Thuchihbu 25
1 Hiche ho jong hi Solomon thuchih jeng ahina nalai jin, Judah lengpa Hezekiah phat laiya mihon ana jihdoh ahi.
These also are proverbs of Solomon [Peaceable, Recompense], which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah [Praised] copied out.
2 Thugil chintup nahi Pathen loupina ahin, chule thil kholdoh kiti jong hi lengte loupina ahi.
It is the kavod ·weighty glory· of God to conceal a thing, but the kavod ·weighty glory· of kings is to search out a matter.
3 Van mun jouse asandan le leiset athuh bang hin, lengte lungthim sung jeng jong koiman ahedoh joupoi.
As the heavens for height, and the earth for depth, so the hearts of kings are unsearchable.
4 Dangka’a kon in atheng lou jouse ladoh jeng in, thih khengpan bel-a khen ding atah chu aneinai.
Take away the dross from the silver, and material comes out for the refiner;
5 Lengpa thutanna mun’a kon chun migilou chu potdoh sah jeng in, chutileh lengpa laltouna mun’a chu thudih kiphut det thei ding ahi.
Take away the wicked from the king’s presence, and his throne will be established in righteousness.
6 Lengpa angsunga nama cham in chelut dan, chule milen ang-sunga jong kikum lut jeng hih in.
Don’t exalt yourself in the presence of the king, or claim a place among great men;
7 Hitia hi, “Hiche mun’a hin hung kal touvin,” tia min nahin kou masat ding chu thilpha ahi. Chule milen milal umna imacham tah’a lut jeng chu thilpha ahipoi.
for it is better that it be said to you, “Come up here,” than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, whom your eyes have seen.
8 Nangman thilkhat namu jeng man in, kihehna-in achun lhut jeng hih in, ajeh chu nahehpa chun najou henlang jumtale chun achaina ipi nabol ding hitam?
Don’t be hasty in bringing charges to court. What will you do in the end when your neighbor shames you?
9 Hiche sang chun, naheng nakompa toh chun nachung chang thu seikhom lhon in lang, thuguh kiti phot midang hetsah hih in.
Debate your case with your neighbor, and don’t betray the confidence of another;
10 Ajeh chu naseidoh’a midang khattou in jataleh aja khat chun, nahinle jumso nabep ding, chuteng namin setna chu beita lou ding ahi.
lest one who sh'ma ·hears obeys· it put you to shame, and your bad reputation never depart.
11 Kitoh dil-a kisei lha thei thu chu, dangka banga kigol sana ahi.
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
12 Mithusei phatah’a ngaipa ding in, adih a kiphona hi sanakol le sana pah-jem tobang ahi.
As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is the reproof of the wise to an sh'ma ·hearing obedient· ear.
13 Tahsan thei tah sottole sol khapa ding in, hiche sottole chu chang-at laiya buhbang votjen tobang ahin; hitobang sottole hi apupa lhagao lungthim sung kido jing na ahi.
As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to those who send him; for he refreshes the soul of his masters.
14 Thilpeh khat pe-dinga kitepna neija peloupa chu, huijin apohle meilom goa julha lou tobang ahi.
As clouds and wind without rain, so is he who boasts of gifts deceptively.
15 Thoh hattah’a natoh jeh’in vaihom khat jong akithu nun jou in, o nem heova thu kiseijin gu le chang jeng jong anemsah e.
By patience a ruler is persuaded. A soft tongue breaks the bone.
16 Khoiju nato teng aphabep don in, ajeh chu nachim behseh ding; achaina leh naloh lhah lo ding ahi.
Have you found honey? Eat as much as is sufficient for you, lest you eat too much, and vomit it.
17 Naheng nakom in-sunga che behseh hih in, ajeh chu nahin thei chim lo ding ahi.
Let your foot be seldom in your neighbor’s house, lest he be weary of you, and hate you.
18 Koi hileh aheng akom hehsea panga chu, galsat dinga mi koukhom le chemjam hemtah chule thalchanga kikap tobang ahi.
A man who gives false testimony against his neighbor is like a club, a sword, or a sharp arrow.
19 Gim le hesoh pet’a tahsan thei lou mikhat ngansena nei hi, habeija thilkhat kipet le keng phalou tollham chon-nal tobangbep ahibouve.
Confidence in someone unfaithful in time of trouble is like a bad tooth, or a lame foot.
20 Mi gim hesoh pet’a lasa’a chu, phalbi dap laiya mi ponsil lahpeh tobang ahi.
As one who takes away a garment in cold weather, or vinegar on soda, so is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.
21 Nagalmi chu agil akel teng nehding changlhah pen, chule adang achah leh don ding twi pen.
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat. If he is thirsty, give him water to drink:
22 Hitia nabol pehchu alujang dim a mei-al sunpeh nahin, natoh-ga Pakaiyin kipaman napeh tei ding ahi.
for you will heap burning coals [of shame] on his head, and Adonai will reward you.
23 Sahlam khohui’in go ajuhsah jin, min adalhah nunga seisea chun lungphamo pua mi avetji ahi.
The north wind produces rain: so a backbiting tongue brings an angry face.
24 Numei phunsi khat toh'in khat’a chen khom sang in, inting vum ningkoi khat’a ichangseh a chen aphajoi.
It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than to share a house with a contentious woman.
25 Gam latah’a pet thupha kija chu, dangchah pet’a twi votjen kidon tobang ahi.
Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
26 Midih khat in migilou khat pansatna ding lampi asempeh kiti chu, twisam putna le bonsan londohna twikun tobang ahi.
Like a muddied spring, and a polluted well, so is a upright man who gives way before the wicked.
27 Khoiju tamtah don jong aphapon, chule thuphalou tampi sei jong apha ahipoi.
It is not good to eat much honey; nor is it kavod ·weighty glory· to seek one’s own kavod ·weighty glory·.
28 Ama le ama kitim joulou michu, khopi chimsa apal jouse kivo lhua kidalha bep ahi.
Like a city that is broken down and without walls is a man whose spirit is without restraint.
