5 Mosebog 3

1 Derpå brød vi op og drog mod Basan. Og Kong Og af Basan rykkede med alle sine Krigere ud imod os til Kamp ved Edrei.

Then turned we and went up, the way of Bashan; and Og king of Bashan, came out to meet us, he, and all his people, to give battle at Edrei.

2 Da sagde HERREN til mig: "Frygt ikke for ham, thi jeg giver ham i din Hånd tillige med hele hans Folk og Land, og du skal gøre ved ham, som du gjorde ved Sihon, Amoriterkongen i Hesjbon."

And Yahweh said unto me: Do not fear him, for into thy hand, have I delivered him and all his people and his land, —so then thou shalt do unto him, as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites who was dwelling in Heshbon.

3 Så gav HERREN vor Gud også kong Og af Basan og alle hans Krigere i vor Hånd, og vi slog ham, så ikke en eneste undslap.

Then did Yahweh our God deliver into our hand, Og also, king of Bashan and all his people, —so we smote him until there was not left remaining to him a survivor.

4 Vi indtog dengang alle hans Byer; der var ikke een By, vi ikke fratog dem, i alt tresindstyve Byer, hele Landskabet Argob, Ogs Kongerige i Basan,

And we captured all his cities, at that time, there was no fortress which we took not from them, —sixty cities all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

5 lutter Byer, der var befæstet med høje Mure, Porte og Portslåer, foruden de mange åbne Byer;

All these, were fortified cities each with a high wall, folding gates and a bar, —besides country towns exceeding many.

6 og vi lagde Band på dem, ligesom vi havde gjort ved Kong Sihon i Hesjbon, i enhver By lagde vi Band på Mænd, Kvinder og Børn;

And we devoted them to destruction, doing unto them as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, —devoting to destruction every city of males, the women, and the little ones.

7 men alt Kvæget, og hvad vi røvede fra Byerne, tog vi selv som Bytte.

But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, made we our prey.

8 Således erobrede vi dengang Landet fra de to Amoriterkonger hinsides Jordan fra Arnonfloden til Hermonbjerget

Thus did we at that time take the land out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites (which was over the Jordan), —from the ravine of Arnon as far as Mount Hermon.

9 Zidonierne kalder Hermon Sirjon, men Amoriterne kalder det Senir

Sidonians, call Hermon Sirion, —but, the Amorites, call it Senir.

10 alle Byerne på Højsletten, hele Gilead og hele Basan lige til Salka og Edrei, Byer i kong Ogs Rige i Basan.

All the cities of the table-land, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, —unto Salecah, and Edrei, —cities of the kingdom of Og, in Bashan.

11 Thi Kong Og af Basan var den eneste, der endnu var tilbage af Refaiterne; hans Kiste, en Jernkiste, står jo endnu i Rabba i Ammon, ni Alen lang og fire Alen bred efter vanligt Mål.

For, only Og, king of Bashan was left remaining of the remnant of the giants, lo! his bedstead, was a bedstead of iron, is not, the same, in Rabbath of the sons of Ammon? nine cubits, the length thereof and four cubits, the breadth thereof, by the fore-arm of a man.

12 Således tog vi dengang dette Land i Besiddelse. Landet fra Aroer, der ligger ved Arnonfloden, og Halvdelen af Gileads Bjerge med Byerne der gav jeg Rubeniterne og Gaditerne;

And this land, took we in possession at that time, —from Aroer which is by the ravine of Arnon, and half the hill-country of Gilead and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites;

13 men Resten af Gilead og hele Basan, Ogs Rige, gav jeg til Manasses halve Stamme, hele Landskabet Argob. (Det er hele dette Basan, man kalder Refaiterland.)

but the remainder of Gilead, and all Bashan the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh, —all the region of the Argob with all Bashan. The same, is called, A land of giants.

14 Manasses Søn Jair erobrede hele Landskabet Argob indtil Gesjuriternes og Ma'akatiternes Egne og kaldte dem Ja'irs Teltbyer efter sig selv, som de hedder endnu den Dag i Dag.

Jair, son of Manasseh, took all the region of Argob, as far as the boundary of the Geshurites, and the Maachathites, —and called them after his own name The Bashan of Havvoth-jair unto this day.

