John wore clothes made of camels’ hair, with a leather strap round his waist, and lived on locusts and wild honey;

and he proclaimed – ‘After me is coming someone more powerful than I am, and I am not fit even to stoop down and unfasten his sandals.
8 Keiman twiya baptize kachansah nahi uvin, ahivangin Ama chun nangho Lhagao Thenga baptize nachansah diu ahi!” ati.
I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.’

Now about that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
10 Chuin Yeshua twi lah-a konin ahungdoh in, van akikehson Lhagao Theng vakhu bang in achungah ahungchu e.
Just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens split open and the Spirit coming down to him like a dove,

and from the heavens came a voice – ‘You are my dearly loved son; you bring me great joy.’
12 Chuin Lhagaochun gamthip'a apuimang paiyin,
Immediately afterwards the Spirit drove Jesus out into the wilderness;
13 Chua chun ni somli Satan lhep patep in aum in, gamsa ho laha aum in, vantil hon avengkol un ahi.
and he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and among the wild beasts, while the angels helped him.
14 Phat chomkhat jouvin John songkul'a akhum jou un, Yeshua Galilee gamah achen, Pathen Kipana Thupha ahil lhanglen,
After John had been arrested, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God –

‘The time has come, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe the good news.’
16 Nikhat Yeshuan Galilee Dillen pang ajotpana ah ngaman'a kivah le nehhol, Simon le asopipa Andrew chun dillen a ngamatna len anase lhon aga tohkhan ahi.
As Jesus was going along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net in the sea, for they were fishermen.
17 Yeshuan akou doh in, “Kanung hinjui lhon in, keiman miho matje nahil lhon inge!” atin ahi.
‘Come and follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will teach you to fish for people.’

They left their nets at once, and followed him.
19 Chuin twipanga kon themkhat ache chon jepleh Yeshuan Zebedee chapateni, James le anaopa John chun kong sunga len ana khuiphat pet lhon amun,
Going on a little further, he saw James, Zebedee’s son, and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets.

Jesus called them at once, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the crew, and went after him.
21 Yeshua le akilhonpiho Capernaum khopiah achelut'un ahi. Cholngahni ahung lhunchun houin'ah ache uvin, hia chun thu ahil pantan ahi.
They walked to Capernaum. On the next Sabbath Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.
22 Aman danthu sunho banga hillouva, thuneitah banga ahil jeh'in miho chun athuhil chu kidang asalheh-un ahi.
The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught them like one who had authority, and not like the teachers of the Law.
23 Chuin hetloukah'in lhagao-boh vop mikhat houin'ah anaum in, ama chun ahin sampaiyin,
Now there was in their synagogue at the time a man under the power of a foul spirit, who called out,
24 “Nazareth Yeshua, ipi dinga kalah'uva hung kikum nahim? Keiho suchimit dinga hung nahim? Nangma koi nahi kahenai—Pathen Theng chu nahi!” ati.
‘What do you want with us, Jesus the Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!’
25 Yeshuan amachu aphoh in, “Thip in! Ama a kon chun hungdoh in,” tin thu apen ahi.
But Jesus rebuked the spirit, ‘Be silent! Come out from him.’
26 Chuin lhagaoboh chun mipa chu aheh-in, hapen in apeng in ahung potdoh tai.
The foul spirit threw the man into a fit, and with a loud cry came out from him.

They were all so amazed that they kept asking each other, ‘What is this? What is this, a new kind of teaching? He gives his commands with authority even to the foul spirits, and they obey him!’
28 Yeshua Christa thu chu Galilee gamsung pumpiah aki thangsoh pai jeng tan ahi.
His fame spread at once in all directions, through the whole region of Galilee.
29 Kikhopna in chu Yeshuan James le John toh adalhah jouvin Simon le Andrew in'ah alut un ahi.
As soon as they had left the synagogue, they went to the house of Simon and Andrew, along with James and John.

In the evening, after sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who were ill or possessed by demons;

Jesus cured many who were ill with various diseases, and drove out many demons, and would not permit them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.
35 Khovahlhah masang ajing jingkah-in Yeshua athouvin, apotdoh in gamthip munah achen, chua chun taona agamang in ahi.
In the morning, long before daylight, Jesus got up and went out to a lonely spot, where he began to pray.

But Simon and his companions went out searching for him;

and, when they found him, they exclaimed, ‘Everyone is looking for you!’
38 Yeshuan adonbut in “Khopi danga jong kahil lhangle theina din che ute, hiche dinga chu hung kahi,” ati.
But Jesus said to them, ‘Let us go somewhere else, into the country towns nearby so that I can make my proclamation in them also; for that was why I came.’
39 Chuin Galilee gam sungsea achelen, akikhop nau intin'ah thu ahil lhanglen chule thilha adel dohpeh in ahi.

One day a leper came to Jesus and, falling on his knees, begged him for help. ‘If only you are willing,’ he said, ‘you are able to make me clean.’
41 Athusei chun alung atohkhah behseh jeh in, Yeshuan akhut alhang in atham in, “Kalung ahi,” atitai. Chuin, “Damthengtan!” ati leh,
Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying as he did so, ‘I am willing; become clean.’
42 Apetpet'in aphah chu aphapai jengin, adamtheng tai.
Instantly the leprosy left the man, and he became clean;
43 Chuin amapa chu khamgahna aneiyin asoldohtai.
and then Jesus, after sternly warning him, immediately sent him away,
44 “Hichehi koima komah seidoh hih in. Hisang chun thempu koma chen lang gakivetsah'in. Mose dan thupehsa dungjuiya phah kijen damhon maicham thilto apeh ding dol chu choiyin lang gape tan. Hichu nadam thengna mipi het'a phondohna hiding ahi,” tin thupeh aneiyin ahi.
and said to him, ‘Be careful not to say anything to anyone; but go and show yourself to the priest, and make the offerings for your cleansing directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.’
45 Ahivang in amapa apotdoh in, thil umdol chu aseiphongle tan ahi. Hichea kon chun Yeshua chu mipin aum kimvelle jeng tan, hijeh chun lhangphong in khopi sunga alut thei tapoi. Hichun munthip thip lah-a aumjo tan, ahijeng vang'in muntina kon in mipin ahin jonlut jing nalaiyun ahi.
The man, however, went away, and began to speak about it publicly, and to spread the story so widely, that Jesus could no longer go openly into a town, but stayed outside in lonely places; and people came to him from every direction.
