< 2 Samuel 13 >

1 Chuin David chapa Absalom chun sopi numei hoi tah khat aneiyin, amin chu Tamar akiti; hiti chun phat chomkhat jouvin David chapa Ammonin Tamar chu ahin deicha lheh tan ahi.
And it happened after this that Abessalom the son of David had a very beautiful sister, and her name [was] Themar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
2 Amnon chun Tamar chu adeicha lheh jeng tan ahileh hinkho man ding dan jong ahethei tapon, hichun achainan Tamar adeichat behset jeh in adam mo lotan ahi; Ijeh inem itileh Tamar chu nungah thengsel ahina laiyin, chule Amnon in amanu chu kachan joulou ding hitam tin alungin agel tan ahi.
And Amnon was distressed even to sickness, because of Themar his sister; for she was a virgin, and it seemed very difficult for Amnon to do anything to her.
3 Ahivangin Amnon hin kilopi loi lungthim suhto je themtah khat anei in, amin jong Jonadab akiti; amapa hi David loipa Shimea chapa ahi.
And Amnon had a friend, and his name [was] Jonadab, the son of Samaa the brother of David: and Jonadab [was] a very cunning man.
4 Nikhat Jonadab in Amnon koma aseiyin, “Ipi bola lengpa chapa jingkah seh le mi-ngol ho um banga umjing nahim? Ipi ham nabuina?” atileh; Amnon in jong asei peh tai, “Keiman kasopi pa Absalom naonu Tamar khu kadei chat jeh ahi,” tin aphong doh tan ahi.
And he said to him, What ails you that you are thus weak? O son of the king, morning by morning? will you not tell me? and Ammon said, I love Themar the sister of my brother Abessalom.
5 Chuphat’in Jonadab chun aphai, “keiman epi nabol ding naseipih nange ati. Nungchin lang Nalupna a khun lumin lang kinat lhem sah in. Napa chu nangma ve dinga ahung tengleh napa koma hitin seiyin, Tamar chu ahunga nangma dia an neh themkhat nahung bolpih din thum'in. chule aman namitmu a akhut tah a nahung vah'a ahileh nangma naol chom din jong seipih tan ati.”
And Jonadab said to him, Lie upon your bed, and make yourself sick, and your father shall come in to see you; and you shall say to him, Let, I pray you, Themar my sister come, and feed me with morsels, and let her prepare food before my eyes, that I may see and eat at her hands.
6 Hichun Amnon in jong asei bang bang chun alup nah a alumin akinat lhem sah tai. chuin lengpa chu ave din ahungtan ahileh Amnon chun lengpa koma chun asei tai,” Lungset tah in kanaonu Tamar chu neihin solpeh inlang keima mitmun kadutah khat nehding eihung sempih hen, chutile ken ama khutsoh mong mong chu nenge,” ati tai.
So Ammon lay down, and made himself sick; and the king came in to see him: and Amnon said to the king, Let, I pray you, my sister Themar come to me, and make a couple of cakes in my sight, and I will eat them at her hand.
7 Hijeh chun David jong anom in Tamar chu Amnon’s in a agachi a anneh ding them khat agasem peh din asol tan ahi.
And David sent to Themar to the house, saying, Go now to your brother's house, and dress him food.
8 Chuphat’in Tamar jong Amnon in'a achen alhun phat in, alupna lang a ache lut tai. Hichun changboi goina alan changbong agoiyin, Amnon mitmu tah in changlhah chu asem’in akan peh tai.
And Themar went to the house of her brother Amnon, and he [was] lying down: and she took the dough and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes.
9 Ahin amanun akhangbel sunga a changlhah kansa chu Amnon ang sunga agathah lutpeh vang'in amapan ane deh tapon ahi. Hichun Amnon’in asohte kommah aseiyin, “Kakoma konin nabon un potdoh'un,” ati. Hijeh chun abonchao vin ama koma konin apotdoh soh kei tau’ve.
And she took the frying pan and poured them out before him, but he would not eat. And Amnon said, Send out every man from about me. And they removed every man from about him.
10 Chutah chun Amnon in Tamar koma asei in, “Tun an neh ding chu kalupna langah hinchoilut inlang chule neinehsah tan ati. Hichun Tamar injong anehh ding chu achoilut pih tan ahi.
And Amnon said to Themar, Bring in the food into the closet, and I will eat of your hand. And Themar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them to her brother Amnon into the chamber.
