1 ⲁ̅ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲁϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ
Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples:
2 ⲃ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ϩⲓⲧⲕⲁⲑⲉⲇⲣⲁ ⲙⲙⲱⲩⲥⲏⲥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ
“The scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.
3 ⲅ̅ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲁⲣⲓⲥⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϩⲁⲣⲉϩ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲣⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲛⲉⲩϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲥⲉϫⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲥⲉⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲁⲛ
So practice and observe everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
4 ⲇ̅ ⲥⲉⲙⲟⲩⲣ ⲇⲉ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲉⲧⲡⲱ ⲉⲩϩⲟⲣϣ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲩⲙⲟⲕϩ ⲛϥⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⲥⲉⲧⲁⲗⲟ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲛ ⲛⲛⲁϩⲃⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲥⲉⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲕⲓⲙ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲟⲩⲁ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲧⲏⲏⲃⲉ
They tie up heavy, burdensome loads and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
5 ⲉ̅ ϩⲱⲃ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲥⲉⲟⲩⲱϣⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲫⲩⲗⲁⲕⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲥⲉⲕⲱ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲧⲱⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲁⲁⲁⲩ
All their deeds are done for men to see. They broaden their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels.
6 ⲋ̅ ⲥⲉⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁ ⲛⲛⲟϫⲟⲩ ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲛⲇⲓⲡⲛⲟⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲙⲁ ⲛⲉϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ϩⲛ ⲛⲥⲩⲛⲁⲅⲱⲅⲏ
They love the places of honor at banquets, the chief seats in the synagogues,
7 ⲍ̅ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲁⲥⲡⲁⲥⲙⲟⲥ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲛⲁⲅⲟⲣⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ϫⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲃⲃⲉⲓ
the greetings in the marketplaces, and the title of ‘Rabbi’ by which they are addressed.
8 ⲏ̅ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲣⲧⲣⲉⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲃⲃⲉⲓ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲥⲁϩ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲏⲣⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϩⲛⲥⲛⲏⲩ
But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers.
9 ⲑ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲣⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲉⲉⲓⲱⲧ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲓϫⲙ ⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲧϩⲛ ⲙⲡⲏⲩⲉ
And do not call anyone on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.
10 ⲓ̅ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲣⲧⲣⲉⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲣⲉϥϯⲥⲃⲱ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲣⲉϥϯⲥⲃⲱ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Christ.
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲡⲛⲟϭ ⲇⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉϥⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲟⲥ
The greatest among you shall be your servant.
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁϫⲓⲥⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲑⲃⲃⲓⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲑⲃⲃⲓⲟϥ ⲥⲉⲛⲁϫⲁⲥⲧϥ
For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛϩⲩⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲧⲁⲙ ⲛⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲛⲙⲡⲏⲩⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲙⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲛⲉⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲃⲏⲕ ⲁⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲃⲏⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let in those who wish to enter.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛϩⲩⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲟⲩϣⲧ ⲛⲧⲉⲑⲁⲗⲁⲥⲥⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲉⲧϣⲟⲩⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲡⲣⲟⲥⲩⲗⲏⲧⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲉⲓⲣⲉ ϣⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲁϥ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲧⲅⲉϩⲉⲛⲛⲁ ⲉϥⲕⲏⲃ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ (Geenna g1067)
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You traverse land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are. (Geenna g1067)
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲛϫⲁⲩⲙⲟⲉⲓⲧ ⲛⲉⲧϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲱⲣⲕ ⲙⲡⲣⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲱⲣⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⲙⲡⲣⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲛⲥⲟϭ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲛⲟϭ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲃ ⲡⲉ ϫⲛⲡⲣⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲃ
You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred?
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲱⲣⲕ ⲙⲡⲉⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲱⲣⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲙⲡⲇⲱⲣⲟⲛ ⲉⲧϩⲓϫⲱϥ ⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲛⲥⲟϭ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲁϣ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲛⲟϭ ⲡⲇⲱⲣⲟⲛ ⲡⲉ ϫⲛⲡⲉⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲙⲡⲇⲱⲣⲟⲛ
You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes it sacred?
20 ⲕ̅ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲱⲣⲕ ϭⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ϥⲱⲣⲕ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩⲏϩ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱϥ
So then, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲱⲣⲕ ⲙⲡⲣⲡⲉ ϥⲱⲣⲕ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩⲏϩ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the One who dwells in it.
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲱⲣⲕ ⲛⲧⲡⲉ ϥⲱⲣⲕ ⲙⲡⲉⲑⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱϥ
And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the One who sits on it.
