AND Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.
2 Hiche Moab numei techun a Pathen kom uvah kilhan doh din atem uvin ahi. Israel mite chun akilhan na thilho’u chu ane uvin hiche a pathen angsung uvah jong abohkhup tauve.
And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.
3 Hiti pichun Israel miten Baal-Peor kiti ahou uchu ajop tauvin; Pathen lunghan na chu ahung deu jah jeng tai.
And Israel joined himself unto Baal-peor: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel.
4 Pathen in Mose chu a houlimpin hiche mite lamkai hohi kou khom un Pathen masang ah; sunkim laitah leh amaho hinkhom in alamkai na’u lahdoh pehtan, hiche jeh achu Israel mite chunga Pathen lunghanna aki chon mang thei na ding in, ati.
And the Lord said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the Lord against the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel.

And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baal-peor.
6 Hichun Israel mi khat nin Ama insung mite masanga Midian numei khat Mose masang laitah achun ahin puilut’e; Hichu Israel mipite chu houbuh masanga kap le maova aum lai tah u ahiye.
And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
7 Chuin Phinehas kiti Eleazer chapa Aaron thempu pa tupa chun amu phat in, Israel mipi kikhopna chu a dalhan, achom doh phut in, a khutna tengcha a kichoi jin ahi.
And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;

And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.

And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.
12 Tun ama ga seipeh un; Israel te chungah Cham le lungmon anei tah diuvin kitepna kabol e.
Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:
13 Ka kitepna ahin keiman Ama ahin Ama chilhah ho chunga atonsot na thempu phunga ka semdoh ding ahi ajeh chu Phenehas chu a Pathen ding’a thang tom tah a pang ahi tan Israel chate ding a ki suhtheng na maicham sem dohpa kiti ding ahi tai.
And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.
14 Midian numei toh thi khom pasal pa min chu Zimri ahin, Salu chapa ahin Simeon phung lamkai pa chilhah ho ahi.
Now the name of the Israelite that was slain, even that was slain with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a chief house among the Simeonites.
15 Chuleh Midian numei thina toh chu ahi leh Cozbi akitin Zur chanu ahin Zur chu ahile Midian te insung phung lamkai ahi.
And the name of the Midianitish woman that was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Midian.
16 Chuin PakaiyinMose henga thu hiti hin aseiyin ahi.
And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
17 Midian mite chu sugimtan chule amaho chunga gimna nalhunsah ding ahi, ati.
Vex the Midianites, and smite them:
18 Ajeh chu Moab mite in na suhgam thei’u ahin Peor Baal kimanchah na dung juiya Cozbi thua jong nabol sahtan, Midian te lamkai pa chanu jong chu pulla thi lo ahitai. Ijeh nam itileh Peor Baar jeh a hichu lhung ahiye.
For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Peor’s sake.
