< Jeremiah 36 >

1 Judah lengpa Josiah chapa Jehoiakim lengvaipoh kumli lhinkum in, Pakaiyin Jeremiah henga thu hitin aseiye.
In the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
2 Nangman lekhajol khat kilah inlang, Josiah leng khanga pat tuni geiya keiman Israel leh Judah douna kathusei ho chule namtin vaipi douna kathusei ho abon'in jihlut in.
“Take a scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah, and all the nations, from the day I first spoke to you during the reign of Josiah until today.
3 Chuteng Judah ten achunguva kabolgut thilse hohi avel a akijah doh kit uva, akisih uva setna lampia kon’a ahung kilekit uva ahileh, keiman amaho chonsetna leh athemmonau kangaidam ding ahi, ati.
Perhaps when the people of Judah hear about all the calamity I plan to bring upon them, each of them will turn from his wicked way. Then I will forgive their iniquity and their sin.”
4 Chuin Jeremiah in Neriah chapa Baruch chu akouvin, Pakaiyin ahenga aseipeh jouse chu abonchan akam in aseiyin, Baruch in lekhajol khat a ajihluttai.
So Jeremiah called Baruch son of Neriah, and at the dictation of Jeremiah, Baruch wrote on a scroll all the words that the LORD had spoken to Jeremiah.
5 Hichun Jeremiah in Baruch jah’a, “Keima songkul'a kihen bangin kaum in, Pakai houin sunga kavahlut theitapoi,”
Then Jeremiah commanded Baruch, “I am restricted; I cannot enter the house of the LORD;
6 Hijeh chun nangma houin sunga naga cheding, anngol jou ajing nikholeh, Pakaiya hungkon hiche thuho, keiman kaseitho a nangma lekhajol a kajihlutsah hohi, naga simdoh ding ahi. Hitia chu, Judah gamsung jousea kon’a hungdoh mipite jousen ajah diuva, nasimpeh ding ahi.
so you are to go to the house of the LORD on a day of fasting, and in the hearing of the people you are to read the words of the LORD from the scroll you have written at my dictation. Read them in the hearing of all the people of Judah who are coming from their cities.
7 Chutile amahon achennau lamsea kon’a hung kihei kit uva, ageisang behseh masang a, Pakai henga ngaidam athumdiu ahi. ajeh chu, Pakai lunghanna chu akhohse behseh jengin, amaho dingin kichat tijat umval jeng ahi, ati.
Perhaps they will bring their petition before the LORD, and each one will turn from his wicked way; for great are the anger and fury that the LORD has pronounced against this people.”
8 Hichun Jeremiah thupeh bang chun, Baruch in agabol in, houin sunga alut in, mipiho jah dingin, Pakai thusei kijihlut hochu abonchan agasimdoh pihtai.
So Baruch son of Neriah did everything that Jeremiah the prophet had commanded him. In the house of the LORD he read the words of the LORD from the scroll.
9 Hiche hi, Josiah chapa Jehoiakim lengvaipoh kumnga lhinkum, lhako lhinna, anngol nikho khat’a, Baruch in abol ahi. Hiche nikho chu Judah gamsung pumpia kon’a mi tampi, Jerusalem houin’a chu hungkhomji, ahiuve.
Now in the ninth month of the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, a fast before the LORD was proclaimed to all the people of Jerusalem and all who had come there from the cities of Judah.
10 Chuin mipijouse jah dingin, lekhajol’a kijihlut Jeremiah thusei hochu abon'in, Baruch in asimdoh sohkeiyin ahi. Hichepet a chu ama houin maiya, houin sunga lekhasunpa Gemariah, Shaphan chapa indan sunga um ahin, hichu Pakai houin lutna kelkot thah kom cha ahi.
From the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, which was in the upper courtyard at the opening of the New Gate of the house of the LORD, Baruch read from the scroll the words of Jeremiah in the hearing of all the people.
