Ezra 10
1 Medens Ezra nu under Bøn og Syndsbekendelse grædende kastede sig ned foran Guds Hus, samlede en stor Skare Israeliter sig om ham, baade Mænd, Kvinder og Børn, thi Folket græd heftigt.
So when Esdras [had] prayed, and when he [had] confessed, weeping and praying before the house of God, a very great assembly of Israel came together to him, men and women and youths; for the people wept, and wept aloud.
2 Derpaa tog Sjekanja, Jehiels Søn, af Elams Efterkommere til Orde og sagde til Ezra: »Vi har været troløse mod vor Gud ved at hjemføre fremmede Kvinder af Hedningerne i Landet. Men trods alt er der endnu Haab for Israel.
And Sechenias the son of Jeel, of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Esdras, We have broken covenant with our God, and have taken strange wives of the nations of the land: yet now there is patience [of hope] to Israel concerning this thing.
3 Lad os slutte Pagt for vor Gud om at skille os af med alle vore fremmede Kvinder og deres Børn efter min Herres Bestemmelse og deres, som bæver for Guds Bud, og lad der blive handlet efter Loven!
Now then let us make a covenant with our God, to put away all the wives, and their offspring, as thou shalt advise:
4 Staa op, thi det er dig, der skal tage dig af Sagen, og vi vil staa dig bi; vær frimodig og tag fat!«
arise, and alarm them with the commands of our God; and let [it] be done according to the law. Rise up, for the matter [is] upon thee; and we [are] with thee: be strong and do.
5 Da stod Ezra op og tog Præsternes, Leviternes og hele Israels Øverster i Ed paa, at de vilde handle saaledes, og de aflagde Eden.
Then Esdras arose, and caused the rulers, the priests, and Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they would do according to this word: and they swore.
6 Derpaa rejste Ezra sig fra Pladsen foran Guds Hus og begav sig til Johanans, Eljasjibs Søns, Kammer, hvor han tilbragte Natten; han hverken spiste eller drak, fordi han græmmede sig over Troløsheden hos dem, der havde været i Landflygtighed.
And Esdras rose up from before the house of God, and went to the treasury of Joanan the son of Elisub; he even went thither: he ate no bread, and drank no water; for he mourned over the unfaithfulness [of them] of the captivity.
7 Derpaa lod man kundgøre i Juda og Jerusalem for alle dem, der havde været i Landflygtighed, at de skulde give Møde i Jerusalem;
And they made proclamation throughout Juda and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should assemble at Jerusalem, [saying],
8 og enhver, som ikke indfandt sig Tredjedagen derefter ifølge Øversternes og de Ældstes Bestemmelse, al hans Ejendom skulde der lægges Band paa, og han selv skulde udelukkes fra deres Forsamling, der havde været i Landflygtighed.
Every one who shall not arrive within three days, as [is] the counsel of the rulers and the elders, all his substance shall be forfeited, and he shall be separated from the congregation of the captivity.
9 Saa samledes alle Mænd af Juda og Benjamin paa Tredjedagen i Jerusalem; det var den tyvende Dag i den niende Maaned; og alt Folket stillede sig op paa den aabne Plads ved Guds Hus, skælvende baade for Sagens Skyld og som Følge af Regnskyllene.
So all the men of Juda and Benjamin assembled at Jerusalem within the three days. This [was] the ninth month: on the twentieth day of the month all the people sat down in the street of the house of the Lord, because of their alarm concerning the word, and because of the storm.
10 Derpaa stod Præsten Ezra op og sagde til dem: »I har forbrudt eder ved at hjemføre fremmede Kvinder og saaledes øget Israels Syndeskyld;
And Esdras the priest arose, and said to them, Ye have broken covenant, and have taken strange wives, to add to the trespass of Israel.
11 saa bekend da nu eders Synd for HERREN, eders Fædres Gud, og gør hans Vilje; skil eder ud fra Hedningerne i Landet og fra de fremmede Kvinder!«
Now therefore give praise to the Lord God of our fathers, and do that which is pleasing in his sight: and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the strange wives.
12 Og hele Forsamlingen svarede med høj Røst: »Som du siger, bør vi gøre!
Then all the congregation answered and said, This thy word [is] powerful upon us to do it.
13 Men Folket er talrigt, og det er Vinterregnens Tid, saa vi kan ikke blive staaende her ude; og Sagen kan heller ikke afgøres paa en Dag eller to, da vi har forbrudt os højligen her.
But the people [is] numerous, and the season [is] stormy, and there is no power to stand without, and the work is more than enough for one day or for two; for we have greatly sinned in this matter.
14 Lad derfor Øversterne for hele vor Forsamling give Møde og lad alle dem, der i vore Byer har hjemført fremmede Kvinder, indfinde sig til en fastsat Tid, ledsaget af de enkelte Byers Ældste og Dommere, for at vi kan blive friet fra vor Guds Vrede i denne Sag!«