11 Ahin amanun anehsah jing lai chun, amapan ahintuh chah kheh in chule athumtan ahi, “Hungin neihung luppin kalungset kanaonu,” tin.
And she brought [them] to him to eat, and he caught hold of her, and said to her, Come, lie with me, my sister.
12 Chuin Tamar chu akap in “Ahipoi he-u, ngol hih in! hitabang pihi kema kom ah bolhih beh in! hitobang ngol hoitah thil hi Israel chate lah a kibol ngai lou ahi, ati.
And she said to him, Nay, my brother, do not humble me, for it ought not to be so done in Israel; do not this folly.
13 Chule keiman hoilam a jum kathoh ngam ding ham? chule nang jong Israel chate lah a michavai mi-ngol khat mong mong nahi ding hita chume. Hijeh a chu katao tho ahi, lengpa koma neiki thumle chun aman jong nang ding beh a chu ajah da louhel ding ahi nai,” ati.
And I, whither shall I remove my reproach? and you shall be as one of the fools in Israel. And now, speak, I pray you, to the king, for surely he will not keep me from you.
14 Ahin Amnon chun amanu thusei chu a ngaipeh tapon, amanu sanga athahat joh jeh chun pum hat’in aluppi tai.
But Amnon would not listen to her voice; and he prevailed against her, and humbled her, and lay with her.
15 Chuin hetman louvin Amnon’s lungset nachu muda najoh ahungsoh tan, chule amuda dan chu masanga adei chat na sang in akhoh jo tai ahi. Hijeh chun Amnon chun akoma hitin asei tai, “Kithou doh loiyin lang pot doh loiyin,” tin asol doh loitan ahi.
Then Amnon hated her with very great hatred; for the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her, for the last wickedness was greater than the first: and Amnon said to her, Rise, and be gone.
16 Chuin Tamar’in kap pummin aseiyin, “Ahipoi he-u, hitobang thildih louva neisol doh loi hi neibol masat na sanga khoh cheh jo ahi,” ativangin Amnonin angai peh deh tapon ahi.
And Themar spoke to him concerning this great mischief, greater, [said she], than the other that you did me, to send me away: but Amnon would not listen to her voice.
17 Chujouvin Amnon in alhacha ho akouvin thu apetan ahi, “Hiche nu hi kamasang a konin sol doh loiyun lang anunga kotpichu kamloi un” ati.
And he called his servant who had charge of the house, and said to him, Put now this [woman] out from me, and shut the door after her.
18 Hitichun Amnon lhachahon Tamar chu asoldoh loiyun anunga kotpi akamden tan ahi. Tamar chun sangkhol chol hoitah aki-ah ahi; ajeh chu chuchi laikhanga chon nadan dungjui a leng chanu nu-ngah theng hochu hitobanga chu ana kivonji mongu ahiye.
And she had on her a variegated robe, for so were the king's daughters that were virgins attired in their apparel: and his servant led her forth, and shut the door after her.
19 Ahinlah tun Tamar in asang khol chol chu abot tel’in chule alu jangah vutvam akiloi tan ahi. chuin akhut chu amai ah akoi in, o thong je jun akap’in achi mangtan ahi.
And Themar took ashes, and put them on her head; and she tore the variegated garment that was upon her: and she laid her hands on her head, and went crying continually.
20 Hichun A-upa Absalom in ana dong in “Na sopipa Amnon chun naum khompi hiteiyin te ong? hijongle tun thipchat in umtan, ajeh chu ama jong na-upa ahi bouve. chule athilbol hi nalungthim a chinda tan,” ati. Hijeh chun Tamar jong a-upa Absalom in’a chun lung genthei tah in acheng den tan ahi.
And Abessalom her brother said to her, Has your brother Amnon been with you? now then, my sister, be silent, for he is your brother: be not careful to mention this matter. So Themar lived as a widow in the house of her brother Abessalom.
21 Chuin David lengpan hitobang thilsoh ho hi ajah doh phat’in alung hang lheh jeng tan ahi.
And king David heard of all these things, and was very angry; but he did not grieve the spirit of his son Amnon, because be loved him, for he was his firstborn.
22 Chule Absalom in hitabong thilsoh hi Amnon koma aseidoh lou vang'in Amnon chu nasatah in avetda lheh jeng tan ahi ajeh chu anaonu chunga athilbol aumchan jeh chu ahi. Absalom’s in Amnon Chunga Phu Alah
And Abessalom spoke not to Amnon, good or bad, because Abessalom hated Amnon, on account of his humbling his sister Themar.