15 Og Makir gav jeg Gilead;

And, unto Machir, gave I Gilead;

16 og Rubeniterne og Gaditerne gav jeg Landet fra Gilead til Arnonfloden med Dalens Midtlinie som Grænse og til Jabbokfloden, Ammoniternes Grænse,

And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites, gave I—from Gilead even as far as the ravine of Arnon, the middle of the ravine and boundary, —even as far as the Jabbok ravine, the boundary of the sons of Ammon;

17 og Arabalavningen med Jordan som Grænse fra Kinneret til Arabaeller Salthavet ved Foden af Pisgas Skrænter mod Øst.

the Waste Plain also and the Jordan and boundary, —from Chinnereth, even as far as the sea of the Waste Plain the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah, on the east.

18 Dengang gav jeg eder følgende Påbud: "HERREN eders Gud har givet eder dette Land i Eje; men I skal, så mange krigsdygtige Mænd I er, drage væbnede i Spidsen for eders Brødre Israelitterne

So I commanded you, at that time saying, —Yahweh your God hath given unto you this land to possess it, armed, shall ye pass over before your brethren the sons of Israel all the sons of valour,

19 kun eders Kvinder, Børn og Kvæg (jeg ved, at I har meget Kvæg) skal blive tilbage i de Byer, jeg giver eder

Only, your wives and your little ones and your cattle—I know that ye have much cattle—shall abide in your cities which I have given unto you;

20 indtil HERREN bringer eders Brødre til Hvile ligesom eder, og de også får taget det Land i Besiddelse, som HERREN eders Gud vil give dem hinsides Jordan; så kan enhver af eder vende tilbage til den Ejendom, jeg har givet eder!"

until that Yahweh shall give rest unto your brethren, as well as you, so shall, they too, possess the land which, Yahweh your God, is giving unto them, over the Jordan, —then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given unto you.

21 Og Josua gav jeg dengang følgende Påbud: "Du har med egne Øjne set alt, hvad HERREN eders Gud har gjort ved disse to Konger; således vil HERREN også gøre ved alle de Riger, du drager over til.

Joshua also, commanded I, at that time saying, —Thine are the eyes, that have seen all that Yahweh your God hath done unto these two kings, thus, will Yahweh do unto all the kingdoms whereunto thou, art passing over:

22 Du skal ikke frygte for dem; thi HERREN eders Gud vil selv kæmpe for eder!"

ye shall not fear them, —for, Yahweh your God, he, it is that is fighting for you.

23 Og dengang bad jeg således til HERREN:

Then sought I Yahweh at that time, for a favour saying:

24 "Herre, HERRE! Du har begyndt at vise din Tjener din Storhed og din stærke Hånd! Thi hvem er den Gud i Himmelen og på Jorden, der kan gøre sådanne Gerninger og Storværker som du?

My Lord Yahweh, thou thyself, hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy firm hand, —as to which, what GOD is there, in the heavens or in the earth, that can do according to thy doings, and according to thy mighty deeds?

25 Lad mig da få Lov at drage over og se det herlige Land hinsides Jordan, det herlige Bjergland og Libanon!"

Let me pass over, I pray thee that I may see the good land that is over the Jordan, —this good mountain, and the Lebanon.

26 Men HERREN var vred på mig for eders Skyld og hørte mig ikke, men han sagde til mig: "Lad det være nok, tal ikke mere til mig om den Sag;

But Yahweh had been provoked with me for your sakes, and hearkened not unto me, —and Yahweh said unto me, Enough for thee! do not add a word unto me further in this matter.

27 men stig op på Pisgas Tinde, løft dit Blik mod Vest og Nord, mod Syd og Øst, og tag det i Øjesyn. Thi du kommer ikke til at drage over Jordan dernede;

Ascend the top of the Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes—westward, and northward and southward and eastward—and see with thine own eyes, —for thou shalt not pass over this Jordan.

28 men sig Josua, hvad han skal, og sæt Mod i ham og styrk ham, thi det bliver ham, der skal drage over i Spidsen for dette Folk, og ham, der skal give dem det Land, du ser, i Eje."

But command thou Joshua and confirm him and embolden him, —for, he, shall pass over before this people, and, he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.

29 Så blev vi i Dalen lige over for Bet Peor.

So we abode in the valley, over against Beth-peor.
