Thuchihbu 30
1 Jakeh chapa Agur thusei dohho hichea hi kiphong doh ahi. O Pakai keima kachol in kalhasam lheh tai.
These things says the man to them that trust in God; and I cease.
2 Keima mihem khat hina angol-a kahi, chule mihem thil hetkhen themna bang in hetkhenna kainei tapoi.
For I am the most simple of all men, and there is not in me the wisdom of men.
3 Keiman chihna thucheng kaja kha hih laijin, mithengpa kiti jong kaphongdoh kha naipoi.
God has taught me wisdom, and I know the knowledge of the holy.
4 Pathen tailou koiham vanna kal touva hung kumsuh kit? Koiham akhut tum’a huituh theija? Koiham aponsil a twi chun thei? Koiham vannoi pumpi sem? Ama chu amin ipi ham chule achapa min ipiham? Nang in vang nahet chetset ahi.
Who has gone up to heaven, and come down? who has gathered the winds in his bosom? who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? who has dominion of all the ends of the earth? what is his name? or what is the name of his children?
5 Pathen thucheng jouse hi adihsoh keijin, Ama henga kiselte ding in lum-in apang e.
For all the words of God are tried in the fire, and he defends those that reverence him.
6 Pathen seidohsa thucheng belap hih hel in, achuti louva ahileh aman naphosal ding; mijou nahi lo ding ahi.
Add not to his words, lest he reprove you, and you be made a liar.
7 O Pakai thilni kangai chae, kathi kahsen hiche thilni hi nei-it peh hihbeh in.
Two things I ask of you; take not favour from me before I die.
8 Amasan jouthu kaseilouna dingin neipan pin, aninan vaichatna le haona neipe hih in; keima nehkhop bep ding in neivah jing tan.
Remove far from me vanity and falsehood: and give me not wealth [or] poverty; but appoint me what is needful and sufficient:
9 Ajeh chu keima hung haobeh seh leng, “Pakai chu koiham?” tia nangma douna thu kasei lo ding; vaicha behseh kit leng kaguchat lo kit ding, Ka-Pathen mintheng kasuh thang bep ding ahi.
lest I be filled and become false, and say, Who sees me? or be poor and steal, and swear [vainly] by the name of God.
10 Soh chu apupa kom’a heh hih beh in, ajeh chu aman nahin sapset a naje lo thei ahi.
Deliver not a servant into the hands of his master, lest he curse you, and you be utterly destroyed.
11 Mi kimkhat chu apute apate gaosap ngam jong aum in, hijeh chun apite anute chan geijin phatthei achang pouve.
A wicked generation curse their father, and do not bless their mother.
12 Amaho mitmu jenga theng kisa jong aum uvin, hinlah athen lounauva kon in khatcha angim deh pouve.
A wicked generation judge themselves to be just, but do not cleanse their way.
13 Kimkhat machu amitmu uvin akichoi sang un, amit dang-chung uva chunglam ve jong aum un ahi.
A wicked generation have lofty eyes, and exalt themselves with their eyelids.
14 Amahon chemjam tobang ha hemtah anei jun, chule aha jouseu jong chemcha hemtah tobang ahin; leiset chunga vaichate bahgam ding angaito uvin, mihem lah’a neilalte bah gam din akigo uve.
A wicked generation have swords [for] teeth and jaw teeth [as] knives, so as to destroy and devour the lowly from the earth, and the poor of them from amongst men.
15 Vot’in nou ni anei jin, “Neipeh ben, neipeh ben,” ati lhon e. Chule chim louhel a thil thum aum in; thil in jong, “Alhingsel tai,” atideh pon ahi.
The horse-leech had three dearly beloved daughters: and these three did not satisfy her; and the fourth was not contented so as to say, Enough.
