申命記 2
1 「此後，我們轉回，從紅海的路往曠野去，是照耶和華所吩咐我的。我們在西珥山繞行了許多日子。
Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as Jehovah spoke to me. And we encompassed mount Seir many days.
2 耶和華對我說：
And Jehovah spoke to me, saying,
3 『你們繞行這山的日子夠了，要轉向北去。
Ye have encompassed this mountain long enough, turn northward.
4 你吩咐百姓說：你們弟兄以掃的子孫住在西珥，你們要經過他們的境界。他們必懼怕你們，所以你們要分外謹慎。
And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the border of your brothers the sons of Esau, who dwell in Seir, and they will be afraid of you. Take ye good heed to yourselves therefore.
5 不可與他們爭戰；他們的地，連腳掌可踏之處，我都不給你們，因我已將西珥山賜給以掃為業。
Do not contend with them, for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on, because I have given mount Seir to Esau for a possession.
6 你們要用錢向他們買糧吃，也要用錢向他們買水喝。
Ye shall purchase food from them for money, that ye may eat, and ye shall also buy water from them for money, that ye may drink.
7 因為耶和華－你的上帝在你手裏所辦的一切事上已賜福與你。你走這大曠野，他都知道了。這四十年，耶和華－你的上帝常與你同在，故此你一無所缺。』
For Jehovah thy God has blessed thee in all the work of thy hand. He has known thy walking through this great wilderness. These forty years Jehovah thy God has been with thee; thou have lacked nothing.
8 「於是，我們離了我們弟兄以掃子孫所住的西珥，從亞拉巴的路，經過以拉他、以旬‧迦別，轉向摩押曠野的路去。
So we passed by from our brothers the sons of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from the way of the Arabah from Elath and from Ezion-geber. And we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
9 耶和華吩咐我說：『不可擾害摩押人，也不可與他們爭戰。他們的地，我不賜給你為業，因我已將亞珥賜給羅得的子孫為業。』（
And Jehovah said to me, Do not vex Moab, neither contend with them in battle, for I will not give thee of his land for a possession, because I have given Ar to the sons of Lot for a possession.
10 先前，有以米人住在那裏，民數眾多，身體高大，像亞衲人一樣。
(The Emim dwelt in it formerly, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim.
11 這以米人像亞衲人；也算為利乏音人；摩押人稱他們為以米人。
These also are accounted Rephaim, as the Anakim, but the Moabites call them Emim.
12 先前，何利人也住在西珥，但以掃的子孫將他們除滅，得了他們的地，接着居住，就如以色列在耶和華賜給他為業之地所行的一樣。）
The Horites also dwelt in Seir formerly, but the sons of Esau succeeded them. And they destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead, as Israel did to the land of his possession, which Jehovah gave to them.)
13 現在，起來過撒烈溪！於是我們過了撒烈溪。
Now rise up, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.
14 自從離開加低斯‧巴尼亞，到過了撒烈溪的時候，共有三十八年，等那世代的兵丁都從營中滅盡，正如耶和華向他們所起的誓。
And the days in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we came over the brook Zered, were thirty-eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah swore to them.
15 耶和華的手也攻擊他們，將他們從營中除滅，直到滅盡。
Moreover the hand of Jehovah was against them, to destroy them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.
16 「兵丁從民中都滅盡死亡以後，
So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,
17 耶和華吩咐我說：
that Jehovah spoke to me, saying,
18 『你今天要從摩押的境界亞珥經過，
Thou are this day to pass over Ar, the border of Moab.
19 走近亞捫人之地，不可擾害他們，也不可與他們爭戰。亞捫人的地，我不賜給你們為業，因我已將那地賜給羅得的子孫為業。』（
And when thou come near opposite the sons of Ammon, do not vex them, nor contend with them, for I will not give thee of the land of the sons of Ammon for a possession, because I have given it to the sons of Lot for a possession.
20 那地也算為利乏音人之地，先前利乏音人住在那裏，亞捫人稱他們為散送冥。
(That also is accounted a land of Rephaim. Rephaim dwelt in it formerly, but the Ammonites call them Zamzummim,
21 那民眾多，身體高大，像亞衲人一樣，但耶和華從亞捫人面前除滅他們，亞捫人就得了他們的地，接着居住。
a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim. But Jehovah destroyed them before them, and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead,
22 正如耶和華從前為住西珥的以掃子孫將何利人從他們面前除滅、他們得了何利人的地、接着居住一樣，直到今日。
as he did for the sons of Esau, who dwell in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites from before them. And they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even to this day.
23 從迦斐託出來的迦斐託人將先前住在鄉村直到迦薩的亞衛人除滅，接着居住。）
And the Avvim, who dwelt in villages as far as Gaza, the Caphtorim, who came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
24 你們起來前往，過亞嫩谷；我已將亞摩利人希實本王西宏和他的地交在你手中，你要與他爭戰，得他的地為業。
Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the valley of the Arnon. Behold, I have given into thy hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. Begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.
25 從今日起，我要使天下萬民聽見你的名聲都驚恐懼怕，且因你發顫傷慟。」
This day I will begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the peoples who are under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.
26 「我從基底莫的曠野差遣使者去見希實本王西宏，用和睦的話說：
And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
27 『求你容我從你的地經過，只走大道，不偏左右。
Let me pass through thy land. I will go along by the highway, I will turn neither to the right hand nor to the left.
28 你可以賣糧給我吃，也可以賣水給我喝，只要容我步行過去，
Thou shall sell me food for money, that I may eat, and give me water for money, that I may drink. Only let me pass through on my feet,
29 就如住西珥的以掃子孫和住亞珥的摩押人待我一樣，等我過了約旦河，好進入耶和華－我們上帝所賜給我們的地。』
as the sons of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did to me, until I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which Jehovah our God gives us.
30 但希實本王西宏不容我們從他那裏經過；因為耶和華－你的上帝使他心中剛硬，性情頑梗，為要將他交在你手中，像今日一樣。
But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him, for Jehovah thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as at this day.
31 耶和華對我說：『從此起首，我要將西宏和他的地交給你；你要得他的地為業。』
And Jehovah said to me, Behold, I have begun to deliver up Sihon and his land before thee. Begin to possess, that thou may inherit his land.
32 那時，西宏和他的眾民出來攻擊我們，在雅雜與我們交戰。
Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Jahaz.
33 耶和華－我們的上帝將他交給我們，我們就把他和他的兒子，並他的眾民，都擊殺了。
And Jehovah our God delivered him up before us. And we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
34 我們奪了他的一切城邑，將有人煙的各城，連女人帶孩子，盡都毀滅，沒有留下一個。
And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones; we left none remaining.
35 惟有牲畜和所奪的各城，並其中的財物，都取為自己的掠物。
We only took the cattle for a prey to ourselves, with the spoil of the cities which we had taken.
36 從亞嫩谷邊的亞羅珥和谷中的城，直到基列，耶和華－我們的上帝都交給我們了，沒有一座城高得使我們不能攻取的。
From Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and from the city that is in the valley, even to Gilead, there was not a city too high for us. Jehovah our God delivered up all before us.
37 惟有亞捫人之地，凡靠近雅博河的地，並山地的城邑，與耶和華－我們上帝所禁止我們去的地方，都沒有挨近。」
Only to the land of the sons of Ammon thou did not come near, all the side of the river Jabbok, and the cities of the hill-country, and wherever Jehovah our God forbad us.
