1 ⲁ̅ ⲚϨⲢⲎⲒ ⲆⲈ ϦⲈⲚⲐⲘⲀϨ ⲒⲈ ⲚⲢⲞⲘⲠⲒ ⲚⲦⲈⲐⲘⲈⲦϨⲎⲄⲈⲘⲰⲚ ⲚⲦⲒⲂⲈⲢⲒⲞⲤ ⲠⲞⲨⲢⲞ ⲈϤⲞⲒ ⲚϨⲎⲄⲈⲘⲰⲚ ⲚϪⲈⲠⲞⲚⲦⲒⲞⲤ ⲠⲒⲖⲀⲦⲞⲤ ⲈϮⲒⲞⲨⲆⲈⲀ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲈϤⲞⲒ ⲚⲦⲈⲦⲢⲀⲀⲢⲬⲎⲤ ⲈϮⲄⲀⲖⲒⲖⲈⲀ ⲚϪⲈⲎⲢⲰⲆⲎⲤ ⲪⲒⲖⲒⲠⲠⲞⲤ ⲆⲈ ⲠⲈϤⲤⲞⲚ ⲈϤⲞⲒ ⲚⲦⲈⲦⲢⲀⲀⲢⲬⲎⲤ ⲈⲦϨⲒⲆⲞⲨⲘⲈⲀ ⲚⲈⲘ ϮⲦⲈⲦⲢⲀⲄⲰⲚⲒⲦⲎⲤ ⲚⲬⲰⲢⲀ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲖⲒⲤⲀⲚⲒⲞⲤ ⲈϤⲞⲒ ⲚⲦⲈⲦⲢⲀⲀⲢⲬⲎⲤ ⲈϮⲀⲂⲒⲖⲒⲚⲎ
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
2 ⲃ̅ ⲚⲀϨⲢⲀϤ ⲚⲀⲚⲚⲀ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲔⲀⲒⲀⲪⲀ ⲚⲒⲀⲢⲬⲒⲈⲢⲈⲨⲤ ⲀϤϢⲰⲠⲒ ⲚϪⲈⲞⲨⲤⲀϪⲒ ⲚⲦⲈⲪⲚⲞⲨϮ ⲈϪⲈⲚ ⲒⲰⲀⲚⲚⲎⲤ ⲠϢⲎⲢⲒ ⲚⲌⲀⲬⲀⲢⲒⲀⲤ ϨⲒ ⲠϢⲀϤⲈ.
during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to Yochanan, the son of Zechariah, in the wilderness.
3 ⲅ̅ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀϤⲒ ⲈϮⲠⲈⲢⲒⲬⲰⲢⲞⲤ ⲦⲎⲢⲤ ⲚⲦⲈⲠⲒⲒⲞⲢⲆⲀⲚⲎⲤ ⲈϤϨⲒⲰⲒϢ ⲚⲞⲨⲰⲘⲤ ⲚⲦⲈⲞⲨⲘⲈⲦⲀⲚⲞⲒⲀ ⲈⲠⲬⲀ ⲚⲞⲂⲒ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ.
He came into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming the immersion of repentance for remission of sins.
4 ⲇ̅ ⲘⲪⲢⲎϮ ⲈⲦⲤϦⲎⲞⲨⲦ ϨⲒ ⲠϪⲰⲘ ⲚⲚⲒⲤⲀϪⲒ ⲚⲦⲈⲎⲤⲀⲒⲀⲤ ⲠⲒⲠⲢⲞⲪⲎⲦⲎⲤ ⲦⲤⲘⲎ ⲘⲠⲈⲦⲰϢ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϨⲒ ⲠϢⲀϤⲈ ϪⲈ ⲤⲈⲂⲦⲈ ⲪⲘⲰⲒⲦ ⲘⲠϬⲞⲒⲤ ⲤⲞⲨⲦⲰⲚ ⲚⲚⲈϤⲘⲀⲚⲘⲞϢⲒ.
As it is written in the scroll of the words of Isaiah the prophet, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make ready the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight.
5 ⲉ̅ ϦⲈⲖⲖⲞⲦ ⲚⲒⲂⲈⲚ ⲈⲨⲈⲘⲞϨ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲦⲰⲞⲨ ⲚⲒⲂⲈⲚ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲐⲀⲖ ⲚⲒⲂⲈⲚ ⲈⲨⲈⲐⲈⲂⲒⲰⲞⲨ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲈⲨⲈϢⲰⲠⲒ ⲚϪⲈⲚⲎ ⲈⲦⲔⲞⲖϪ ⲈⲨⲤⲞⲨⲦⲰⲚ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚⲎ ⲈⲐⲚⲀϢⲦ ⲈϨⲀⲚⲘⲰⲒⲦ ⲈⲨϪⲎⲚ
Every valley will be filled. Every mountain and hill will be brought low. The crooked will become straight, and the rough ways smooth.