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛϩⲩⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛϯ ⲙⲡⲣⲉⲙⲏⲧ ⲙⲡϩⲁϭⲓⲛ ⲛⲥⲧⲟⲓ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲉⲙⲓⲥⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲧⲁⲡⲛ ⲛⲉⲧϩⲟⲣϣ ⲇⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲥⲁⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲡϩⲁⲡ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲛⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉϣϣⲉ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲁⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲕⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲕⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲥⲁⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cumin. But you have disregarded the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲛϫⲁⲩⲙⲟⲉⲓⲧ ⲛⲉⲧⲑⲗⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲧϣⲟⲗⲙⲉⲥ ⲉⲧⲱⲙⲕ ⲙⲡϭⲁⲙⲟⲩⲗ
You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
25 ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛϩⲩⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲙⲡⲥⲁⲙⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲡⲓⲛⲁⲝ ⲡⲉⲩϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲉϩ ⲛⲧⲱⲣⲡ ϩⲓⲁⲕⲁⲑⲁⲣⲥⲓⲁ
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
26 ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ ⲡⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲡⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲙⲡⲥⲁⲛϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲡⲁⲡⲟⲧ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲡⲓⲛⲁⲝ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲩⲕⲉⲥⲁⲙⲃⲟⲗ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉϥⲧⲃⲃⲏⲩ
Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside may become clean as well.
27 ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛϩⲩⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲟ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲛⲓⲧⲁⲫⲟⲥ ⲉⲧϫⲏϩ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲉⲥⲱⲟⲩ ⲙⲉⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲩⲥⲁⲙⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲩⲥⲁ ⲛϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲉϩ ⲛⲕⲁⲥ ⲛⲕⲱⲱⲥ ϩⲓⲁⲕⲁⲑⲁⲣⲥⲓⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside, but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of impurity.
28 ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ ⲧⲁⲓ ϩⲱⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛϩⲉ ϩⲓⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ϩⲱⲥ ⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲥⲁⲛϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲉϩ ⲛϩⲩⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲥⲓⲥ ϩⲓⲁⲛⲟⲙⲓⲁ
In the same way, on the outside you appear to be righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
29 ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ ⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛϩⲩⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲕⲱⲧ ⲛⲛⲧⲁⲫⲟⲥ ⲛⲛⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲥⲁⲛⲟ ⲛⲙϩⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲛⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous.
30 ⲗ̅ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲛϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲛⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲉⲓⲟⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲛⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲕⲟⲓⲛⲱⲛⲟⲥ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲛⲛⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ
And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’
31 ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲣⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϩⲱⲧⲃ ⲛⲛⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ
So you testify against yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets.
32 ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ϩⲱⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡϣⲓ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲟⲧⲉ
Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your fathers.
33 ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ ⲛϩⲟϥ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲛⲉϩⲃⲱ ⲛⲁϣ ⲛϩⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲣⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲧⲉⲕⲣⲓⲥⲓⲥ ⲛⲧⲅⲉϩⲉⲛⲛⲁ (Geenna g1067)
You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape the sentence of hell? (Geenna g1067)
34 ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϯⲛⲁⲧⲛⲟⲟⲩ ϣⲁⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲙⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲥⲟⲫⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲟⲩⲟⲩⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲧⲁⲩⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲁⲥⲧⲓⲅⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲥⲩⲛⲁⲅⲱⲅⲏ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲱⲧ ⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩ ϫⲓⲛⲉⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲉⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ
Because of this, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and others you will flog in your synagogues and persecute in town after town.
35 ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲉⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲛ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲉⲁⲩⲡⲁϩⲧϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓ ϫⲙⲡⲕⲁϩ ϫⲓⲛ ⲡⲉⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲛⲁⲃⲉⲗ ⲡⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ϣⲁⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲛⲍⲁⲭⲁⲣⲓⲁⲥ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲃⲁⲣⲁⲭⲓⲁⲥ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϩⲟⲧⲃⲉϥ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲡⲣⲡⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲉⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ
And so upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.
36 ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲩ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲛ ⲧⲉⲓⲅⲉⲛⲉⲁ
Truly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.
37 ⲗ̅ⲍ̅ ⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲥⲟⲗⲩⲙⲁ ⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲥⲟⲗⲩⲙⲁ ⲧⲉⲧϩⲱⲧⲃ ⲛⲛⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲧϩⲓⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲧⲛⲟⲟⲩⲥⲟⲩ ϣⲁⲣⲟⲥ ϩⲁϩ ⲛⲥⲟⲡ ⲁⲓⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲟⲩϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲟⲩϩⲁⲗⲏⲧ ⲛϣⲁϥⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲥ ϩⲁⲛⲉϥⲧⲏⲛϩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲛⲟⲩⲱϣ
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling!
38 ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲏⲓ ⲕⲏ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ
Look, your house is left to you desolate.
39 ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ ϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ ϫⲓⲛ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲟⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ϥⲥⲙⲁⲙⲁⲁⲧ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲏⲩ ϩⲙ ⲡⲣⲁⲛ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ
For I tell you that you will not see Me again until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
