< Luke 12 >

1 Hiche pet chun, mihonpi chu asang ajan ahung khang in akisucheh chuh un chule khat le khat kichonkha ton aumun, Yeshuan hichun aseijuite henglam ahin ngan agih sal in, “Pharisee ho chol a konin kihong phauvin”—aphat lhemnauva kon'in.
Meanwhile the people had gathered in thousands, so that they trod upon one another, when Jesus, addressing himself to his disciples, began by saying to them: “Be on your guard against the leaven — that is, the hypocrisy — of the Pharisees.
2 Phat ahung lhunge, thil akikhukhum jouse kiphongdoh ding ahi, chule aguh'a umjouse jong mijouse koma kihetsah ding ahi.
There is nothing, however covered up, which will not be uncovered, nor anything kept secret which will not become known.
3 Muthim'a nasei jouseu chu khovah a kija ding ahi, chule kot kikhakhum na a olcha nakiseipeh toujong chu inchunga mijouse jah'a kisamphong ding ahi! Gin Ding Koipen Ham?
Hence all that you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear, within closed doors, will be proclaimed upon the housetops.
4 “Ngailut umtah jol le gol te, natahsa that thei hochu kicha hih'un.” Hiche jou le chun nachungah ima abolthei tapouve.
To you who are my friends I say, Do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but after that can do no more.
5 Ahin kichat ding koi ham naseipeh unge. Pathen kichauvin, aman nangho tha nathei le damun'a lelut nathei thilboltheina tha anei ahi. Henge, ama ahi kichat ding. (Geenna g1067)
I will show you of whom you should be afraid. Be afraid of him who, after killing you, has the power to fling you into the Pit. Yes, I say, be afraid of him. (Geenna g1067)
6 “Vasah nga man ijat ham–paisa ni man ham?” Ahin Pathen in khat jeng jong asumil pon ahi.
Are not five sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them has escaped God’s notice.
7 Chuleh nalu'a na samjang ho jengjong aboncha kisimtoh soh ahitai. Hijeh chun kicha hih'un; nangma vasah honpi jouse sanga manlujo nahi.
No, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.
8 Kaseipeh nahiuve, koi hileh hiche leiset'a lhangphonga keima eiseidoh chan chu, Mihem Chapan jong Pathen Vantilte jaona'a aseidoh ding ahi.
Every one, I tell you, who shall acknowledge me before his fellow men, the Son of Man, also, will acknowledge before God’s angels;
9 Amavang koi hileh hiche leiset'a eiseilep chan chu Pathen Vantilte masanga kiseilep diu ahi.
but he, who disowns me before his fellow men, will be altogether disowned before God’s angels.
10 Koihileh Mihem Chapa douna thusei chan chu kingaidam ding ahi, amavang koi hileh Lhagao Theng taitom'ah vang chu kingaidam louding ahi.
Every one who shall say anything against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but for him who slanders the Holy Spirit there will be no forgiveness.
11 “Chuleh kikhopna in'a vaipo hole thuneiho anga athu tan dinga nahin kai teng uleh, iti nakiven ding ham ahiloule ipi nasei ding thu ah lunggim hih un.
Whenever they take you before the Synagogue Courts or the magistrates or other authorities, do not be anxious as to how you will defend yourselves, or what your defence will be, or what you will say;
12 Ajeh chu Lhagao Theng chun apettah a seiding napeh diu ahi,” ati.
for the Holy Spirit will show you at the moment what you ought to say.”
13 Chuin koiham khat'in mipi lah'a kon chun ahin kouvin, “Houhil, kasopipa jah'a kapa nei le gou eikihoppi nadingin seiyin,” ati.
“Teacher,” a man in the crowd said to Jesus, “tell my brother to share the property with me.”
14 Yeshuan adonbut'in, “Jol, kon nangni kah'a thutan'a eipansah'a, hiti khati iti kagel lhah ding ham?” ati.
But Jesus said to him: “Man, who made me a judge or an arbiter between you?”
15 Chuin aman aseiben, “Chingtheiyun! Neipap kiloset kiti jouseah kivengun. Hinkho hi naneijat a kisim ahipoi,” ati.
And then he added: “Take care to keep yourselves free from every form of covetousness; for even in the height of his prosperity a man’s true Life does not depend on what he has.”
