Matouš 4
1 Tehdy Ježíš veden jest na poušť od Ducha, aby pokoušín byl od ďábla.
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2 A postiv se čtyřidceti dnů a čtyřidceti nocí, potom zlačněl.
When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward.
3 A přistoupiv k němu pokušitel, řekl: Jsi-li Syn Boží, rciž, ať kamení toto chlebové jsou.
The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
4 On pak odpovídaje, řekl: Psánoť jest: Ne samým chlebem živ bude člověk, ale každým slovem vycházejícím skrze ústa Boží.
But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of God’s mouth.’”
5 Tedy pojal jej ďábel do svatého města, a postavil ho na vrchu chrámu.
Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6 A řekl mu: Jsi-li Syn Boží, spustiž se dolů; nebo psáno jest, že andělům svým přikázal o tobě, a na ruce uchopí tebe, abys někde o kámen nohy své neurazil.
and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and, ‘On their hands they will bear you up, so that you do not dash your foot against a stone.’”
7 I řekl mu Ježíš: Zase psáno jest: Nebudeš pokoušeti Pána Boha svého.
Jesus said to him, “Again, it is written, ‘You shall not test the Lord, your God.’”
8 Opět pojal ho ďábel na horu vysokou velmi, a ukázal mu všecka království světa i slávu jejich,
Again, the devil took him to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
9 A řekl jemu: Toto všecko tobě dám, jestliže padna, budeš mi se klaněti.
He said to him, “I will give you all of these things, if you will fall down and worship me.”
10 Tedy řekl mu Ježíš: Odejdiž, satane; neboť psáno jest: Pánu Bohu svému klaněti se budeš, a jemu samému sloužiti budeš.
Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”
11 Tedy opustil ho ďábel, a aj, andělé přistoupili a sloužili jemu.
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.
12 A když uslyšel Ježíš, že by Jan byl vsazen, navrátil se do Galilee.
Now when Jesus heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee.
13 A opustiv Nazarét, přišed, bydlil v Kafarnaum při moři, v krajinách Zabulon a Neftalím,
Leaving Nazareth, he came and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,
14 Aby se naplnilo povědění skrze Izaiáše proroka, řkoucího:
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
15 Země Zabulon a Neftalím při moři za Jordánem, Galilea pohanská,
“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
16 Lid, kterýž bydlil v temnostech, viděl světlo veliké, a sedícím v krajině a stínu smrti, světlo vzešlo jim.
the people who sat in darkness saw a great light; to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, to them light has dawned.”
17 Od toho času počal Ježíš kázati a praviti: Pokání čiňte; neboť se přiblížilo království nebeské.
From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, “Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”
18 A chodě Ježíš podlé moře Galilejského, uzřel dva bratry, Šimona, kterýž slove Petr, a Ondřeje bratra jeho, ani pouštějí síť do moře, (nebo byli rybáři.)
Walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
19 I dí jim: Poďte za mnou, a učiním vás rybáře lidí.
He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.”
20 A oni hned opustivše síti, šli za ním.
They immediately left their nets and followed him.
21 A poodšed odtud, uzřel jiné dva bratry, Jakuba syna Zebedeova, a Jana bratra jeho, na lodí s Zebedeem otcem jejich, ani tvrdí síti své. I povolal jich.
Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them.
22 A oni hned opustivše lodí a otce svého, šli za ním.
They immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.
23 I procházel Ježíš všecku Galilei, uče v shromážděních jejich a káže evangelium království, a uzdravuje všelikou nemoc i všeliký neduh v lidu.
Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
24 A rozešla se o něm pověst po vší Syrii. I vodili k němu všecky nemocné, rozličnými neduhy a trápeními obklíčené, i ďábelníky, i náměsičníky, i šlakem poražené, a uzdravoval je.
The report about him went out into all Syria. They brought to him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, possessed with demons, epileptics, and paralytics; and he healed them.
25 I šli za ním zástupové mnozí z Galilee a z Desíti měst, i z Jeruzaléma i z Judstva i z Zajordání.
Great multitudes from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan followed him.