6 ⲋ̅ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲈⲨⲈⲚⲀⲨ ⲚϪⲈⲤⲀⲢⲜ ⲚⲒⲂⲈⲚ ⲈⲠⲒⲤⲰⲦⲎ ⲢⲚⲦⲈ ⲪⲚⲞⲨϮ.
All flesh will see God’s salvation.’”
7 ⲍ̅ ⲚⲀϤϪⲰ ⲞⲨⲚ ⲘⲘⲞⲤ ⲠⲈ ⲚⲚⲒⲘⲎϢ ⲈⲐⲚⲎ ⲞⲨ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϨⲀⲢⲞϤ ⲈϬⲒⲰⲘⲤ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϨⲒⲦⲞⲦϤ ⲚⲒⲘⲒⲤⲒ ⲚⲦⲈⲚⲒⲀϪⲰ ⲚⲒⲘ ⲀϤⲦⲀⲘⲈ ⲐⲎⲚⲞⲨ ⲈⲪⲰⲦ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲀⲦϨⲎ ⲘⲠⲒϪⲰⲚⲦ ⲈⲐⲚⲎⲞⲨ.
He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be immersed by him, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 ⲏ̅ ⲘⲀⲦⲀⲞⲨⲈ ⲞⲨⲦⲀϨ ⲞⲨⲚ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ⲈϤⲘⲠϢⲀ ⲚϮⲘⲈⲦⲀⲚⲞⲒⲀ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲘⲠⲈⲢⲈⲢϨⲎⲦⲤ ⲚϪⲞⲤ ⲚϦⲢⲎⲒ ϦⲈⲚⲐⲎⲚⲞⲨ ϪⲈ ⲠⲈⲚⲒⲰⲦ ⲚⲦⲀⲚ ⲀⲂⲢⲀⲀⲘ ϮϪⲰ ⲘⲘⲞⲤ ⲚⲰⲦⲈⲚ ϪⲈ ⲞⲨⲞⲚ ϢϪⲞⲘ ⲘⲪⲚⲞⲨϮ ⲈⲦⲞⲨⲚⲞⲤ ϨⲀⲚϢⲎⲢⲒ ⲚⲀⲂⲢⲀⲀⲘ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲀⲒⲰⲚⲒ.
Therefore produce fruits worthy of repentance, and don’t begin to say amongst yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father;’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones!
9 ⲑ̅ ϨⲎⲆⲎ ⲆⲈ ⲠⲒⲔⲈⲖⲈⲂⲒⲚ ϤⲬⲎ ϦⲀ ⲐⲚⲞⲨⲚⲒ ⲚⲚⲒϢϢⲎⲚ ϢϢⲎⲚ ⲆⲈ ⲚⲒⲂⲈⲚ ⲈⲦⲈϤⲚⲀⲈⲚ ⲞⲨⲦⲀϨ ⲈⲚⲀⲚⲈϤ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ⲀⲚ ⲤⲈⲚⲀⲔⲞⲢϪϤ ⲚⲤⲈϨⲒⲦϤ ⲈⲠⲒⲬⲢⲰⲘ.
Even now the axe also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”
10 ⲓ̅ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚⲀⲨϢⲒⲚⲒ ⲘⲘⲞϤ ⲠⲈ ⲚϪⲈⲚⲒⲘⲎ ϢⲈⲨϪⲰ ⲘⲘⲞⲤ ϪⲈ ⲞⲨ ⲠⲈⲦⲈⲚⲚⲀⲀⲒϤ.
The multitudes asked him, “What then must we do?”
11 ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ ⲀϤⲈⲢⲞⲨⲰ ⲆⲈ ⲚⲰⲞⲨ ϪⲈ ⲪⲎ ⲈⲦⲈ ⲞⲨⲞⲚ ϢⲐⲎⲚ ⲤⲚⲞⲨϮ ⲚⲦⲀϤ ⲘⲀⲢⲈϤϮ ⲘⲪⲎ ⲈⲦⲈⲘⲘⲞⲚⲦⲀϤ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲪⲎ ⲈⲦⲈⲞⲨⲞⲚ ϨⲀⲚϦⲢⲎ ⲞⲨⲒ ⲚⲦⲀϤ ⲘⲀⲢⲈϤⲒⲢⲒ ⲞⲚ ⲘⲠⲀⲒⲢⲎϮ.