11 Shaphan chapa Gemariah, Gemariah chapa Micaiah chun lekhajol sunga kon’a Pakai thusei kiphongdoh ho chu abonchan ajah soh phat in;
When Micaiah son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, heard all the words of the LORD from the scroll,
12 Ama achesuh in, leng inpia lekha sunpan indan sunga alut in, gamvaipo ho toukhomna-a chun aluttai. Hiche mun’a umho chu: Lekha sunpa Elishama, Shemaiah chapa Delaiah, Acbor chapa Elnathan, Shaphan chapa Geramiah, Hananiah chapa Zedekiah chule midang jong ahiuve.
he went down to the scribe’s chamber in the king’s palace, where all the officials were sitting: Elishama the scribe, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the other officials.
13 Micaiah chun, houin mun’a Baruch in lekhajol asimdoh’a athujol ho chu abonchan, amaho chu aseipehtan ahi.
And Micaiah reported to them all the words he had heard Baruch read from the scroll in the hearing of the people.
14 Chuin vaipoten, Nethaniah chapa Jehudi, Shelemiah tupa, Cushi tusonpa chu, Baruch henga asol in, ama jah’a, ‘Nangman mipite jah dinga nasimdoh lekhajol chu hinchoi inlang, keiho kom’a hungsimdoh kit in,’tin aga seisahtauve. Hichun Baruch in a lekhajol chu ahin kichoiyin, vaipote henga chun ahungtai.
Then all the officials sent word to Baruch through Jehudi son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, saying, “Bring the scroll that you read in the hearing of the people, and come here.” So Baruch son of Neriah took the scroll and went to them.
15 Chuin amahon Baruch jah’a, “Touvin, nalekhajol chu keiho jah dingin simkit in,” atiuvin ahi. Baruch injong aseibangu chun asimpehtai.
“Please sit down,” they said, “and read it in our hearing.” So Baruch read it in their hearing.
16 Amahon thu kisun ho chu ajah phat un, atijauvin khatle khat akiveto jeng uvin ahi. Hichun amahon Baruch jah’a, “Hiche thu hohi lengpa iseipeh teitei diu ahi,” atiuve.
When they had heard all these words, they turned to one another in fear and said to Baruch, “Surely we must report all these words to the king.”
17 Ahivangin, amahon Baruch chu thu adongun, Nangman thu hijat hi hoiya nalah ham, Jeremiah in najihsah ham? atiuvin ahi.
“Tell us now,” they asked Baruch, “how did you write all these words? Was it at Jeremiah’s dictation?”
18 Baruch in adonbut in, “Jeremiah in thucheng khat khat a aseiya, keiman hiche lekhajol’a hi kajihlut ahi,” ati.
“It was at his dictation,” Baruch replied. “He recited all these words to me and I wrote them in ink on the scroll.”
19 Chuphat in amahon, “Nang jong Jeremiah jong, nanilhon in kiseldoh lhontan. Naumna lhon koimacha hetsah lhon hih in,” atiuvin ahi.
Then the officials said to Baruch, “You and Jeremiah must hide yourselves and tell no one where you are.”
20 Chuin vaipo ho chun, lekhasunpa Elishama indan sunga alut un, lekhajol chu akoitup tauve. Chule athu jouse chu lengpa kom alhut tauvin ahi.
So the officials went to the king in the courtyard. And having stored the scroll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, they reported everything to the king.
21 Hichun lengpan Jehudi akouvin, lekhajol gala dingin asoltai. Jehudi injong Elishama indan sunga kikoi lekhajol cuh ahinchoiyin, lengpa le vaipo ho jah dingin asimpehtan ahi.
Then the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it from the chamber of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi read it in the hearing of the king and all the officials who were standing beside him.
22 Phalbi lei ahijeh'in, lengpa jong phalbi indan sunga chun atouvin, meibel a mei kitih chu a-oiyin ahi.
Since it was the ninth month, the king was sitting in his winter quarters with a fire burning before him.
