1 ⲁ̅ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲛⲧⲉⲗⲱⲛⲏⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛⲙ ⲣⲣⲉϥⲣⲛⲟⲃⲉ ϩⲱⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
Now all the tax collectors and sinners were approaching him to hear him.
2 ⲃ̅ ⲛⲉⲩⲕⲣⲙⲣⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ϣⲉⲡⲣⲉϥⲣⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϥⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲩ
And the Pharisees and the scholars murmured, saying, This man receives sinners and eats with them.
3 ⲅ̅ ⲁϥϫⲱ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲓⲡⲁⲣⲁⲃⲟⲗⲏ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ
And he spoke this parable to them, saying,
4 ⲇ̅ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲣⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁϥ ϣⲉ ⲛⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲥⲉⲣⲙ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲙⲏ ⲛϥⲛⲁⲕⲁ ⲡⲓⲡⲥⲧⲁⲓⲟⲩⲯⲓⲥ ⲁⲛ ϩⲓⲡϫⲁⲓⲉ ⲛϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲛϥϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲁⲡⲓⲟⲩⲁ ϣⲁⲛⲧϥϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, does not leave behind the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go for that which was lost until he finds it?
5 ⲉ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϣⲁϥⲧⲁⲗⲟϥ ⲉϫⲛ ⲛⲉϥⲛⲁϩⲃⲉ ⲉϥⲣⲁϣⲉ
And when he finds it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 ⲋ̅ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲉⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲏⲓ ϣⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲉϥϣⲃⲉⲉⲣ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲧϩⲓⲧⲟⲩⲱϥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲁⲓϩⲉ ⲉⲡⲁⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲥⲱⲣⲙ
And when he comes to the house, he calls together his men friends and his men neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost.
7 ⲍ̅ ϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ϣⲁⲣⲉⲟⲩⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲓϩⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉϫⲛ ⲟⲩⲣⲉϥⲣⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲙⲉⲧⲁⲛⲟⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲉ ⲡⲓⲡⲥⲧⲁⲓⲟⲩⲯⲓⲥ ⲛⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲉⲣⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲙⲉⲧⲁⲛⲟⲓⲁ
I say to you, that thus there will be joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous men who have no need of repentance.
8 ⲏ̅ ⲏ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲩⲛⲧⲥⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲛⲇⲣⲁⲭⲙⲏ ⲛⲥⲥⲉⲣⲙⲟⲩⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲙⲏ ⲛⲥⲛⲁϫⲉⲣⲉⲡϩⲏⲃⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲥⲥⲉϩⲣⲡⲏⲓ ⲛⲥϣⲓⲛⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲱⲣϫ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲥϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ
Or what woman having ten drachmas, if she lose one drachma, does not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently until she finds it?
9 ⲑ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲥϣⲁⲛϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ϣⲁⲥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲉⲥϣⲃⲉⲉⲣ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲧϩⲓⲧⲟⲩⲱⲥ ⲉⲥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲁⲓϩⲉ ⲉⲧⲁⲇⲣⲁⲭⲙⲏ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓⲥⲟⲣⲙⲉⲥ
And when she has found it, she calls together her lady friends and lady neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me, because I found the drachma that I lost.
10 ⲓ̅ ϯϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲉ ϣⲁⲣⲉⲟⲩⲣⲁϣⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲓϩⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲙⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲛⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉϫⲛ ⲟⲩⲣⲉϥⲣⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲉϥϣⲁⲛⲙⲉⲧⲁⲛⲟⲉⲓ
Thus I say to you, there becomes joy in the presence of the agents of God over one sinner who repents.
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁϥ ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲥⲛⲁⲩ
And he said, A certain man had two sons,
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉⲡⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲓⲱⲧ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲙⲁ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲙⲡⲁⲙⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲧⲁϩⲟ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ϩⲛ ⲧⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲁϥⲡⲱϣ ⲇⲉ ⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲛⲕⲁ
and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me. And he divided to them his living.
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲉⲙⲡⲁⲧⲉϩⲁϩ ⲇⲉ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲓⲛⲉ ⲁⲡⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲥⲉⲩϩ ⲛⲕⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲛⲧⲁϥⲥ ⲁϥⲁⲡⲟⲇⲏⲙⲓ ⲉⲩⲭⲱⲣⲁ ⲉⲥⲟⲩⲏⲟⲩ ⲁϥϫⲱⲱⲣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲉϥⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧϣⲛⲁ
And not many days after, the younger son, having gathered all together, journeyed into a distant country, and there he squandered his wealth living recklessly.
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥϫⲉⲣⲉ ⲛⲕⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛϩⲉⲃⲱⲱⲛ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲭⲱⲣⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲁⲣⲭⲓ ⲛϣⲱⲱⲧ
And when he spent all, a mighty famine developed in that country, and he began to be in want.
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲁϥⲧⲟϭϥ ⲉⲩⲁ ⲛⲣⲣⲙⲛϯⲙⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲭⲱⲣⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲩϥ ⲉⲧⲉϥⲥⲱϣⲉ ⲉⲙⲟⲟⲛⲉ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲣⲓⲣ
And having gone, he was joined to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉϥⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓ ⲉⲥⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲛϭⲁⲣⲁⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲣⲉⲣⲣⲓⲣ ⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲙⲙⲛⲗⲁⲁⲩ ϯⲛⲁϥ
And he longed to fill his belly from the husks that the swine ate, and no man gave to him.