16 Chuin aman thusim khat aseipeh tai: “Mihao khat hin loumun khat, alei phatah, ga hoitah tah sodoh aneiyin ahi.
Then Jesus told them this parable — “There was once a rich man whose land was very fertile;
17 Amapa achangin akihoulim in, ‘Ipi kabol ding hitam? Ka lousoh ga jouse koina ding mun la kanei pon,’” ati.
and he began to ask himself ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?
18 Chuin aman aseiyin, Kahetai! Kachangsal jouse phelhangting asanga lenjo cheh thahsah inge. Chutileh keiman ka chang le mim jouse kholkhomna ding dan ninglhingset in nei tange.
This is what I will do,’ he said; ‘I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and store all my grain and my goods in them;
19 Chutengleh keima nomtah'a katouva keima le keiman hitia hi kasei ding ahi, “Kajol, nangman kumsottah a ding ninglhing set'a kikhol khom naneiye. Tun lung olmo hih in! nen lang, don'in lang, chule kipah in!” tinge ati.
and I will say to myself, Now you have plenty of good things put by for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and enjoy yourself.’
20 Ahivangin Pathen in amapa jah'a chun, “Mingol! Tujan ma ma'a nathi ding ahitai. Chuteng leh nanatoh ga jouse hi koi chang tantem?” ati.
But God said to the man ‘Fool! This very night your life is being demanded; and as for all you have prepared — who will have it?’
21 “Henge, lei gouthil bouseh kholkhom'a Pathen toh haosatah'a kiguijopna neilou mi chu angol ahi” ati.
So it is with those who lay by wealth for themselves and are not rich to the glory of God.”
22 Chuin, aseijuite kom lang ngan Yeshuan aseitai, “Hiche jeh'a hi keiman nitin hinkho a dingin lunggim hih'un kati ahi”—neh le chah ninglhing set'a chule sil le chen lhingset'a kanei ding hinam tin.
And Jesus said to his disciples: “That is why I say to you, Do not be anxious about the life here — what you can get to eat; nor yet about your body — what you can get to wear.
23 Ajeh chu hinkho hi anneh ding sanga lujo, chule natahsa jong sille chen sanga lujo ahi.
For life is more than food, and the body than its clothes.
24 Va-ah ho khu veuvin, amahon tula atu pouvin, at la a-at pouvin ahiloule khol la akholkhom pouvin, ajeh chu Pathen in avahnai. Chule nangho vacha ho sanga ama dinga loupijo nahiuve!
Think of the ravens — they neither sow nor reap; they have neither storehouse nor barn; and yet God feeds them! And how much more precious are you than birds!
25 Nalunggim nau jousen nahinkho phat bihkhat ajopbe theiyem?
But which of you, by being anxious, can prolong his life a moment?
26 Chule lunggim nan imacha chutobang thil neocha jong alolhin sah theilouleh, thil lentah chunga jong lunggim chu ipi phachom ding ham?
And, if you cannot do even the smallest thing, why be anxious about other things?
27 “Lily pah ho le akhan doh dan khu veuvin. Amahon na jong atong pouvin chule avon hou jong akisem thei pouvin, ahin, Solomon jeng jong, aloupina jouse a akivon chun amaho tobang lom'in ahoijou poi.
Think of the lilies, and how they grow. They neither toil nor spin; yet, I tell you, even Solomon in all his splendour was not robed like one of these.
28 Chuleh Pathen in pahcha ho tunia uma jing a meilhum sunga selut ding bon kidangtah'a akhohsah'a ahileh, aman nangma thonlouva nakhohsah teitei ding ahi. Ipi bol'a hibanga tahsan na neo hi naneiyu ham?”
If, even in the field, God so clothes the grass which is living to-day and to-morrow will be thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O men of little faith!
29 “Chuleh ipi kaneh ding ham ipi kadon ding ham tin lungboi hih'un. Hiche ho thil'a chun lunggim hih'un.
And you — do not be always seeking what you can get to eat or what you can get to drink; and do not waver.