23 Chuin Jehudi in lekhajol chu, jolthum jolli asimchaiyin ahileh, lengpan chemchan a-at teltel in, mei lah’a alehlut in, hitichun aban ban in abol in, lekhajol chu abon'in meiya ahalvam soh hettan ahi.
And as soon as Jehudi had read three or four columns, Jehoiakim would cut them off with a scribe’s knife and throw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll had been consumed by the fire.
24 Thu hijat ajah vangun, lengpa ahin chule alhachate ahiuvin, koiman kisihna leh tijatna imacha aneideh pouvin ahi.
Yet in hearing all these words, the king and his servants did not become frightened or tear their garments.
25 Hichun Elnathan, Delaiah chule Gemariah ho chun, lengpa kom’a, lekhajol chu meiya ahalvam lou dingin ajol un, ahivangin lengpan amaho thusei chu angaipeh poi.
Even though Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah urged the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them.
26 Chujouvin, lengpan achapa Jerameel, Azriel chapa Seraiah chule Abdeel chapa Shelemiah akouvin, lekhasunpa Baruch leh Jeremiah themgaopa mandoh dingin thupeh aneitai. Ahivangin amani chu Pakaiyin aseldohtai.
Instead, the king commanded Jerahmeel, a son of the king, as well as Seraiah son of Azriel and Shelemiah son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet. But the LORD had hidden them.
27 Lengpan, Jeremiah thuseiho Baruch in lekhajol a ajihlut chu, meiya ahalvam nung chun; Pakaiyin Jeremiah henga hitin ahinsei kit in ahi.
After the king had burned the scroll containing the words that Baruch had written at Jeremiah’s dictation, the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
28 Nangman lekhajol khat kilahkit inlang, Judah lengpa Jehoiakim in meiya ahalvamsa lekhajol’a kisun thuho chu, avel in abonchan jihlutsah sohkeiyin, ati.
“Take another scroll and rewrite on it the very words that were on the original scroll, which Jehoiakim king of Judah has burned.
29 Chule Judah lengpa Jehoiakim jah’a, hitin seiyin: Nangman lekhajol chu, asunga thu um, Babylon lengpan hiche gam hi asuhmang ding chule agamsunga um mihem leh gancha ho jong asuhgam hel ding ahi, tia akijih lut jeh a meiya nahalvam ahi.
You are to proclaim concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah that this is what the LORD says: You have burned the scroll and said, ‘Why have you written on it that the king of Babylon would surely come and destroy this land and deprive it of man and beast?’
30 Pakaiyin hitin aseiye, Judah lengpa Jehoiakim lengpa chapate David leng touna-a hungtou ding koima cha umlou helding ahiuve. Ama tahsa thilong jeng jong, sunlai nisa thohding leh janlai daitwi doudinga, vuilouva kipaiding ahi.
Therefore this is what the LORD says about Jehoiakim king of Judah: He will have no one to sit on David’s throne, and his body will be thrown out and exposed to heat by day and frost by night.
31 Keiman achonsetnau lethuhna-a, ama chungle ainsung mite chunga chule asohte chunga talen kamatsah ding ahiuve. Chule keiman Jerusalem mite chunga chule Judah mite jouse chunga hamsetna katepsa jouse kabuhlhah ding ahi. Ajeh chu amahon kahilna leh kasihsalna ngaisah in aneipouve.
I will punish him and his descendants and servants for their iniquity. I will bring on them, on the residents of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the calamity about which I warned them but they did not listen.”
32 Hijeh chun Jeremiah in lekhajol achom khat alan, lekhasunpa Baruch kom’a chun, akamcheng tah in aseipeh kit in, ajihlutsah tai. Chule lekhajol masa, Judah lengpa Jehoiakim in meiya ahalvamsa-a, kijihlut thucheng jouse abonchan ajihlutsah kit in, chule thucheng tampi jong akigop ben ahi.
Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to the scribe Baruch son of Neriah, and at Jeremiah’s dictation he wrote on it all the words of the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many similar words were added to them.