And Abessalom came to the king, and said, Behold, your servant has a sheep-shearing; let now the king and his servants go with your servant.
25 Ahivang in lengpan Absalom adonbut’in, “Ahipoi kacha, kabon uva kahung uleh nang dinga khanlel kahi diu ahi ati. Ahinla Absalom in aha tem cheh jeng in ahi, hiche jong hin David chu ache deh poi, Absalom chu aphat thei na aboh jeng vang'in.
And the king said to Abessalom, Nay, my son, let us not all go, and let us not be burdensome to you. And he pressed him; but he would not go, but blessed him.
26 Chuphat’in Absalomin aphai khutia nang nahung thei lou ding leh eti nagel em kanaopa Amnon hinsol ding chu? Chuin lengpan ahin donbut in, epi jeh a Amnon hungding? ati.
And Abessalom said to him, And if not, let I pray you, my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said to him, Why should he go with you?

Ajeh chu keiman thu kapeh louva nabol u ham? Hangsan tah le thanei tah in pang uvin,” tin asei peh tai.
And Abessalom charged his servants, saying, Mark when the heart of Amnon shall be merry with wine, and I shall say to you, Strike Amnon, and kill him: fear not; for is it not I that command you? Be courageous, and be valiant.
29 Hijeh chun Absalom soh ten jong Absalom in athupeh bang bang uvin Amnon chu athat taovin ahi. Chuin lengpa chapate adangho se abonchan akipat’uvin asakol pol cheh chunga atou doh soh keiyuvin ajam gamtauve.
And the servants of Abessalom did to Amnon as Abessalom commanded them: and all the sons of the king rose up, and they mounted every man his mule, and fled.
30 Hichun amaho lamkim lah Jerusalem ahung gei uvin David henga thu ahung kithang lut masan, “Absalomin lengpa chapate jouse athat game, khat’a khat cha jong ahing hoi ta poi,” tin ahung ki sei e.
And it came to pass, when they were in the way, that a report came to David, saying, Abessalom has slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.

Then the king arose, and tore his garments, and lay upon the ground: and all his servants that were standing round him tore their garments.
32 Chuin David golpa Shimea chapa Jonadab chu David kom ahung in hitin asei e, “Ahipoi tahsan hih beh in, lengpa chapate ho jouse aboncha atha ahi sam poi, Amnon chang seh kithat ahibouve; ijeh-inem itileh Absalomin hichebol ding hi masanga pet Amnonin anaonu Tamar pum hat san a abolset nikho’a pat a chu gonsa anakoi ahitai.
And Jonadab the son of Samaa brother of David, answered and said, Let not my Lord the king say that he has slain all the young men the sons of the king, for Amnon only of them all is dead; for he was appointed [to death] by the mouth of Abessalom from the day that he humbled his sister Themar.
33 Ahipoi, kapu lengpa nachapate abonchauva thigam ahi poi! Amnon sehbou thi ahi,” ati.
And now let not my lord the king take the matter to heart, saying, All the king's sons are dead: for Amnon only of them is dead.
34 Hichephat tah chun Absalom chu ajam mang tai; chuin Jerusalem a mive lhia pangpa chun akho dah in agah vet’a ahileh, vetan, Horonaim molsang pang langa chun mihem tamtah ahung kijot’uvin ahi. tin lengpa seipih din alhai tan ahi.

35 Hichun Jonadab chun lengpa jaah ven! Tun leng chapate khu ahung tauve; nalhachapa keiman kasei peh bang in ahung taove,” ati peh e.
And Jonadab said to the king, Behold, the king's sons are present: according to the word of your servant, so has it happened.
36 Chule Jonadab chun thu asei jou jouvin, vetan, lengpa chapate chu ahung lhung pai tauvin, chuin apeng jah’uvin akap cheh tauvin ahileh, lengpa le alhacha ho jong abonchauvin lhase tah-in akap soh kei uve.
And it came to pass when he had finished speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voices and wept: and the king also and all his servants wept with a very great weeping.
37 Chuin David in nisotpi achapa Amnon pul adouvin ahi. Absalom vang chu apupa Geshur lengpa Ammihud chapa Talmai koma ajam tan ahi.
But Abessalom fled, and went to Tholmi son of Emiud the king of Gedsur to the land of Chamaachad: and king David mourned for his son continually.

So Abessalom fled, and departed to Gedsur, and was there three years.

And king David ceased to go out after Abessalom, for he was comforted concerning Amnon, touching his death.
