< Job 2 >

1 Nikhat van thutanna in na miho chu acham tah uvin Pakai masangah ahung kilah kit uvin, hiche a chun hehhatpa Satan chu amaho lah a ahung pange.
And it came to pass on a certain day, that the angels of God came to stand before the Lord, and the devil came amongst them to stand before the Lord.
2 “Hoiya konna hung nahim?” tin Pakaiyin Satan adonge. Satan in Pakai chu adonbut in, “Keiman leiset kaga khollen; thilsoh jouse kaga velhan ahi” ati.
And the Lord, said to the devil, Whence come you? Then the devil said before the Lord, I am come from going through the world, and walking about the whole earth.
3 Hichun Pakaiyin Satan adongin, “Kasohpa Job khu namu tah em? Amahi leiset chunga dinga miphapen ahin, nolnabei, milung thengsel ahi, Pathen agingin thilse jouse a konna kikangse jing mi ahi, ajeh beija nangin amakhu chonset sah teidinga nagot vang'in tunjong lungtheng sellin aum jinge,” ati.
And the Lord said to the devil, Hast you then observed my servant Job, that there is none of [men] upon the earth like him, a harmless, true, blameless, godly man, abstaining from all evil? and he yet cleaves to innocence, whereas you has told [me] to destroy his substance without cause?
4 Satan in Pakai adonbut in “Vun dinga vun ahi, mihem khat in ahinkho ahuhdohna dinga anei agou jouse apeh doh teiding ahi.
And the devil answered and said to the Lord, Skin for skin, all that a man has will he give as a ransom for his life.
5 Ahin, nakhut lhangin lang adamtheina khu lahmang peh le chun namaichang laitaha nagaosap tei ding ahi!” ati.
Nay, but put forth your hand, and touch his bones and his flesh: verily he will bless you to [your] face.
6 “Aphai, amapa chunga hin nalungdei tah boltan; ahin ahinkho vang khen peh in,” tin Pakaiyin Satan aseipeh e.
And the Lord said to the devil, Behold, I deliver him up to you; only save his life.
7 Hijeh chun Satan chun Pakai angsung adalhan, chule Job chu nat hoisetah uilut alujanga kipat akengto geijin a onglai beihellin aphah sahtai.
So the devil went out from the Lord, and struck Job with sore boils from [his] feet to [his] head.
8 Job in atahsa vun chu bel hallin akhot in vut bollah a atouve.
And he took a potsherd to scrape away the discharge, and sat upon a dung-heap outside the city.
9 “Tuchan geija lungtheng sella naum jing nahlai ding ham? Pathen chu gaosap in lang thijengin,” tin ajinun Job jah a chun aseije.
Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
10 Ahinlah Job in adonbut in, “Nangin numei ngol khat thusei bangin naseije, Pathen khutna konna chu einin thil pha jeng jeng ikisanna chule thilse kisan louva ium ding ham?” ati. Thilsoh hijat chunga jong hin Job in thilse aseipoi.
But he looked on her, and said to her, You have spoken like one of the foolish women. If we have received good things of the hand of the Lord, shall we not endure evil things? In all these things that happened to him, Job sinned not at all with his lips before God.
11 Job agolte thum hon lungset umtah anat thohgim thu ajahdoh phat uvin ama ama in cheh a konin alhamon dingle alhembi dingin thakhat'in ahung kikhom uve. Amin hou chu Teman mi Eliphaz, Shuh mi Bildad chule Naamath mi Zophar ahiuve.
Now his three friends having heard of all the evil that was come upon him, came to him each from his own country: Eliphaz the king of the Thaemans, Baldad sovereign of the Saucheans, Sophar king of he Minaeans: and they came to him with one accord, to comfort and to visit him.
12 Amahon galla konna Job ahinmu u chun alim amel jong ahethei tapouve. Alung gentheihu nau vetsahna in akap loi loi jengun, aluchung uva huilah a chun leivui atheuvin ahi.
And when they saw him from a distance they did not know him; and they cried with a loud voice, and wept, and tore every one his garment, and sprinkled dust upon [their heads],
13 Chuti chun nisagi leh jan sagi tolla atou piuvin, anat genthei hoiset behseh amujeh u chun khatna khatcha jong Job koma thu chengkhat jeng cha seija jong aumpouve; ijeh inem itile anat chu hoise asah behseh jengu ahi.
and they sat down beside him seven days and seven nights, and no one of them spoke; for they saw that his affliction was dreadful and very great.