He answered them, “He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise.”
12 ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ ⲀⲨⲒ ⲆⲈ ⲞⲚ ⲚϪⲈϨⲀⲚⲔⲈⲦⲈⲖⲰⲚⲎⲤ ϨⲒⲚⲀ ⲚⲦⲞⲨϬⲒⲰⲘⲤ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲠⲈϪⲰⲞⲨ ⲚⲀϤ ϪⲈ ⲪⲢⲈϤϮⲤⲂⲰ ⲞⲨ ⲠⲈⲦⲈⲚⲚⲀⲀⲒϤ.
Tax collectors also came to be immersed, and they said to him, “Rabbi, what must we do?”
13 ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ ⲚⲐⲞϤ ⲆⲈ ⲠⲈϪⲀϤ ⲚⲰⲞⲨ ϪⲈ ⲘⲠⲈⲢⲈⲢ ϨⲖⲒ ⲤⲀⲂⲞⲖ ⲘⲠⲈⲦⲐⲎϢ ⲚⲰⲦⲈⲚ.
He said to them, “Collect no more than that which is appointed to you.”
14 ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ ⲚⲀⲨϢⲒⲚⲒ ⲆⲈ ⲘⲘⲞϤ ⲚϪⲈϨⲀⲚⲔⲈⲘⲀⲦⲞⲒ ⲈⲨϪⲰ ⲘⲘⲞⲤ ϪⲈ ⲞⲨ ϨⲰⲚ ⲠⲈⲦⲈⲚⲚⲀⲀⲒϤ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲠⲈϪⲀϤ ⲚⲰⲞⲨ ϪⲈ ⲘⲠⲈⲢⲖⲈϢϪ ϨⲖⲒ ⲞⲨⲆⲈ ⲘⲠⲈⲢϬⲒ ϨⲖⲒ ⲚϪⲞⲚⲤ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲘⲀⲢⲞⲨⲢⲀϢ ⲐⲎⲚⲞⲨ ⲚϪⲈⲚⲈⲦⲈⲚⲞⲮⲰⲚⲒⲞⲚ.
Soldiers also asked him, saying, “What about us? What must we do?” He said to them, “Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages.”
15 ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ ⲈϤϪⲞⲨϢⲦ ⲆⲈ ⲚϪⲈⲠⲒⲖⲀⲞⲤ ⲦⲎⲢϤ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲈⲨⲘⲞⲔⲘⲈⲔ ⲦⲎⲢⲞⲨ ϦⲈⲚⲠⲞⲨϨⲎⲦ ⲈⲐⲂⲈ ⲒⲰⲀⲚⲚⲎⲤ ϪⲈ ⲘⲎⲠⲞⲦⲈ ⲚⲐⲞϤ ⲠⲈ ⲠⲬⲢⲒⲤⲦⲞⲤ.
As the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning Yochanan, whether perhaps he was the Messiah,
16 ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ ⲀϤⲈⲢⲞⲨⲰ ⲚⲰⲞⲨ ⲦⲎⲢⲞⲨ ⲚϪⲈⲒⲰⲀⲚⲚⲎⲤ ⲈϤϪⲰ ⲘⲘⲞⲤ ϪⲈ ⲀⲚⲞⲔ ⲘⲈⲚ ϮⲰⲘⲤ ⲘⲘⲰⲦⲈⲚ ϦⲈⲚⲞⲨⲘⲰⲞⲨ ϤⲚⲎⲞⲨ ⲆⲈ ⲚϪⲈⲠⲈⲦϪⲞⲢ ⲈⲢⲞⲒ ⲪⲎ ⲈⲦⲈ ⲚϮⲘⲠϢⲀ ⲀⲚ ⲈϮⲞⲨⲰ ⲚⲞⲨⲘⲞⲨⲤⲈⲢ ⲚⲦⲈⲠⲈϤⲐⲰⲞⲨⲒ ⲚⲐⲞϤ ⲈϤⲈⲈⲘⲤ ⲐⲎⲚⲞⲨ ϦⲈⲚⲞⲨⲠⲚⲈⲨⲘⲀⲈϤⲞⲨⲀⲂ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲞⲨⲬⲢⲰⲘ.
Yochanan answered them all, “I indeed immerse you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will immerse you in the Holy Spirit and fire.
