ter dood worden gebracht.

And not you will take a ransom for [the] life of a killer who he [is] guilty to die for certainly he will be put to death.

32 Evenmin moogt gij voor iemand, die naar een vrijstad gevlucht is, losgeld aannemen, om vóór de dood van den hogepriester terug te keren en zijn land te bewonen.

And not you will take a ransom to flee to [the] city of refuge his to return to dwell in the land until [the] death of the priest.

33 Neen, gij moogt het land, waar gij woont, niet ontwijden! Want bloed ontwijdt het land; en voor het land, waarop bloed is vergoten, kan geen verzoening worden verkregen, dan door het bloed van hem, die het vergoten heeft.

And not you will pollute the land which you [are] in it for blood it it pollutes the land and for the land not it will be atoned to the blood which it was shed in it that except by [the] blood of [the] [one who] shed it.

34 Bezoedelt dus het land niet, waar gij woont, en waarin ook Ik woon; want Ik, Jahweh, woon te midden van Israëls kinderen.

And not you will make unclean the land which you [are] dwelling in it which I [am] dwelling in [the] midst of it for I Yahweh [am] dwelling in among [the] people of Israel.
