1 ⲁ̅ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩϣⲧ ⲛϩⲓⲉⲣⲓⲭⲱ
He entered and was passing through Jericho.
2 ⲃ̅ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉϣⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲍⲁⲕⲭⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲩⲁⲣⲭ ⲓⲧⲉⲗⲱⲛⲏⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲣⲣⲙⲙⲁⲟ
And look, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.
3 ⲅ̅ ⲉϥϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲓⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡϥϭⲙϭⲟⲙ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉ ⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲡⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉϥϭⲟⲧ
He was trying to see who Jesus was, and could not because of the crowd, because he was short.
4 ⲇ̅ ⲁϥⲡⲱⲧ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲑⲏ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲗⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩϩⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲉⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉϥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ
He ran on ahead, and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way.
5 ⲉ̅ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲁϥϥⲓⲁⲧϥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲍⲁⲕⲭⲁⲓⲟⲥ ϭⲉⲡⲏ ⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ϩⲁⲡⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲣⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲕⲏⲓ ⲙⲡⲟⲟⲩ
And as he came to the place, looking up, Jesus saw him, and said to him, "Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house."
6 ⲋ̅ ⲁϥϭⲉⲡⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲁϥϣⲟⲡϥ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉϥⲣⲁϣⲉ
He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.
7 ⲍ̅ ⲁⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲕⲣⲙⲣⲙ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲁϥϭⲟⲓⲗⲉ ⲉⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲣⲣⲉϥⲣⲛⲟⲃⲉ
And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, "He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner."
8 ⲏ̅ ⲁⲍⲁⲕⲭⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ϯϯ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲧⲡⲁϣⲉ ⲛⲛⲁϩⲩⲡⲁⲣⲭⲟⲛⲧⲁ ⲛⲛϩⲏⲕⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓϯ ϣⲧⲟⲩⲏⲧ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲁ ϯⲛⲁⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲛϥⲧⲟⲩ ⲕⲱⲃ
And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone, I restore four times as much."
9 ⲑ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲓⲏⲓ ⲙⲡⲟⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩϣⲏⲣⲉ ϩⲱⲱϥ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲁⲃⲣⲁϩⲁⲙ
Jesus said to him, "Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
10 ⲓ̅ ⲛⲧⲁ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲓ ⲉϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲉⲧⲁⲛϩⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲥⲟⲣⲙ
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost."
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲉⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲛⲁⲓ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϩ ⲉⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ ⲁϥϫⲱ ⲛⲟⲩⲡⲁⲣⲁⲃⲟⲗⲏ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲩϩⲏⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲥⲟⲗⲩⲙⲁ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ
As they heard these things, he went on and told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that the Kingdom of God would be revealed immediately.
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϭⲉ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲉⲩⲅⲉⲛⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲩⲭⲱⲣⲁ ⲉⲥⲟⲩⲏⲩ ⲉϫⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲉⲕⲟⲧϥ
He said therefore, "A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲙⲏⲧ ⲛϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ ⲁϥϯ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲙⲙⲏⲧ ⲛⲙⲛⲁ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁⲣⲓ ϩⲱⲃ ϣⲁⲛϯⲉⲓ
He called ten servants of his, and gave them ten mina coins, and told them, 'Conduct business until I come.'
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲛⲉϥⲣⲙ ⲛϯⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲟⲥⲧⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲡⲣⲉⲥⲃⲓⲁ ϩⲓ ⲡⲁϩⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲛⲟⲩⲉϣ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥⲣⲣⲣⲟ ⲉϫⲱⲛ
But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us.'
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲧⲣⲉϥⲉⲓ ⲉⲁϥϫⲓ ⲛⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲉⲛⲓϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϯ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲙⲡϩⲁⲧ ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲉⲉⲓⲙⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲣⲟⲩ ⲛϩⲱⲃ
"It happened when he had come back again, having received the kingdom, that he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲁⲡϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲓ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁⲧⲉⲕⲙⲛⲁ ϫⲡⲉ ⲙⲏⲧ ⲛⲙⲛⲁ
The first came before him, saying, 'Lord, your mina has made ten more minas.'
