Luk 18
1 Lungpout laipalah ratoum yungyoe awh, tie cangkhainae dawkvah Jisuh ni bangnuenae a dei.
Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and never despair.
2 Khopui buet touh dawkvah Cathut hai ka taket hoeh ni teh tami hai barilawa ti ka tawn hoeh e lawkcengkung bawi buet touh ao.
“There was,” he said, “in a certain town a judge, who had no fear of God nor regard for people.
3 Hote kho dawkvah lahmainu buet touh ao teh kai koe lah lawk na ceng pouh leih, telah atuhoitu pou a tho sin.
In the same town there was a widow who went to him again and again, and said ‘Grant me justice against my opponent.’
4 Lawkcengkung bawi ni atueng moi ka saw lah a kangek.
For a time the judge refused, but afterward he said to himself ‘Although I am without fear of God or regard for people,
5 Hateiteh, lawkcengkung bawi ni kai teh Cathut hai ka taket hoeh, tami barilawanae hai ka tawn hoeh e lah ka o ei, hete lahmainu ni pou na tarawk dawkvah, lawkceng pouh hoeh pawiteh boutbout tho vaiteh ka lungrei na thaisak han doeh. Hatdawkvah ahni koe lah lawk ka ceng pouh han toe telah a ti.
yet, as this widow is so troublesome, I will grant her justice, to stop her from plaguing me with her endless visits.’”
6 Hathnukkhu Bawipa ni, hote lawkcengkung bawi ni a dei e teh na thai awh toe.
Then the Master added, “Listen to what this iniquitous judge says!
7 Cathut ni a rawi tangcoung e taminaw ni amom tangmin lah a hram laihoi het pawiteh lawkceng pouh laipalah ao han maw.
And God – won’t he see that his own people, who cry to him night and day, have justice done them – though he holds his hand?
8 Kai ni ka dei e teh, ahnimouh koe lah karanglah lawk a ceng han. Hatei tami Capa a tho torei teh talai van vah yuemnae a hmu han nama aw, telah atipouh.
He will, I tell you, give them justice soon enough! Yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
9 Mahoima tamikalan lah kâpouk ni teh ayânaw hah banglahai ka noutna hoeh e tami koevah Jisuh ni bangnuenae lawk a dei.
Another time, speaking to people who were satisfied that they were religious, and who regarded everyone else with scorn, Jesus told this parable –
10 Tami kahni touh teh bawkim dawk ratoum hanelah a cei roi. Buet touh teh Farasi lah ao teh, alouke teh tamuk ka cawng e lah ao.
“Two men went up into the Temple Courts to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other a tax-gatherer.
11 Farasi ni a kangdue teh hettelah a ratoum. Oe Cathut, kai teh ayânaw patetlah ngainae kalen e, laithoe ka dei e, napui tongpa yonnae ka sak e tami lah ka o hoeh dawkvah nang koe ka lunghawi, hahoi hete tamuk ka cawng e tami patetlah hai ka o hoeh dawkvah ka lunghawi.
The Pharisee stood forward and began praying to himself in this way – ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men – thieves, rogues, adulterers – or even like this tax-gatherer.
12 Yat touh dawkvah hnin hni touh rawca pou ka hai teh hnopai ka tawn e pueng pung hra pung touh ka poe telah a ti.
I fast twice a week, and give a tenth of everything I get to God.’
13 Hatei tamuk ka cawng e tami teh ahla poungnae koe a kangdue teh, kalvan lah khen ngam laipalah a tabut teh, oe Cathut, kai tamikayon na pahren haw telah a ti.
Meanwhile the tax-gatherer stood at a distance, not venturing even to raise his eyes to heaven, but he kept striking his breast and saying ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14 Kai ni ka dei e teh, Farasi laipalah hete tami heh yon ngaithoum lah ao teh im vah a ban. Bangkongtetpawiteh amahoima kârasang e tami teh rahnoum lah ao vaiteh amahoima kârahnoum e tami teh tawm lah ao han telah atipouh.
This man, I tell you, went home pardoned, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, while everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.”
15 Hatnavah camonaw kut hoi tek hanelah Jisuh koe a thokhai awh. Hatei a hnukkâbangnaw ni a hmu navah a yue awh.
Some of the people were bringing even their babies to Jesus, for him to touch them; but, when the disciples saw it, they began to find fault with those who had brought them.
16 Hatei, Jisuh ni camonaw a kaw teh, camonaw kai koe tho sak awh. Ahnimouh hah cakâ awh hanh. Bangkongtetpawiteh Cathut uknaeram teh het patet e taminaw hanelah nahoehmaw ao.
Jesus, however, called the little children to him. “Let the little children come to me,” he said, “and do not hinder them, for it is to the childlike that the kingdom of God belongs.

I tell you, unless a man receives the kingdom of God like a child, he will not enter it at all.”

And one of the leaders asked Jesus this question – “Good teacher, what must I do if I am to gain eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
19 Jisuh ni, bangkongmaw kahawi e saya telah na ti pouh, telah a pacei teh, Cathut laipalah apihai tami kahawi awm hoeh.
“Why do you call me good?” answered Jesus. “No one is good but God.
20 Kâpoelawknaw hah na panue han doeh, uicuk hanh, tami thet hanh, parawt hanh, laithoe kampangkhai hanh, na manu hoi na pa barih telah atipouh.
