Salme 112

1 Halleluja! Salig er den, der frygter Herren og ret har lyst til hans bud!

Hallelujah. Happy is the man that feareth the Lord, that greatly delighteth in his commandments.

2 Hans Æt bliver mægtig på Jord, den oprigtiges Slægt velsignes;

His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

3 Velstand og Rigdom er i hans Hus, hans Retfærdighed varer evindelig.

Plenty and riches shall be in his house, and his righteousness shall endure for ever.

4 For den oprigtige oprinder Lys i Mørke; han er mild, barmhjertig retfærdig.

There ariseth in the darkness a light to the upright: he is gracious, and merciful, and righteous.

5 Salig den, der ynkes og låner ud og styrer sine Sager med Ret;

Well will it be with the man who is kind, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with justice.

6 thi han rokkes aldrig i Evighed, den retfærdige ihukommes for evigt;

Surely unto eternity shall he not be moved: in everlasting remembrance shall the righteous be held.

7 han frygter ikke for onde Tidender, hans Hjerte er trøstigt i Tillid, til HERREN;

Of an evil report shall he not be afraid: his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.

8 fast er hans Hjerte og uden Frygt, indtil han skuer sine Fjender med Fryd;

Well supported is his heart, he shall not be afraid, until he looketh on [the punishment of] his assailants.

9 til fattige deler han rundhåndet ud, hans Retfærdighed varer evindelig; med Ære løfter hans Horn sig.

He distributeth, he giveth to the needy: his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted in honor.

10 Den gudløse ser det og græmmer sig, skærer Tænder og går til Grunde; de gudløses Attrå bliver til intet.

The wicked shall see it, and be vexed; he will gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the longing of the wicked shall perish.