30 Hiche thil hohin vannoi pumpia atahsanlou ho lungsung alodim'in ahi, ahivangin Napauvin nangaichat changseu chu ahemasa jitai.
These are the things for which all the nations of the world are seeking, and your Father knows that you need them.
31 Pathen lenggam chu thil jouse sangin hol'un, chule aman nangaichat chan'u napeh diu ahi.”
No, seek his Kingdom, and these things shall be added for you.
32 “Hijeh chun kicha hih'un, hon lhom ho, ajeh chu nangho lenggam peh ding hi napau dinga kipana lentah ahi.”
So do not be afraid, my little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the Kingdom.
33 “Nanei nagou ho joh'un lang angaicha ho peuvin. Hichun van'a gou nakhol peh dingu ahi! Chule van-gam a sumdip hon chultih aneipouvin chule atovang aum khapoi. Nagou khol chu bitkeiya umding ahi; guchan jong aguhmang theilou ding ahi chule nget'in jong asuhset thei lou ding ahi.”
Sell what belongs to you, and give in charity. Make yourselves purses that will not wear out — an inexhaustible treasure in Heaven, where no thief comes near, or moth works ruin.
34 Nanei nagou umna'a chu nalung ngaichat jong aum ding ahi. Hetman Louva Yeshua Hung Kit Ding
For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.
35 “Natohna dingin kivontup san umun chule nathaomei vahjing'un;
Make yourselves ready, with your lamps alight;
36 Na Pakai pa moupui golvah na'a kon ahung kile ding nanga bangin. Chutileh ahung lhun'a kot ahinsuh teng leh kot nahonpeh a nalutsah thei nadia phasadema naum ding ahi.
and be like men who are waiting for their Master’s return from his wedding, so that, when he comes and knocks, they may open the door for him at once.
37 Soh ho kiging jinga umho le ahung kile ding ngah jing ho chu kipaman kipediu ahi. Thutah kaseipeh nahiuve, amatah in amaho chu atousah ding, atai akikhi ding, amaho chu atou uva aneh laiyuva chu ajen ding ahi.
Happy are those servants whom, on his return, the Master will find watching. I tell you that he will make himself ready, and bid them take their places at table, and will come and wait upon them.
38 Ama jankim lah ahilou le khovah kon'a hung maithei ahi. Ahin, ahung pet a kiging jinga um sohte chu kipaman apehding ahiuve.”
Whether it is late at night, or in the early morning that he comes, if he finds all as it should be, then happy are they.
39 “Hiche hi hethem in, in-neipan itih phatchet'a gucha hung ding ham ti heleh, aman a-in chu veihonga aumsah lou ding ahi.
This you do know, that, had the owner of the house known at what time the thief was coming, he would have been on the watch, and would not have let his house be broken into.
40 Nangjong kiging jinga naum jing ding ahi ijeh inem itile Mihem Chapa chu naginchat lou pettah uva hung ding ahi,” ati.
Do you also prepare, for when you are least expecting him the Son of Man will come.”
41 Peter in adong in, “Pakai hiche thutekah chu keihoa ding bou hai mijousea ding ham?” ati.
“Master,” said Peter, “are you telling this parable with reference to us or to every one?”
42 Chuin Pakaiyin adonbut in, “Soh kitah le lung limgeh chu apakai pan insung pumpi le sohdang ho chunga jong mopohna apeh'a avahsah ho chu ahi.
“Who, then,” replied the Master, “is that trustworthy steward, the careful man, who will be placed by his master over his establishment, to give them their rations at the proper time?
43 Apakai pa ahung kile a asohpan na phatah'a atoh ahung mu leh, kipaman umding ahi.”
Happy will that servant be whom his master, when he comes home, shall find doing this.
44 Thutah kaseipeh nahiuve, hitobang soh chu apakai pan anei jouse chunga mopohna apehding ahi.
His master, I tell you, will put him in charge of the whole of his property.
45 Ahinlah, iti tantem asohpa chun, “Kapakai pa hi tem'in hung ponte” tin gelhen lang, asohdang ho vo hen, neh nom ne hen, ju kham kham jeng taleh?
