2 Mosebog 17
1 Så brød hele Israels Menighed op fra Sins Ørken og drog fra Lejrplads til Lejrplads efter HERRENs Bud. Men da de lejrede sig i Refidim, havde Folket intet Vand at drikke.
And all the assembly of the sons of Israel set forward out of the desert of Sin, by their removings, at the bidding of Yahweh, —and encamped in Rephidim, and there was no water for the people to drink.
2 Da kivedes Folket med Moses og sagde: "Skaf os Vand at drikke!" Men Moses svarede dem: "Hvorfor kives I med mig, hvorfor frister I HERREN?"
And the people found fault with Moses, and said—Give us water, that we may drink. And Moses said to them, Why should ye find fault with me? Why should ye put Yahweh to the proof?
3 Og Folket tørstede der efter Vand og knurrede mod Moses og sagde: "Hvorfor har du ført os op fra Ægypten? Mon for at lade os og vore Børn og vore Hjorde dø af Tørst?"
So the people thirsted, there for water, and the people murmured against Moses, —and said—Wherefore is it that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill me and my sons and my cattle, with thirst?
4 Da råbte Moses til HERREN: "Hvad skal jeg gøre med dette Folk? Det er ikke langt fra, at de vil stene mig."
And Moses made outcry unto Yahweh saying, What am I to do, with this people? Yet a little, and they will stone me.
5 Men HERREN sagde til Moses: "Træd frem for Folket med nogle af Israels Ældste og tag den Stav, du slog Nilen med, i din Hånd og kom så!
Then said Yahweh unto Moses—Pass over before the people, and take with thee some of the elders of Israel, —thy staff also wherewith thou didst smite the river, take thou in thy hand, so shalt thou go thy way.
6 Se, jeg vil stå foran dig der på Klippen ved Horeb, og når du slår på Klippen, skal der strømme Vand ud af den, så Folket kan få noget at drikke." Det gjorde Moses så i Påsyn af Israels Ældste.
Behold me! standing before thee, there upon the rock in Horeb, then shalt thou smite the rock and there shall come forth therefrom water, and the people shall drink. And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7 Og han kaldte dette Sted Massa og Meriba, fordi Israeliterne der havde kivedes og fristet HERREN ved at sige: "Er HERREN iblandt os eller ej?"
So he called the name of the place, Massah, and Meribah, —because of the fault-finding of the sons of Israel, and because of their putting Yahweh to the proof, saying, Is Yahweh in our midst or is he not?
8 Derefter kom Amalekiterne og angreb Israel i Refdim.
Then came in Amalek, —and fought with Israel, in Rephidim.
9 Da sagde Moses til Josua: "Udvælg dig Mænd og ryk i. Morgen ud til Kamp mod Amalekiterne; jeg vil stille mig på Toppen af Højen med Guds Stav i Hånden!"
And Moses said unto Joshua—Choose for us men, and go forth, fight with Amalek, —to-morrow, am, I, stationing myself upon the top of the hill, with the staff of God in my hand.
10 Josua gjorde, som Moses bød, og rykkede ud til Kamp mod Amalekiterne. Men Moses, Aron og Hur gik op på Toppen af Højen.
So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, to fight with Amalek, —and Moses, Aaron and Hur, went up to the top of the hill.
11 Når nu Moses løftede Hænderne i Vejret, fik Israeliterne Overtaget, men når han lod Hænderne synke, fik Amalekiterne Overtaget.
And it shall be when Moses shall lift on high his hands, then shall Israel prevail, but when he shall let down his hands, then shall Amalek prevail.
12 Og da Moses's Hænder blev trætte, tog de en Sten og lagde under ham; så satte han sig på den, og Aron og Hur støttede hans Hænder, hver på sin Side; således var hans Hænder stadig løftede til Solen gik ned,
But, the hands of Moses, were weary, so they took a stone, and put under him, and he sat thereupon, —and, Aaron and Hur, upheld his hands—on this side, one and on that side, one, and so his hands became steady, until the going in of the sun.
13 og Josua huggede Amalekiterne og deres Krigsfolk ned med Sværdet.
So Joshua overthrew Amalek and his people, with the edge of the sword.
14 Da sagde HERREN til Moses: "Optegn dette i en Bog, for at det kan mindes, og indskærp Josua, at jeg fuldstændig vil udslette Amalekiternes Minde under Himmelen!"
Then said Yahweh unto Moses—Write this as a remembrancer in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua—that I will, wipe out, the remembrance of Amalek, from under the heavens.
15 Derpå byggede Moses et Alter og kaldte det: "HERREN er mit Banner!"
And Moses built an altar, —and called the name thereof, Yahweh-nissi.
16 Og han sagde: "Der er en udrakt Hånd på HERRENs Trone! HERREN har Krig med Amalek fra Slægt til Slægt!"
And he said—Because of a hand against the throne of Yah, Yahweh hath war with Amalek, —from generation to generation!