Let now our rulers stand, and for all those in our cities who have taken strange wives, let them come at appointed times, and with them elders from every several city, and judges, to turn away the fierce wrath of our God from us concerning this matter.
15 Kun Jonatan, Asa'els Søn, og Jazeja, Tikvas Søn, satte sig derimod med Støtte fra Mesjullam og Leviten Sjabbetaj.
Only Jonathan the son of Asael, and Jazias the son of Thecoe [were] with me concerning this; and Mesollam, and Sabbathai the Levite helped them.
16 Men de, der havde været i Landflygtighed, handlede derefter; og Præsten Ezra udvalgte sig nogle Mænd, Overhovederne for de enkelte Fædrenehuse, alle med Navns Nævnelse. Disse holdt da Møde den første Dag i den tiende Maaned for at undersøge Sagen,
And the children of the captivity did thus: and Esdras the priest, and heads of families according to [their] house were separated, and all by their names, for they returned in the first day of the tenth month to search out the matter.
17 og de var færdige med alle de Mænd, som havde hjemført fremmede Kvinder, til den første Dag i den første Maaned.
And they made an end with all the men who had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.
18 Blandt Præsterne fandtes følgende, der havde hjemført fremmede Kvinder: Af Jesuas, Jozadaks Søns, Efterkommere og hans Brødre Ma'aseja, Eliezer, Jarib og Gedalja;
And there were found [some] of the sons of the priests who had taken strange wives: of the sons of Jesus the son of Josedec, and his brethren; Maasia, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gadalia.
19 disse gav deres Haand paa at ville sende deres Hustruer bort, og deres Skyldoffer var en Væder for deres Syndeskyld.
And they pledged themselves to put away their wives, and [offered] a ram of the flock for a trespass-offering because of their trespass.
20 Af Immers Efterkommere: Hanani og Zebadja.
And of the sons of Emmer; Anani, and Zabdia.
21 Af Harims Efterkommere: Ma'aseja, Elija, Sjemaja, Jehiel og Uzzija.
And of the sons of Eram; Masael, and Elia, and Samaia, and Jeel, and Ozia.
22 Af Pasjhurs Efterkommere: Eljoenaj, Ma'aseja, Jisjmael, Netan'el, Jozabad og El'asa.
And of the sons of Phasur; Elionai, Maasia, and Ismael, and Nathanael, and Jozabad, and Elasa.
23 Af Leviterne: Jozabad, Sjim'i. Kelaja, det er Kelita, Petaja, Juda og Eliezer.
And of the Levites; Jozabad, and Samu, and Colia (he [is] Colitas, ) and Phetheia, and Judas, and Eliezer.
24 Af Tempelsangerne: Eljasjib og Zakkur. Af Dørvogterne Sjallum, Telem og Uri.
And of the singers; Elisab: and of the porters; Solmen, and Telmen, and Oduth.
25 Af Israel: Af Par'osj's Efterkommere: Ramja, Jizzija, Malkija, Mijjamin, El'azar, Malkija og Benaja.
Also of Israel: of the sons of Phoros; Ramia, and Azia, and Melchia, and Meamin, and Eleazar, and Asabia, and Banaia.
26 Af Elams Efterkommere: Mattanja, Zekarja, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremot og Elija.
And of the sons of Helam; Matthania, and Zacharia, and Jaiel, and Abdia, and Jarimoth, and Elia.
27 Af Zattus Efterkommere: Eljoenaj, Eljasjib, Mattanja, Jeremot, Zabad og Aziza.
And of the sons of Zathua; Elionai, Elisub, Matthanai, and Armoth, and Zabad, and Oziza.
28 Af Bebajs Efterkommere: Johanan, Hananja, Zabbaj og Atlaj.
And of the sons of Babei; Joanan, Anania, and Zabu, and Thali.
29 Af Banis Efterkommere: Mesjullam, Malluk, Adaja, Jasjub, Sjeal og Ramot.
And of the sons of Banui; Mosollam, Maluch, Adaias, Jasub, and Saluia, and Remoth.
30 Af Pahat-Moabs Efterkommere: Adna, Kelal, Benaja, Ma'aseja, Mattanja, Bezal'el, Binnuj og Menassje.
And of the sons of Phaath Moab; Edne, and Chalel, and Banaia, Maasia, Matthania, Beseleel, and Banui, and Manasse.
31 Af Harims Efterkommere: Eliezer, Jissjija, Malkija, Sjemaja, Sjim'on,
And of the sons of Eram; Eliezer, Jesia, Melchia, Samaias, Semeon,
32 Binjamin, Malluk og Sjemarja.

33 Af Hasjums Efterkommere: Mattenaj, Mattatta, Zabad, Elifelet, Jeremaj, Menassje og Sjim'i.
And of the sons of Asem; Metthania, Matthatha, Zadab, Eliphalet, Jerami, Manasse, Semei.
34 Af Banis Efterkommere: Ma'adaj, Amram, Uel,
And of the sons of Bani; Moodia, Amram, Uel,
35 Benaja, Bedeja, Keluhu,
Banaia, Badaia, Chelkia,
36 Vanja, Meremot, Eljasjib,
Uvania, Marimoth, Eliasiph,
37 Mattanja, Mattenaj og Ja'asaj.

and [so] did the children of Banui, and the children of Semei,

40 Maknadbaj, Sjasjaj, Sjaraj,

41 Azar'el, Sjelemja, Sjemarja,
Ezriel, and Selemia, and Samaria,

43 Af Nebos Efterkommere: Je'iel, Mattitja, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddaj, Joel og Benaja.
Of the sons of Nabu; Jael, Matthanias, Zabad, Zebennas, Jadai, and Joel, and Banaia.
44 Alle disse havde taget fremmede Kvinder til Ægte, men sendte nu Hustruer og Børn bort.
All these had taken strange wives, and had begotten sons of them.