But should that servant say to himself ‘My master is a long time coming,’ and begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and get drunk,
46 Apakai pachu seiphong masa lou leh ginchat umlou pettah in hungin tin, chuteng aman asohpa chu asat goi goi ding mikitah louho toh asolmang tha ding ahitai.
that servant’s master will come on a day when he does not expect him, and at an hour of which he is unaware, and will flog him severely and assign him his place among the untrustworthy.
47 “Chule soh khat apakai pa dei he'a, ahivanga kigongtup lou chule akihilchah na ho tongdoh lou chu, nasatah a bolgimna ato ding ahi.
The servant who knows his master’s wishes and yet does not prepare and act accordingly will receive many lashes;
48 Ahivanga ahelou khattou chun thilse abol leh, ama chu gihsa louva kigimbol ding ahi. Koiham khat chu tamtah akipeh le, ama a kona chu tamtah kile ngeh ding ahi; chuleh khattou chu mopohna tamtah akipeh le, asanga tamjo chu kingeh ding ahi.”
while one who does not know his master’s wishes, but acts so as to deserve a flogging, will receive but few. From every one to whom much has been given much will be expected, and from the man to whom much has been entrusted the more will be demanded.
49 “Keima vannoi hi meiya tih dinga kahung ahi, chule akoudoh hitaleh katilheh jenge!
I came to cast fire upon the earth; and what more can I wish, if it is already kindled?
50 Keiman thoh hahsa tah baptize chanding kamakho'ah kaneiye chule hichu akimolso kah a kalung khamna iti san tam!
There is a baptism that I must undergo, and how great is my distress until it is over!
51 Leiset a chamna hinpo dinga hunga nei gel'um? Ahipoi, keima miho kibung khensah dia hung'ah kahi!
Do you think that I am here to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but to cause division.
52 Tua pat'a insung ho kikhentel diu ahitai, thum'in eijop uva, nin eidoudal ding–ahiloule nin eijop'a thum'in eidou ding ahi.
For from this time, if there are five people in a house, they will be divided, three against two, and two against three.
53 Mipa chu chapa douna'a chule chapa chu mipa douna a kibungkhen ding ahi; chanu douna minu chule minu douna'a chanu; chuleh ateh in mou douna chule mouvin ateh douna'a kikhenna um ding ahi” ati. Phat Kihei-Dan Hetna
‘Father will be opposed to son and son to father, mother to daughter and daughter to mother, mother-in-law to her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law to her mother-in-law.’”
54 Chuin Yeshuan mihonpi lam aven aseiye, “Nanghon meibol lhumlam langa ahung umdoh phat le, nasei jiuvin, ‘go hung juding ahi’ natiuve. Chuleh nangho nadih uve.
And to the people Jesus said: “When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once ‘There is a storm coming,’ and come it does.
55 Lhanglam hui ahung nun teng leh, naseijiuvin, ‘Tuni chu salheh ding ahi’ natiuvin, chule achuti ji'e.
And when you see that the wind is in the south, you say ‘It will be burning hot,’ and so it proves.
56 Nangho mingolho! nanghon leiset chunga van umje nasuto theiyun, ahin nanghon tuphat umdan naledoh thei pouve.”
Hypocrites! You know how to judge of the earth and the sky; how is it, then, that you cannot judge of this time?
57 “Ipi jeh'a nangho dinga adih chu naki gellhah thei lou u ham?”
Why do not you yourselves decide what is right?
58 “Nangho thukitanna muna nahehse hou toh nache teng uleh, amun nalhun masang in kihoutoh pi ding gon. Achuti louleh thutan vaihompa masanga nahehse pan nakai ding, aman vaipopa henga napehdoh a, aman songkul'a nakhum ding ahi.
When, for instance, you are going with your opponent before a magistrate, on your way to the court do your best to be quit of him; for fear that he should drag you before the judge, then the judge will hand you over to the bailiff of the court, and the bailiff throw you into prison.
59 Chule hichu aso leh nangman achainapen sum geiya napeh doh masang sea itinama jong leh nakilhadoh louhel ding ahi,” ati.
You will not, I tell you, come out until you have paid the very last farthing.”