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲁϥⲙⲉⲕⲙⲟⲩⲕϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩⲏⲣ ⲛϫⲁⲓⲃⲉⲕⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲟⲓⲕ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲓⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲙⲁ ϩⲁ ⲡⲉϩⲕⲟ
But when he came to himself, he said, How many hired men of my father's have abundance of loaves, but I am perishing with hunger.
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ϯⲛⲁⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲧⲁⲃⲱⲕ ϣⲁⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲛⲧⲁϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲁⲓⲣⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲉⲧⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲙⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
After rising, I will go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in thy sight.
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲛϯⲙⲡϣⲁ ⲁⲛ ϫⲓⲛ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲕϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲁⲁⲧ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲛⲛⲉⲓϫⲁⲓ ⲃⲉⲕⲉ
I am no more worthy to be called thy son. Make me as one of thy hired men.
20 ⲕ̅ ⲁϥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲉⲓ ϣⲁ ⲡⲉϥⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲧⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲙⲡⲟⲩⲉ ⲁⲡⲉϥⲓⲱⲧ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁϥϣⲛϩⲧⲏϥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲉⲓ ⲉϫⲱϥ ⲁϥⲡⲱⲧ ⲁϥⲡⲁϩⲧϥ ⲉϫⲛ ⲡⲉϥⲙⲁⲕϩ ⲁϥϯⲡⲓ ⲉⲣⲱϥ
And having risen, he went to his father. But while he was still distant, afar off, his father saw him and felt compassion. And having ran, he fell on his neck, and kissed him much.
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉⲡⲉϥϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲁⲓⲣⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲉⲧⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲙⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϯⲙⲡϣⲁ ⲁⲛ ϫⲓⲛ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲓ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲕϣⲏⲣⲉ
And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in thy sight. I am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲉⲡⲓⲱⲧ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲛⲉϥϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ϫⲉ ϭⲉⲡⲏ ⲁⲛⲓⲛⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲧⲉⲥⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲁⲁⲥ ϩⲓⲱⲱϥ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϯ ⲛⲟⲩⲝⲟⲩⲣ ⲉⲧⲉϥϭⲓϫ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲧⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧⲉ
But the father said to his bondmen, Bring forth the best robe and clothe him, and give a ring for his hand, and shoes for his feet.
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲡⲙⲁⲥⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲁⲛⲁϣⲧ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲁⲁⲧϥ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲩⲫⲣⲁⲛⲉ
And having brought the fatted calf, kill it, and having eaten, we will be cheerful,
24 ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲡⲉ ⲁϥⲱⲛϩ ⲛⲉϥⲥⲟⲣⲙ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲓϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲁⲣⲭⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲩⲫⲣⲁⲛⲉ
because this my son was dead, and became alive again. And he was lost, and is found. And they began to be cheerful.
25 ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉϥⲛⲟϭ ⲇⲉ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲥⲱϣⲉ ⲉϥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲁϥϩⲱⲛ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲏⲓ ⲁϥⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲩⲥⲩⲙⲫⲱⲛⲓⲁ ⲛⲙⲟⲩⲭⲟⲣⲟⲥ
But his elder son was in a field. And while coming, having approached the house, he heard music and dancing.
26 ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲩⲁ ⲛⲛϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲁϥϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ
And having summoned one of the boys, he inquired what these things might be.
27 ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲥⲟⲛ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲁⲡⲉⲕⲓⲱⲧ ϣⲱⲱⲧ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲙⲡⲙⲁⲥⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲁⲛⲁϣⲧ ϫⲉ ⲁϥϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲟϫ
And he said to him, Thy brother arrived, and thy father has killed the fatted calf, because he received him back healthy.
28 ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ ⲁϥⲛⲟⲩϭⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡϥⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲡⲉϥⲓⲱⲧ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁϥⲥⲉⲡⲥⲱⲡϥ
But he was angry, and would not go in. Therefore, his father having come out, he called him.
29 ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲓⲱⲧ ϫⲉ ⲓⲥⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲣⲣⲟⲙⲡⲉ ϯⲟ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲛϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲙⲡⲓⲕⲱ ⲛⲥⲱⲓ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲟⲩⲉⲓ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲧⲕ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲕϯ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲁⲥ ⲃⲃⲁⲁⲙⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲁⲉⲩⲫⲣⲁⲛⲉ ⲛⲙⲛⲁϣⲃⲉⲉⲣ
But having answered, he said to his father, Lo, so many years do I serve thee, and I never passed by a commandment of thine, and yet thou never gave me a goat that I might be merry with my friends.
30 ⲗ̅ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲕϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲓ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲛⲛⲉⲕⲛⲕⲁ ⲛⲙⲙⲡⲟⲣⲛⲟⲥ ⲁⲕϣⲱⲱⲧ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲙⲡⲙⲁⲥⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲁⲛⲁϣⲧ
But when this thy son came, who has devoured thy living with harlots, thou killed for him the fatted calf.
31 ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲧⲟⲕ ⲕϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲓ ⲟⲩⲟⲓϣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲟⲩⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛⲟⲩⲕ ⲛⲉ
And he said to him, Child, thou are always with me, and all my things are yours.
32 ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ ϣϣⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲛⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲛⲧⲛⲉⲩⲫⲣⲁⲛⲉ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲥⲟⲛ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲉϥⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲡⲉ ⲁϥⲱⲛϩ ⲛⲉϥⲥⲟⲣⲙ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲓϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
But it was needful to make merry and be glad, because this thy brother was dead, and became alive again, and was lost, and was found.