17 ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ ⲪⲎ ⲈⲦⲈ ⲠⲈϤϦⲀⲒ ⲚⲞⲨⲰⲦⲈⲂ ϦⲈⲚⲦⲈϤϪⲒϪ ⲈⲦⲞⲨⲂⲞ ⲘⲠⲈϤϬⲚⲰⲞⲨ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚⲦⲈϤⲐⲰⲞⲨϮ ⲘⲠⲈϤⲤⲞⲨⲞ ⲈϮⲀⲠⲞⲐⲎⲔⲎ ⲠⲒⲦⲞϨ ⲆⲈ ϤⲚⲀⲢⲞⲔϨϤ ϦⲈⲚⲞⲨⲬⲢⲰⲘ ⲚⲀⲦϬⲈⲚⲞ.
His winnowing fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
18 ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ ϨⲀⲚⲘⲎϢ ⲘⲈⲚ ⲞⲨⲚ ⲚⲈⲘ ϨⲀⲚⲔⲈⲬⲰⲞⲨⲚⲒ ⲈϤϮⲚⲞⲘϮ ⲚⲰⲞⲨ ⲚⲀϤϨⲒϢⲈⲚⲚⲞⲨϤⲒ ⲘⲠⲒⲖⲀⲞⲤ.
Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people,
19 ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ ⲎⲢⲰⲆⲎⲤ ⲆⲈ ⲠⲒⲦⲈⲦⲢⲀⲀⲢⲬⲎⲤ ⲈϤⲤⲞϨⲒ ⲘⲘⲞϤ ⲚϪⲈⲒⲰⲀⲚⲚⲎⲤ ⲈⲐⲂⲈ ⲎⲢⲰⲆⲒⲀⲤ ⲦⲤϨⲒⲘⲒ ⲘⲪⲒⲖⲒⲠⲠⲞⲤ ⲠⲈϤⲤⲞⲚ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲈⲐⲂⲈ ϨⲰⲂ ⲚⲒⲂⲈⲚ ⲈⲦⲀϤⲀⲒⲦⲞⲨ ⲚϪⲈⲎⲢⲰⲆⲎⲤ.
but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,
20 ⲕ̅ ⲀϤⲦⲞⲨϨⲞ ⲘⲠⲀⲒⲬⲈⲦ ⲈⲢⲰⲞⲨ ⲦⲎⲢⲞⲨ ⲀϤϨⲒⲞⲨⲒ ⲚⲒⲰⲀⲚⲚⲎⲤ ⲈⲠⲒϢⲦⲈⲔⲞ.
added this also to them all, that he shut up Yochanan in prison.
21 ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ ⲀⲤϢⲰⲠⲒ ⲆⲈ ⲈⲦⲀϤϬⲒⲰⲘⲤ ⲚϪⲈⲠⲒⲖⲀⲞⲤ ⲦⲎⲢϤ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲠⲒⲔⲈ ⲒⲎⲤⲞⲨⲤ ⲈⲦⲀϤϬⲒⲰⲘⲤ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲈϤⲈⲢⲠⲢⲞⲤⲈⲨⲬⲈⲤⲐⲈ ⲀⲤⲞⲨⲰⲚ ⲚϪⲈⲦⲪⲈ
Now when all the people were immersed, Yeshua also had been immersed and was praying. The sky was opened,
22 ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀϤⲒ ⲈϦⲢⲎⲒ ⲈϪⲰϤ ⲚϪⲈⲠⲒⲠⲚⲈⲨⲘⲀⲈⲐⲞⲨⲀⲂ ⲘⲠⲤⲘⲞⲦ ⲚⲞⲨⲤⲰⲘⲀ ⲘⲪⲢⲎϮ ⲚⲞⲨϬⲢⲞⲘⲠⲒ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲞⲨⲤⲘⲎ ⲀⲤϢⲰⲠⲒ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲦⲪⲈ ϪⲈ ⲚⲐⲞⲔ ⲠⲈ ⲠⲀϢⲎⲢⲒ ⲠⲀⲘⲈⲚⲢⲒⲦ ⲈⲦⲀⲒϮ ⲘⲀϮ ⲚϦⲎⲦϤ.
and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form like a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying “You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased.”
23 ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ ⲒⲎⲤⲞⲨⲤ ⲆⲈ ⲀϤⲈⲢϨⲎⲦⲤ ⲚϢⲰⲠⲒ ϦⲈⲚⲐⲘⲀϨ ⲖⲚⲢⲞⲘⲠⲒ ϨⲰⲤ ⲈⲨⲘⲈⲨⲒ ⲈⲢⲞϤ ϪⲈ ⲠϢⲎⲢⲒ ⲚⲒⲰⲤⲎⲪ ⲪⲀ ⲎⲖⲒ.