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲕⲁⲗⲱⲥ ⲡϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲛⲁⲅⲁⲑⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲕⲣ ⲡⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩⲓ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲩⲛⲧⲕ ⲉⲝⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉϫⲛ ⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲗⲉⲓⲥ
"And he said to him, 'Well done, good servant. Because you were faithful with very little, you will have authority over ten cities.'
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ⲁⲡⲙⲉϩ ⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲓ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁⲧⲉⲕⲙⲛⲁ ⲣϯⲟⲩ ⲛⲙⲛⲁ
"The second came, saying, 'Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.'
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲕⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ϩⲱⲱⲕ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉϫⲛ ϯⲙⲡⲟⲗⲉⲓⲥ
"So he said to him, 'And you are to be over five cities.'
20 ⲕ̅ ⲁⲡⲕⲉⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲓ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲧⲉⲕⲙⲛⲁ ⲉⲛⲉⲥ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧ ⲥⲕⲏ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲟⲩⲇⲁⲣⲓⲟⲛ
Another came, saying, 'Lord, look, your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief,
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲉⲓⲣ ϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ϩⲏⲧⲕ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲕ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲛⲁⲩⲥⲧⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲕϥⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲕⲕⲁⲁϥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲕⲱϩⲥ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲉⲙⲡⲕϫⲟϥ
for I feared you, because you are an exacting man. You take up that which you did not lay down, and reap that which you did not sow.'
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲛⲁⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲕ ϩⲛ ⲣⲱⲕ ⲡⲡⲟⲛⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲛϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲕⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲅ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲁⲩⲥⲧⲏⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲓϥⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲓⲕⲁⲁϥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲓⲱϩⲥ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲓϫⲟϥ
"He said to him, 'Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I did not lay down, and reaping that which I did not sow.
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲕϯ ⲙⲡⲁϩⲁⲧ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲣⲁⲡⲉⲍⲁ ⲧⲁⲉⲓ ⲧⲁϫⲓⲧϥ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲏⲥⲉ
Then why did you not deposit my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have earned interest on it?'
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ϥⲓ ⲛⲧⲉⲙⲛⲁ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲁⲁⲥ ⲙⲡⲁ ⲡⲙⲏⲧ ⲛⲙⲛⲁ
He said to those who stood by, 'Take the mina away from him, and give it to him who has the ten minas.'
25 ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲛⲧϥ ⲙⲏⲧ ⲛⲙⲛⲁ
"They said to him, 'Lord, he has ten minas.'
26 ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁϥ ⲥⲉⲛⲁϯ ⲛⲁϥ ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲙⲙⲛⲧⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ⲥⲉⲛⲁϥⲓ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ ⲙⲡⲕⲉ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁϥⲥϥ
'For I tell you that to everyone who has, will more be given; but from him who does not have, even that which he has will be taken away.
27 ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ ⲡⲗⲏⲛ ⲛⲁϫⲓϫⲉⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲧⲣⲁⲣⲣⲣⲟ ⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲁⲛⲓⲥⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲓⲙⲁ ⲕⲟⲛⲥⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲁⲙⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
But bring those enemies of mine who did not want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.'"
28 ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϩⲁ ⲧⲉⲩϩⲏ ⲉϥⲃⲏⲕ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲥⲟⲗⲩⲙⲁ
Having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
29 ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ ⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϩⲱⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲃⲏⲇⲫⲁⲕⲏ ⲙⲛ ⲃⲁⲑⲁⲛⲓⲁ ⲉⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲉϣⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁ ⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲧ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ
It happened, when he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples,
30 ⲗ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲉⲡⲉⲓϯⲙⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲡⲉⲧⲛⲙⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲃⲱⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁϩⲉ ⲉⲩⲥⲏϭ ⲉϥⲙⲏⲣ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲙⲡⲉ ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲣⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲁⲗⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲃⲟⲗϥ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲧϥ
saying, "Go your way into the village on the other side, in which, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, whereon no one ever yet sat. Untie it, and bring it.
31 ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ϫⲛⲟⲩⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲃⲱⲗ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁϫⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉϥϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲛⲁϥ
If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' say to him: 'Because the Lord needs it.'"
32 ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ ⲁⲩⲃⲱⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲟⲟⲩⲥⲉ ⲁⲩϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ
Those who were sent went away, and found things just as he had told them.