You know the commandments – Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not say what is false about others, Honor your father and your mother.”
21 Ahni ni, hete kâlawknaw pueng ka nawca hoi koung ka tarawi toe telah ati. Hete lawk Jisuh ni a thai navah buet touh na panki rah atipouh.
“I have observed all these,” he replied, “from childhood.”
22 Na tawn e hno pueng yawt nateh mathoenaw poeh, hottelah na sak pawiteh, kalvan kho vah hno na tawn han, hathnukkhu tho nateh ka hnuk kâbang telah atipouh.
Hearing this, Jesus said to him, “There is one thing still lacking in you; sell everything that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven; then come and follow me.”
23 Ahni teh ka bawi poung e lah ao dawkvah, hete lawk a thai navah a lung thouk a mathoe.
But the man became greatly distressed on hearing this, for he was extremely rich.
24 Jisuh ni a lungmathoe e hah a hmu navah, ka tangrengnaw ni Cathut uknaeram dawk a kâen hane a ru poung bovaw.
Seeing this, Jesus said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!
25 Ka tangrengnaw ni Cathut uknaeram dawk a kâen hlak teh kalauk ni phuengvang kâkhu dawk a kâen e a yawihnawn atipouh.
It is easier, indeed, for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God!”
26 A lawk ka thai e taminaw ni, pawiteh apimaw rungngang lah kaawm han toung vaw, telah a pacei awh.
“Then who can be saved?” asked those who heard this.
27 Jisuh ni a dei pouh e teh, taminaw hanelah ka coung thai hoeh e naw hah Cathut hanelah teh a coung thai telah atipouh.
But Jesus said, “What is impossible with people is possible with God.”
28 Hatnavah Piter ni, khenhaw! kaimouh ni na hnukkâbang hanelah ka tawn e naw pueng ka ceitakhai teh na hnukkâbang awh toe, telah a ti.
“But we,” said Peter, “we left what belonged to us and followed you.”
29 Jisuh ni a dei e teh, Oe, na dei e atang, het heh ka dei. Cathut uknaeram kecu dawkvah im thoseh, na yu thoseh, hmaunawngha thoseh, manu hoi na pa thoseh, canaw thoseh buetbuet touh ka cettakhai e tami niteh,
“I tell you,” he answered, “that there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
31 Jisuh ni a hnukkâbang hlaikahni touh a kaw teh, thai awh haw, Jerusalem lah ka cei awh vaiteh hawvah profetnaw ni tami Capa e a kong a thut awh e pueng koung ka kuep han.
Gathering the Twelve around him, Jesus said to them, “Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem; and there everything that is written in the prophets will be done to the Son of Man.
32 Jentelnaw e kut dawkvah poe lah ao vaiteh ahnimouh ni a panuikhai han, a dudam awh han, tamtui hoi a tamthawi awh han.
For he will be given up to the Gentiles, mocked, insulted and spat on;
33 Bongpai hoi na hem awh vaiteh na thei a han, hatei apâthum hnin vah bout ka thaw han telah atipouh.
they will scourge him, and then put him to death; and on the third day he will rise again.”
34 A hnukkâbangnaw niyah hete kongnaw heh thai panuek awh hoeh, lawk dei ngainae a hro kecu dawkvah Jisuh ni a dei ngainae hah thai panuek awh hoeh.
The apostles did not comprehend any of this. His meaning was unintelligible to them and they did not understand what he was saying.
35 Jisuh teh Jeriko kho teng a pha navah mitdawn buet touh teh lam teng vah a tahung teh hnopai a hei.
As Jesus was getting near Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside, begging.
36 Taminaw a cei e a thai navah bang nama aw, telah a pacei.
Hearing a crowd going by, the man asked what was the matter;
37 Ahnimouh ni, Nazareth tami Jisuh a tho lahun telah a dei pouh.
and, when people told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing,
38 Hahoi a hram teh, Jisuh, Devit e capa na pahren haw, telah a ti.
he shouted out, “Jesus, Son of David, take pity on me!”
39 Hmalah kaawm e taminaw ni lawkkamuem awmh telah kâhruetcuetnae a poe. Hatei hoe kacailah a hram teh, Devit capa, na pahren haw telah a ti.
Those who were in front kept telling him to be quiet, but he continued to call out the louder, “Son of David, take pity on me!”
40 Hatdawkvah, Jisuh ni a kangdue teh mit ka dawn e tami kai koe thokhai awh, telah kâ a poe. Ateng a pha navah Jisuh ni a thaw teh, bangmaw sak seh ti na ngai, telah a pacei.
Then Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. And, when he had come close up to him, Jesus asked him,
41 Bawipa, mit ang han ka ngai, telah a dei pouh.
“What do you want me to do for you?” “Master,” he said, “I want to recover my sight.”
42 Jisuh ni, na mit ang naseh, na yuemnae ni na dam sak toe, telah atipouh.
And Jesus said, “Recover your sight, your faith has delivered you.”
43 Hat nah tahma vah a mit bout a ang. Cathut a pholen teh a hnuk a kâbang. Ka hmawt e taminaw pueng ni hai Cathut teh a pholen awh.
Instantly he recovered his sight, and began to follow Jesus, praising God. And all the people, on seeing it, gave glory to God.
