1 Insunga kiboina pum’a golvah bolsang in, an-keoseh kineh a lungmonga um aphajoi.
Better is a morsel with pleasure in peace, than a house [full] of many good things and unjust sacrifices, with strife.
2 Soh chingtah chu apupa chapa ahin, chule adihlouva chonpa chunga jong vaihom in apang jin, hiche sohpa chu apupa nei le gou aboncha achapate toh sopi khat banga kihom ding ahi.
A wise servant shall have rule over foolish masters, and shall divide portions amongst brethren.
3 Thil solna bel chu dangka solna kimang ahin, mei-khuh sung hi sana solna ahi. Hinlah Pakai hi lungput aboncha patepna ahi.
As silver and gold are tried in a furnace, so are choice hearts with the Lord.
4 Miphalou in akamsunga thilphalou seipa thusei bou angai nom in, chule mijou in jong jou le nal thoa leigui kilehpel chu angai nom in ahi.
A bad man hearkens to the tongue of transgressors: but a righteous man attends not to false lips.
5 Vaicha noisea tot chaveipa chun asempa Pathen ataitom ahin, mi vangset pat’a kipah chun gimbolna ato tei ding ahi.
He that laughs at the poor provokes him that made him; and he that rejoices at the destruction of another shall not be held guiltless: but he that has compassion shall find mercy.
6 Tehseho ding in atute hi alallukhuh-u ahin, chapate loupina hi apateu ahi.
Children's children are the crown of old men; and their fathers are the glory of children. The faithful has the whole world full of wealth; but the faithless not even a farthing.
7 Mingol ho din thu ngaitah’a kisei hi pannabei ahin, milen milal te ang sunga jou le nal’a thu kisei jong pannabei ahibouve.
Faithful lips will not suit a fool; nor lying lips a just man.
8 Aguh’a thilpeh kiti hi apepa din vangbohna tobang ahin, hijeh chun achena jousea khang ding ahi.
Instruction is to them that use it a gracious reward; and wherever it may turn, it shall prosper.
9 Koi hileh suhkhelna ngaidam thei chun, ngailutna angaichat jing ahin, hinlah miphul phul pan vang gol le pai akikhenpi jin ahi.
He that conceals injuries seeks love; but he that hates to hide [them] separates friends and kindred.
10 Mingol jakhat vei akichup sang in, thil hetthemna neipa ding in akihilna jeng jong asanji ahei.
A threat breaks down the heart of a wise man; but a fool, though scourged, understands not.
11 Engsetna nei mi chun doumah jeng ahol le jin, amatoh kitoh ding in sottol engse ahung lo jitai.
Every bad man stirs up strifes: but the Lord will send out against him an unmerciful messenger.
12 Mikhat in mingol khat angol pat’a akimaitopi sang in, savom nou akilo-doh nungsanga api kimaitopi aphajoi.
Care may befall a man of understanding; but fools will meditate evils.
13 Mihem in thilpha khat thilsea alethuh teng, a-insunga thilse cheng jing ding ahi.
Whoso rewards evil for good, evil shall not be removed from his house.
14 Kitoma ahung um teng twiput tobang'in ahung pot jin, ajeh chu kitomona aso masanga kikhen tel aphajoi.
Rightful rule gives power to words; but sedition and strife precede poverty.
15 Athemmo lha kanga athem-jo mo chansahna hileh, Pakai dinga anitah lhonna dei umlou ahi.
He that pronounces the unjust just, and the just unjust, is unclean and abominable with God.
16 Lungthimbei mingol in chihna kichohna ding sum akhol ngei poi.
Why has the fool wealth? for a senseless man will not be able to purchase wisdom. He that exalts his own house seeks ruin; and he that turns aside from instruction shall fall into mischief.
17 Golngai chun phattin in mi alungset in, sopi kiti hi akitho khom dinga hung peng ahi.
Have you a friend for every time, and let brethren be useful in distress; for on this account are they born.
18 Lungthim neilou mihem chu bat-san apang jin, hitichun aheng akom hoa batsah nan apang bep e.
A foolish man applauds and rejoices over himself, [as he] also that becomes surety would make himself responsible for his own friends.
19 Suhkhel ding ging lou mihem chun kinah baotam adei ahin, ain kotpi paopia kiletsah pan manthahna jeng agon ahibouve.
A lover of sin rejoices in strifes;
20 Mihem lungput dihlou kiti chu akhang thei pon, jou le nal seija pang kamsung jong vangsetna’a lhalut teiji ahi.
and the hard-hearted man comes not in for good. A man of a changeful tongue will fall into mischiefs;
21 Chapa ngol hi ahingpa dinga gimna bep ahin, hiche mingolpa hing chu akipah thei poi.
and the heart of a fool is grief to its possessor. A father rejoices not over an uninstructed son; but a wise son gladdens his mother.
22 Lung kipana hi damna pipen ahin, lamvaija um chu gu le chang dinga doulal um ahi.
A glad heart promotes health; but the bones of a sorrowful man dry up.
23 Thu adih a tan sang in, miphalou hon sum-guh ane jiuvin, thudih chu achekhel sah jitauve.
The ways of a man who unjustly receives gifts in [his] bosom do not prosper; and an ungodly man perverts the ways of righteousness.
24 Thil jouse hetthemna nei mi chun chihna lam jeng aven, ajon in, hinlah mingol chun leiset kol mang avelen ahi.
The countenance of a wise man is sensible; but the eyes of a fool [go] to the ends of the earth.
25 Chapa in apa lunggimna asodoh peh in, anu dinga gimna tah ahi.
A foolish son [is a cause of] anger to his father, and grief to her that bore him.
26 Midih ahilou lam’a leosah kiti apha pon, vaihom milen milal jep ding jong thildih ahipoi.
[It is] not right to punish a righteous man, nor [is it] holy to plot against righteous princes.
27 Thu kisei ngaija chu hetna anei jin, chule lungneng tah’a thusei mi chun hetkhenna anei ahi.
He that forbears to utter a hard word is discreet, and a patient man is wise.
28 Mingol jeng jong thipbeh cha aum teng, miching bang in akigel jin, hitobang michun akam akeh lou teng, miching tah bang in akigel-ji bouve.
Wisdom shall be imputed to a fool who asks after wisdom: and he who holds his peace shall seem to be sensible.
