1 Lino mulayo mazuba, kwakasika akuti oyo siza Agasitasi wakatamuna mulumbe kulayilila kuti kubalwa kwachitwe kwabantu boonse bapona munyika.
About that time an edict was issued by the Emperor Augustus that a census should be taken of the whole Empire.
2 Oku kwakali kubalwa kutanzi kwakachitwa chiindi kkwiniliyasi nakali mwendelezyi wa Siliya.
(This was the first census taken while Quirinius was Governor of Syria).
3 Aboobo muntu woonse wakiinka kudolopo lyakwe kuti akalembesye kubalwa
And everyone went to his own town to be registered.
4 Josefa alakwe wakinka atala kuzwa ku Galile, kuzwa kudolopo lya Nazaleta, kuya kuJudiy, kuya kudolopo lyaDavida, oyo utegwa Betelehema, nkaambo wakali wang'anda a lunyungu lwaDavida.

when an angel of the Lord suddenly stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were seized with fear.
10 Mpawo mungelo wakamba wakati, “Mutayowinkambo ndamwetela makani mabotu ayo atazo yete kukondwa kupati kubantu boonse.
“Have no fear,” the angel said. “For I bring you good news of a great joy in store for all the nation.
11 Sunu mufuli wazyalilwa ndinywe mudolopo lyaDavida nguKKilisto mwami!
This day there has been born to you, in the town of David, a Savior, who is Christ and Lord.
12 Echi nchichitondezyo chitakapegwe kuli ndinywe. Mulojana mwana kaputilidwe mulembo likasalaalimwi kalede luchaata.”
And this will be the sign for you. You will find the infant swathed, and lying in a manger.”
13 Mpawo mpawo kwakaliwo antomwe abangelo biingi loko bazwa kujulu, kulumbaizya Leza alimwi kabati,
Then suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly Host, praising God, and singing –
14 “Bulemu kuli Leza usumpukide, alimwi ngakube luumuno munyika akati kabantu amwi amoyo ngwaboteledwe.” Amwi malembo achiindi achi Greeki alakupeleta kusiyenesiyene oko kubona kwaamba kwamabala abili akonzya kwaamba zilikumamanino amabala mache a muchala 14, yabili nkili njiyandisigwa. “glory to God on high, and on earth peace among those in whom he finds pleasure.”
15 Kwakaba kuti awo bangelo kabali bayinka kuzwa alimbabo kuya kujulu, bembeli bakati kuli umwi awumwi, “ngatwiinke lino ku Betelehema alimwi tukabone echi chintu chachitika, echo Mwami nchatuyubnwida.
Now, when the angels had left them and gone back to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go at once to Bethlehem, and see this thing that has happened, of which the Lord has told us.”
16 Bakafwambanina nkuko alumwi bakujana Malia, Josefa, amwana oyo wakalede muchata
So they went quickly, and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in a manger;
17 Kuzwawo abo nibakabamubona, bakazibisya ezyo zimbakali babuzigwa bo atala amwana.
and, when they saw it, they told of all that had been said to them about this child.
18 Boonse abo bakamvwa bakagamba kuli zezyo zyakambwa abembeli.
All who heard the shepherds were astonished at their story,
19 Pesi Maliya wakali kuyeya a makani ngakali wamvwa, wakalondolawo mumoyo wakwe.
while Mary treasured in her heart all that they said, and thought about it often.
20 Bembeli bakabweda kabalumbaizya akutembawula Leza kuli zyoonse ezyo zibakamvwa akubona, mbuli mbubaka mbilwa.
And the shepherds went back, giving glory and praise to God for all that they had heard and seen. It had all happened as they had been told.
21 Elyo kwakiinda mazuba masanu aatatu, elyo nakabalulwa, wakuzikwa wategwa Jsu, izina ndyakapedwe amungelo musule katana mintwa mwida
Eight days after the birth of the child, when it was time to circumcise him, he received the name Jesus – the name given him by the angel before his conception.
22 Elyo ilangililwa mweelwe yamazuba akulisalazya kwabo nakiinda, mbuli mumulawo waMozesi, bo bakamweta kuchikombelo kuJelusalema kulomupeda kumwaami.
When the period of purification of mother and child, required by the Law of Moses, came to an end, his parents took the child up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord,
23 Mbuli mbukulembedwe mumulawu wamwami, “woonse mwana mulombe ujula ida ulo bikkwa kumbali kuMwami.”
in compliance with the Law of the Lord that every firstborn male will be dedicated to the Lord,
24 Abobo bakapa chipaizyo mbuli ezyo zyakambidwe mumulawu wamwana, “inziba zibili nabana bankuilimba.
and also to offer the sacrifice required by the Law of the Lord – a pair of turtle-doves or two young pigeons.
25 Amubone kwakali mwalumi muJelusalema ula zina litegwa Simiyoni, alumwi oyo mwalumi wakali luleme a kulipeda. Wakali kalangilila kumbilizigwa kwabaIzilayeli, alubo muuya usalala wakala tala anguwe.
There was at that time in Jerusalem a man named Simeon, a righteous and devout man, who lived in constant expectation of Israel’s consulation, and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
26 Zyakali zyayubununwa kuli nguwe amuya usalala kutitakozobona lufu katanakubona uNanikidwewaMwami.
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not die until he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
27 Kazulwidwa aMuuya, Simiyoni waka sika muchikombelo. Elyo bazyali bakanjizya mukati mwana Jeso, kulo muchitila mbuli chiyanza chabo chamulawo.
Moved by the Spirit, Simeon came into the Temple Courts, and, when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the Law,
28 Wakamubweza mumaboko aakwe alimwi walumbaizya Leza, alimwi wakati,
Simeon himself took the child in his arms, and blessed God, and said:
29 “Lino leka mulandawako ayiinde mulumuno, mwami, mbuli ijwi lyako.