16 Noimigam achinga naobu ahin, leiset inla twi ducha jinga um, meika diuje jun la “Alhingsel tai,” atideh poi. (Sheol h7585)
The grave, and the love of a woman, and the earth not filled with water; water also and fire will not say, It is enough. (Sheol h7585)
17 Koi hileh apa mitche keh dan a, chule anu thua nung lou chu phaicham’a um va-ah ten akilo diu, mu-thong hon along aneh diu ahi.
The eye that laughs to scorn a father, and dishonours the old age of a mother, let the ravens of the valleys pick it out, and let the young eagles devour it.
18 Kei ding in thil thum hi datmah umtah ahin, chule kahet khen thei lou thil li aum in ahi.
Moreover there are three things impossible for me to comprehend, and the fourth I know not:
19 Vanlaijol’a muvanlai lenna lampi, Songpi chunga gul kitholna lampi, Twikhanglen lailunga touna-kong kitolna lampi, chule pasal khat in nungah khat alungset jidan.
the track of a flying eagle; and the ways of a serpent on a rock; and the paths of a ship passing through the sea; and the ways of a man in youth.
20 Numei-jong chondan hi hiti ahi: an anen, amuh akitheh jol loijin, “Keiman thil dihlou ima kabolpoi,” tin aseije.
Such is the way of an adulterous woman, who having washed herself from what she has done, says she has done nothing amiss.
21 Thil thum hin leiset ahot-ling jin, thil li vang leiset in athoh joupoi.
By three thing the earth is troubled, and the fourth it can’t bear:
22 Soh chu hung leng changa, chule mingol in a-oi vaset’a an anehji ahi.
if a servant reign; or a fool be filled with food;
23 Min adeilou numei chun jiding pasal akimudoh jia, soh numei jin apinu akhel jiteng,
or if a maidservant should cast out her own mistress; and if a hateful woman should marry a good man.
24 Leiset chunga thilneo li aum in, hiche thil li hohi achinga ching thei ahiuve.
And [there are] four very little things upon the earth, but these are wiser than the wise:
25 Sihmi tehi mihem ahilou vang un ahat thei lheh jeng un, nipilai sung sen neh ding akikhol khom jiuvin ahi.
the ants which are weak, and [yet] prepare [their] food in summer;
26 Boi ho jong hi mihem banga hat ahipouvin, hinlah songpi lah jenga jong ko akivu jiuvin ahi.
the rabbits also [are] a feeble race, who make their houses in the rocks.
27 Khaokho ten jong leng aneipouvin, hinlah agol gol chan akitol jiuve.
The locusts have no king, and [yet] march orderly at one command.
28 Daidep jong khu bailam tah’a nakhut a namat thei ahin, hiche jeng jong hi lengpa insunga cheng jing ahi.
And the eft, which supports itself by [its] hands, and is easily taken, dwells in the fortresses of kings.
29 Thil thum phatah’a kijot del aum un, chule thil li jong chu akalseu akitoh del in ahi.
And there are three things which go well, and a fourth which passes along finely.
30 Sa jouse lah’a keipi bahkai hi ahat pen ahin, imacha masanga anung chon ngaipoi.
A lion's whelp, stronger than [all other] beasts, which turns not away, nor fears [any] beast;
31 Ahpi lah ahiteng ahchal in agep lele ahin, kelchal ahin, kel-hon lamkaijin apang in, lengpan amite henga thu aseija ahin lamkaiji ahi.
and a cock walking in boldly amongst the hens, and the goat leading the herd; and a king publicly speaking before a nation.
32 Nangma mingol nahia, nang le nang kichoi sanga nahim, thilphalou khattou nangaitoa ahileh nakhut in nakam kisip chah jeng in.
If you abandon yourself to mirth, and stretch forth your hand in a quarrel, you shall be disgraced.
33 Ijeh-inem itileh bongnoi imeh leh bongnoi ha asodoh jin, chule nah hom isip sip teng thisan apotdoh jin, ilung ahan jinga ahileh kinahna jeng asohsah jin ahi.
Milk out milk, and there shall be butter, and if you wing [one's] nostrils there shall come out blood: so if you extort words, there will come forth quarrels and strifes.