33 ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ ⲉⲩⲃⲱⲗ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡⲥⲏϭ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲛⲉϥϫⲓⲥⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁϩⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲃⲱⲗ ⲙⲡⲥⲏϭ
As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, "Why are you untying the colt?"
34 ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉϥϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲛⲁϥ
They said, "Because the Lord needs it."
35 ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ ⲁⲩⲛⲧϥ ⲇⲉ ϣⲁ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲁⲩⲡⲱⲣϣ ⲛⲛⲉⲩϩⲟⲓ ⲧⲉ ⲉϫⲙ ⲡⲥⲏϭ ⲁⲩⲧⲁⲗⲉ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲉϫⲱϥ
They brought it to Jesus. They threw their cloaks on the colt, and set Jesus on them.
36 ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ ⲉⲩⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲡⲱⲣϣ ⲛⲛⲉⲩϩⲟⲓⲧⲉ ϩⲓ ⲧⲉϩⲓⲏ
As he went, they spread their cloaks in the way.
37 ⲗ̅ⲍ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϩⲱⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉϥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ϩⲓ ⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲧ ⲁϥⲁⲣⲭⲓ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲩⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲉⲩⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲥⲙⲏ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲛϭⲟⲙ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ
As he was now getting near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen,
38 ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ϥⲥⲙⲁⲙⲁⲁⲧ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲣⲣⲟ ⲉⲧⲛⲏⲟⲩ ϩⲙ ⲡⲣⲁⲛ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϯⲣⲏⲛⲏ ϩⲛ ⲧⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲧϫⲟⲥⲉ
saying, "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest."
39 ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉ ϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ϫⲉ ⲡⲥⲁϩ ⲉⲡⲓⲧⲓⲙⲁ ⲛⲛⲉⲕⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ
Some of the Pharisees from the crowd said to him, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples."
40 ⲙ̅ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲕⲁ ⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲓⲱⲛⲉ ⲛⲁϫⲓϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
He answered them, "I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out."
41 ⲙ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϩⲱⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲁϥⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱⲥ
When he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it,
42 ⲙ̅ⲃ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲛⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲓⲙⲉ ϩⲱⲱⲧⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲟⲟⲩ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲛⲉⲧϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲉ ⲉⲩⲉⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩϩⲱⲡ ⲉⲛⲟⲩⲃⲁⲗ
saying, "If you, even you, had known today the things that make for peace. But now, they are hidden from your eyes.
43 ⲙ̅ⲅ̅ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ ϩⲉⲛϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲱ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲟⲩϫⲁϫⲉ ⲕⲧⲉ ⲟⲩϣⲱⲗϩ ⲉⲣⲟ ⲛⲥⲉⲟⲧⲡⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲥⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ
For the days will come on you, when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,
44 ⲙ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲥⲉⲣⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲉⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲟⲩϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲉ ⲛⲥⲉⲧⲙⲕⲁ ⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ϩⲓϫⲛ ⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲥⲟⲩⲛ ⲡⲉⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲙⲡⲟⲩϭⲙ ⲡϣⲓⲛⲉ
and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you did not know the time of your visitation."
45 ⲙ̅ⲉ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲉⲣⲡⲉ ⲁϥⲁⲣⲭⲓ ⲛⲛⲟⲩϫⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲛⲉⲧϯ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
And he entered into the temple, and began to drive out those who were selling and buying in it,
46 ⲙ̅ⲋ̅ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ϥⲥⲏϩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲏⲓ ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲛⲏⲓ ⲛϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲥⲡⲏⲗⲁⲓⲟⲛ ⲛⲥⲟⲟⲛⲉ
saying to them, "It is written, 'And my house will be a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of robbers'."
47 ⲙ̅ⲍ̅ ⲛⲉϥϯ ⲥⲃⲱ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲙⲏⲛⲉ ⲡⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲣⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲛⲉⲩϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧϥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲛⲟϭ ⲙⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ
He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests and the scribes and the leaders among the people sought to destroy him.
48 ⲙ̅ⲏ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲟⲩϭⲛ ⲛⲉⲩⲛⲁⲣ ⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
They could not find what they might do, for all the people hung on to every word that he said.