“Now, Lord, you will let your servant go, according to your word, in peace,
30 Nkaambo menso angu abona lufutuko lwako,
for my eyes have seen the salvation
31 olo mbwakambilwa abuliwo bwabantu boonse.
which you have prepared in the sight of all nations –
32 “Mumuni wachiyubunuzyo kuli bamasi alimwi bulemu kubantu bako izilayeli.”
a light to bring light to the Gentiles, and to be the glory of your people Israel.”
33 Wisi abanyina, bakagambilwa aatala azintu zyakalikwaambulwa aatala amwana wabo.
While the child’s father and mother were wondering at what was said about him,
34 Simiyoni wakabalongezya mpawo wakati kuli banyina, “Amulange mwana ooyu ulisalidwe kuti kube kuwa akusumpulwa kwabamwi bantu biingi muli Izirayeli achitondeezyo chikakidwe -
Simeon gave them his blessing, and said to Mary, the child’s mother, “This child is appointed to be the cause of the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign much spoken against –
35 alimwi ipanga liyoyasa muuya wako - kuchitila kuti myoyo myiingi ikayubununwe.”
Yes, the sword will pierce your own heart – and so the thoughts in many minds will be disclosed.”
36 Musinsimi mwanakazi uutegwa Ana wakaliwo. Wakali mwana musimbi waFanuwelo kuzwa kumukowa wa Asha. Wakali wapona amulumi wakwe minyaka ili musanu ayibili kuzwa kubusimbi bwakwe.
There was also a prophet named Hannah, a daughter of Phanuel and of the tribe of Asher. She was far advanced in years, having lived with her husband for seven years after marriage,
37 Alimwi wakali mukamufu kwamwinyaka ili makumi musanu aatatu atune. Takwe nakazwide muchikombelo pesi wakali kubelekela kulyimya a kukomba mansiku, asikati.
and then a widow, until she had reached the age of eighty-four. She never left the Temple Courts, but, fasting and praying, worshiped God night and day.
38 Kuli ndilelyo wola wakaswena afwifwi kuli mbabo almwi wakatalika kupa kulumba kuli Leza, alimwi wakambula alubo aatala amwana kubantu boonse abo bakali kulindila kufutulwa kwaJelusalema.
At that moment she came up, and began publicly to thank God and to speak about the child to all who were looking for the deliverance of Jerusalem.
39 Eelyo aabo boonse nibakamanisya nzibakeelede kuchitambuli mulawo wamwami, bakabweeda ku Galilii, kudolopo lyabo lya Nazaleta.
When the child’s parents had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.
40 Mwana wakakomena alimwi wakasima, kuyungizya mubusongo, alimwi luzyalo lwaleza lwakali aanguwe
The child grew and became strong and wise, and the blessing of God was on him.
41 Bazyali bakwe bakali kwiinka munyaka umwi awumwi ku Jelusalema kupobwe lya kwindilila.
Every year the child’s parents used to go to Jerusalem at the Passover Festival.
42 Awo nakaba aminyaka kkumi ayibili, bakabweda lubo mbuli chiindi chachiyanza chabo kupobwe.
When Jesus was twelve years old, they went according to custom to Jerusalem,
43 Nibakakkala mazuba azulide aa pobwe, bakabweda kumunzi. Pesi mulombe Jeso wakasyala ku Jelusalema alimwi bazyali bakwe tebakazipe.
and had finished their visit; but, when they started to return, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, without their knowing it.
44 Bakayelela kuti wakali akabunga ako nkibakayobwenda aako, mpawo bo bakenda musinzo wazuba limwi. Mpawo bakasanguna kumulangula akati kanzubo zyabo abeenzinyina.
Thinking that he was with their fellow travelers, they went one day’s journey before searching for him among their relatives and acquaintances;
45 Eelyo nibakamubula, bakabweda ku Jelusalema alimwi bakatalika kumuyandula nkuko.
and then, as they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching everywhere for him.
46 Zyakachitika kuti musule lyamazuba aatatu bakasanguna kumuyandula mung'anda ya Leza, kakkede akati kabayisyi, kalokubaswilizya akubabuzya mibuzyo.
It was not until the third day that they found him in the Temple Courts, sitting among the teachers, now listening to them, now asking them questions.
47 Boonse bakamumvwa bakagamba kukumvwisisisya kwakwe akunsandulo zyakwe
All who listened to him marveled at his intelligence and his answers.
48 Elyo nibakamubona bakakankabala. Banyina bakati kulinguwe, “Mwanaangu, nkambonzi nwatujata enzila eyi? Langa, wuso andime twalikukuyandula achakutankalinkana.”
His parents were amazed when they saw him, and his mother said to him, “My child, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.”
49 Wakati kulimbabo, “Nkambonzi nimwalikundiyandula? Temwazi na kuti ndeelede kuba mungánda yandeende?”
“What made you search for me?” he answered. “Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
50 Pesi bo tebakamvwisisya nzyakalikwamba awayo majwi.
His parents did not understand what he meant.
51 Elyo wakabweda kumunzi kulimbabo kuNazaleta alimwi wakali kulibombya kuli mbabo. Banyina bakalondola zyoonse ezi mumoyo wabo.
However he went down with them to Nazareth, and submitted himself to their control; and his mother treasured all that was said in her heart.
52 Pesi Jeso wakaya kunembo akukomena mubusongo a muchiimo, alimwi wakayungizya kuluzyalo kuli Leza aku bantu
And Jesus grew in wisdom as he grew in years, and gained the blessing of God and people.
